Prince O3 vs. Ozone ball feel

I've read that the O3 and Ozone tour series are pretty much identical except for layup. Some posters have said the Ozone series feels much better.

I've got an O3 mid that swings nice, hits a good ball, but feels a bit tinny.

Anyone care to comment on/describe how the Ozone frames compare directly with their O3 forebears?

Thanks

Haven't played with the o3 hybrid, but have played with a customized o3hornet and currently play with a ozone pro tour.

o3 series definately feels more manueverable, powerful = stiffer and tend to have thicker beams = hollow, tinny feeling.

The ozone pro tour is substantial in weight and the thin beam and low flex let you 'go for broke' on groundstrokes.. which is the main reason why i stuck with them-- groundstrokes feel great-- you have the feeling that you can hit flat or spin and the frame is not a liability in either aspect.

Slices are also good-- not k90 good-- but good. My only gripe is directional control on flat serves-- the shape of the head gives no feedback to momentum positioning. I tend not to go for flat serves--unless I'm way up in the set/game-- primarily I hit half-kickers and kickers-- and the spin-potential for kickers with some 'heat' is outstanding with the ozone pro tour.

I put the plastic throat grommet (as oppossed to the rubber one) to get some extra 'feel' or 'feedback'-- and re-wrapped the original dura+last grip, that came with the racquet, extra-tight-- amazing how much grip I cut-off- now the 4 3/8's grip actually feels like a 4 3/8's grip.

Overall, the pro ozone tour has adequate power potential, made for the 'all court game', not exceptional in one area but good in all, flex is stiff on touch shots and flexible with full swing, and is another string sensitive racquet-- and coming from a MG prestige mid-- the stringbed is very forgiving.

Iv hit with the o3 Tour mp and mid, o3 Hybrid Tour, Ozone Tour and Pro Tour, Exo Graphite mid and mp, and the Exo Rebel tour and team. The pro tour is my fav outta all of em. Great control, feel, power, sweet spot, and spin. Its just a really well rounded stik. The other o3s (with exception to the hybrid) felt very mushy and dead, really hated em. The new Exo stix r all nice but I feel mor comfy with my pro tours. The rebels and graphites hit well but jus didnt giv me any reason to switch.

To answer your Q mor specifically, the o3 Tour mid and Ozone Tour r very diff. For starters the head sizes r diff, the Tour mid is 95sqin while the Ozone Tour is 100sqin, so yeah the Ozone feels bigger. Overall feel, I think, goes to the mid because it felt more crisp and LESS dead (it was still quite dead.) Power goes to the Ozone hands down, but control is a very easy win for the mid. Spin is almost the same with the Ozone getting jus barely mor.

I hope this helps...

Thanks fellas. The O3 Tour mid vs. Ozone Pro Tour is the comparison I'm most interested in.

In a few countries, Prince has offered an Ozone Tour MS, which has identical specs to the older O3 Tour mid. Since I like the O3 Tour mid, but wish it had better ball feel, I'm thinking of trying to get my hands on the Ozone Tour MS - if the ball feel of the Ozones is that much better than the O3s.

I like the ball that comes off the O3 Tour mid, and don't feel it to be mushy - to me it actually feels crisp, but 'tinny'. Of course, I'm comparing it to the K90 currently, so...
