Prince Official - Racquets

if y’all had to guess, when do y’all think Prince will come out with next generation of the

Prince ATS Textreme Tour?

The current lineup is only 2 years old, so maybe another year or two before an official announcement. I'm a 100% sure Zylon will be added.

Seems like it's forever because we saw the - gorgeous - Japanese version of pretty much the same ATS models waay before the rest of the world one was finally released.

At first I thought "What is this miracle material called Zylon?"

I was wondering about Zylon and found Babolat already had a "Zylon" frame in 2002: https://www.tennis-warehouse.com/learning_center/racquet_reviews/BPDZreview.html

Then looked up Zylon on Wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zylon... name: poly(,1980s and manufactured by Toyobo.

Prince knows what they are doing and are doing it well, using twaron, Zylon, etc. Such excellent quality frames. From what I heard the new tours outside of JP will be released in Q4 2025! I bet these will have the Z stuff in them.

@DJ- I wasn't implying negative vibes was just curious about Zylon. One doesn't have to look far or hard to find "dramatic" buzzwords in tennis racket construction. Whatever happened to Graphene:) I can't count the number of Prince rackets I have had including nearly 2 dozen POGs, both sizes, so many Changs it seemed almost fetish-like and numerous other Prince rackets. Heck I have 3 Twistpower 97s I think are as good as any racket out there I am just a bit skeptical when I hear things like Titanium, Graphene, Zylon, etc.

Anyone here string their phantoms (P or G) with all syn gut or multi only? I flirt with the idea but feel the spin suffers some. Been stringing Volkl main around 45 lbs and Prince premier control at 48lbs cross. Playing with a customized 100G.
I string my Phantom Pro 100 and 100x 290 with f/b syn gut 16g at mid 40's. Poly at around 42. The Phantoms respond well to mid 40's syn gut - bigger sweet spot, nice cupping, more power but still enough spin and decent control.

They're not all created equal, for sure. The first Head racquet I tried was in the first Graphene line and I kept asking myself "where is this lovely Head feel that people keep talking about?" But this twaron stuff in the Textremes and the nf2 fibers or whatever they're called in the newer Babolats have definitely made me more open to different layups.

Just hoping that the Zylon doesn't mess with the Textreme feel too much. Sounds like people are happy with it in the Phantoms. (I've never tried a Phantom so I don't know myself)

Using the X (not the P or G), but I string with syn gut full bed fairly often (Prince Original Syn Gut or Lightning Pro), and it works great. Usually at 48 or 50 lbs. For me, plays best after an hour or so when it loosens up just a little.

No negative vibes taken from me end! I was just stating Prince use technology that makes a difference and enhances feel / pop. The Zylon stuff actually appears to add that extra pop to the frames (according to the TW playtest crew and the JP reviews) without losing feel. Prince use stuff that has proven to work, like Twaron, which 'm loving in the new o3 tour and twist 100. The head designer guy from prince makes appearances on their channels and actually has some great insight into the frame moulds, tech, why changes were made, etc. The translate button has become more efficient on YouTube.

And I would string my Phantom100x 305s with syn gut at 47, and it was the best racquet ever, EXCEPT..........I just could not hit a serve with it. I mean, never. I probably hit the sweet spot (or it only felt like the sweet spot) 1 out of 50-100 times. I have two that I have to get around to putting up for sale, because after trials of several Tours, including the 98, I have settled on the ATS Tour 100 290. It is nearly everything the Phantom was, but I can also serve nearly as well as my trusted Triple Threat Hornet of old (another great one, but I volleyed poorly with it)

Doing syn gut at 48 for now on the Tour. Could play with that a bit. Best of luck

Am I the only one who thinks prince may have over exerted them selves with the 2020 phantoms and Zylon is downgrade to cut costs?

Could be completely off track but I bought a second 100x 18x20 on mega sale for 150 aud...now that I’ve got a pair of them I doubt I’ll be looking to pick up a phantom any time soon tbh. Love how it pulverises the ball when leaded up & how the ultra thin beam cuts though the air.

Still on the lookout for the Twistpower 98, and if we in the west are getting it. 97x is hands down the best frame (I would say on the market but it’s not & was originally released in Japan in 2019...)

Will get this one restrung with something shaped for the coach-owner and will give it a good 1.5 hour go myself.

I could keep the ATS98 for myself tonight, but I handed it over to the coach. I'll get my chance very soon anyway. He's looking for some extra top-spin assistance, so I just put a Topspin hybrid of the 5-sided Top Rotation in the mains and Cyber Soft in the crosses.

But, I don't think the ATS98 with the 8 mains in the throat is anywhere near a spin-oriented frame. It's a flat player's weapon, like I am. I just don't like the fact I feel the way the weight is concentrated from the mid of the hoop and towards the tip of the frame and at the same time, the 23mm seem a bit too big with the white colours. I'm a 22mm straight beam guy for 98s.

Imy just curious to see if I will get any extra lift on the ball and maybe a bit larger sweet spot with the very soft Cyber Soft.

If you ever have one you can modify, a leather grip and/or weight in the handle is definitely worth a try. i did not like the weight distribution at first, but mine now feels great with slightly less than a 31.5 balance strung.
This was the case with the Blade V5 16x19 I'm currenly using most of the time. Some head heaviness in terms of balance, but it weighted around 290 grams unstrung, so it's super maneuverable. I've only added 4 strips of lead underneath the basegrip to make it feel a bit more stable and now it doesn't need anything else.
The ATS98 seems to have a narrower head-shape, so being a bit more heavy in static weight may be not such a big issue, if it's maneuverable enough.
It's just that with the Pro Kennex Ki5 295 and now with this underspeced Blade, I've seen that a lighter racket is better for me as it's easier to maneuver in all situations.
I'll see what the ATS98 plays like most probably this week and share my feedback.

Not glossy because it's not a "Legend" edition lol. I've come across another iteration with grey colour instead of the white. On this black one, I don't see "Z" Zylon on the throat next to "Textreme", so it's just a paint-option, which is welcomed.

I might be overreading things, but it seems like there's a high correlation between Prince users and preferring black frames so that paintjob makes more sense than the silver one (though the silver one imo was better than the white one, and I really don't think the white one is bad)

Played and lost a very close set, 5-7 double faulted 2 consecutive flat serves. Working on those, making good progress for an upcoming local tournament.

The ATS98 is more stable and more powerful than my (underspeced) Blade V5 16x19 and the Diadem Elevate V2 (both have 4 grams in the handle).

The 23mm beam plays this role for sure. Slicing is pretty damn good. Flat hitting is almost excellent for just 2- hours of total hitting.

I want to play at least 1 straight hour of baseline groundstrokes hitting to have a better opinion.

The 5-sided Max Rotation did provide some easier lift on the ball and the much softer Cyber Soft did open-up the sweetspot more than the previous full bed of Prince Vortex string (if I'm not mistaken).

Still, I feel the ATS needs a full bed of round-shaped string not as stiff and demanding like the Kirschbaum Max Power, more something closer to the Kirschbaum Flash which is a bit more lively.

Sent back the DR98 and the BLX Six.One 18x20 (too heavy) back to my friend and I'm keeping the Prince Textreme Tour 95 (2015): 308 grams unstrung with a Tourna basegrip. Most probably, I will hit with it late today side-by-side with the ATS98.

TW had the Diablo mid at 66ra. I always thought it felt firm but not stiff.
O ports alienated quite a few people, including myself, but I’ve come around since and think it’s good tech.

I've used three versions of the O ports. I also string. Yeah, at first I did not like stringing these at all. And, to be honest, I would prefer not to still even though I have a lock on my table. It does add several minutes to the job. But there is no denying it works. I use a RipStick for doubles, and it is literally like using an old APD that is comfortable. Nothing compares.

Sorry I've been away. I'll try to spend some time tomorrow reading through the comments and answering some questions.

Would be nice if Prince USA knows whether they will get the new Twistpowers. I just got back from Japan visiting and was interesting to see the Prince lineup there. I wasn't wowed by their ATS lineup (it's just a different flavor of white)....but the Twistpower 98 Tour was very cool....I was tempted to grab one at ~$250 USD each but couldn't pull the trigger to try it. The Twistpower 100 tour seemed meh when I picked it up vs the current X100 here in the US. Didn't really like the Beast series..kinda chunky and the fire red paint job's not really my thing

Blacked out paint jobs are the new trend.

In other news the win streak extends to 8 matches since returning to Prince. Might get a tattoo.

Still have not found a better setup than poly/multi (cyclone mains for now) will try pro line evolution/multi soon.

Edit: THE STREAK HAS ENDED IN HORRIFIC FASHION

which multi are you using?

OMG lol @Prince Tennis Official is back when did this happen

I'm aware I can just look back and read the date, I saw this the day before, page 106 almost midway down
Please please let there be a Tour 95 version, instant grab for me
I don't mind the white, I was confused what the silver version looked like then remembered the darker tone still with the green and orange accents, that really looked like the VCP had a baby with the Tours, swore the silver had a greenish tone, still like that too, but nothing beats this classic colour scheme

PSA announcement: the newest European Beast releases are AMAZING!

The one with the volcano theme paintjobs. Haven't tried the new 98, can't find one in my new preferred grip size, but the 100 is the bomb! People need to try it, and wish everyone had it. The stiffness profile is much better than when I tried out the previous twaron version only in the shaft. Feels just a little softer

Btw didn't Prince Japan release a new Beast series again this year? Mostly black and orangey red text? Glad I didn't jump on and snag a 98 yet, the European volcano cosmetic is the da bomb lol, kinda wish the red was even darker and glittery metallic

Confused why no one has mentioned or done this yet, just had to the moment I saw the new black cosmetic

Wonder if we could get confirmation as to whether Beasts will come to North America?

There will be another 98, right?

I remember reading from TW that there were no plans or talk to bring the Beast over, but I wish that would change

Although the previous version never caught on, and ended up on lingering on sale for ages, I feel this new version is much better. Like between the last Textreme 2.0 Tours and the 2022 ATS. More stable, comfortable, better stiffness profile imo, and better cosmetic on the Beast

There is a European release Beast 98 already on sale, but I can't find one in stock in my grip size. Static unstrung weight changed from 305g to 300g. I think the rest is the same

Head Velocity MLT 17 at 52lbs on a recommendation from the forum.

Don't have any issue with power and this racquet.
