Synergy 98 arrived today. I'll most probably hit with it in about two weeks from now. I'll share feedback.
Edit: strang it up with Isospeed Grey Fire 1.25 at 22kg. I will give it to a friend to hit with until I get back into playing in about 2 weeks.
Paintjob quality is great! Not the kind of cheap paint-finishes I came across a lot this year with various well-known rackets. Still, Babolat Pure Strive VS is the best looking racket for me, but felt "hollow" and caused me soreness.
Forgot to measure the unstrung weight to check how good the QC is. Will do next time.
The 4 central mains are quite tight. 4th - 7th is a bit semi-open.
All the crosses seem to have the same gap between them. Semi-open gaps.

The Prince Japan tour 98 is not an update, but rather the Japanese version of the ATS 98 released in the same year as the racquet TW carries. There was no ATS 98 in Japan prior to,the current model. The lack of parallel drilling in th US/global models could have been a choice related to feel, as the Japanese ATS 95 also does not have it.

You are correct. I checked and the Tour series in Japan does not have parallel drilling, whereas the phantoms and beasts do.

I have put like 6ish hours into it now. Compared to my 305x, the tour “feels” like it has a slightly higher swing weight and stiffer. Overall I like it and I will probably switch to it for my main racquet.
It has a lower lower launch angle and feels very stable. It took a little while to get adjusted to forehands as I was a little late on serve returns. But once I got dialed in, it had a very solid and predictable response. The biggest thing I have noticed is that when I have time, it feels like a hammer when I hit the perfect sweet spot. High volleys and groundstrokes really pop out fast when I take big cuts. But on normal shots, it feels like it has a very predictable and controlled response.

The 320-gram unstrung weight has kept me away from this. Unfortunately, most brands release these 18*20 with too heavy unstrung specs. A Phantom is on my to-do list, but it will have to be the 16*18, if it's not too open. Don't want to go at Prestige MP 18*19 2021 heavy specs and too evenly balanced with too small margin for customization.

It is on the heavier side but the thin beam and moderate swing weight-292 unstrung-make it easy to swing. I have pros pro syn gut in it also.

I asked a friend and member of this forum from Greece if he had any kid's 25 or 26 inch racket for sale, because I'm gonna start playing tennis with my 8-year-old and Bublik-alike nephew and he's sending me one for free and also a Prince O3 Tour to try! I'll give props once I hit with it. December will be Synergy 98 and that O3 racket for me.

For stringing up the Vortex, do you have a guideline for how long each part of a two piece string job should be? I would imagine with only 14 mains, but 21 crosses that it likely isn't just an even split on a standard set of strings?

What a sad sad, sad sad day it is.
I had quite hoped they would keep the model and the 93 headsize but update it if they had too, and seems like they would've had to, just modernise the frame a little or just thicken it a bit like they did with the Phantom 100X models...
Hear is a thought, maybe finally generate renewed interest and finally release a 16x19 model sheesh

I've noted for a long time that Japan has never had the Tour 100P, although very very occasionally you can find a used 'global' edition Tour, usually first gen tour 95, or first gen all black Phantom, usually the 93p, selling online in Japan

They should fit but check the throat grommet where it goes on the yoke. Does it come apart in two plastic pieces? That's a specific feature only on certain Japanese Prince models to increase comfort slightly
The ATS gen is much better than the org due to the Twaron in the hoop, Twistpower is much different than either, less stable, more power and spin. Haven't tried those exact models though
What about this do you specifically like or don't like? Or want are you wanting out of it?
Might even be an even split this time lol due to the mains usually being longer than crosses, but can't help since I don't have firsthand experience sorry

Honestly, just want to add to my Prince collection. I sniped the Phantom 100x 290 a few months ago for a discount and ended up loving it despite never demoing or doing too much research into it. Now I'm looking to give Prince another try when the deep discount hits again. Crossing my fingers for Cyber Monday at this point.

Great frame, bit less spin potential and put away power than the G Pro but the feel is amazing.
I use mine when I'm hitting with my daughter as it's so arm friendly and I don't end up hitting it too hard

Yeah that's fair, I've done that a few times before with Prince.
Actually I did that with the Twistpower haha, but the 100 Tour version. It is unique and obviously not quite like anything else on the market. I knew I probably didn't want to switch to it but wanted to try it at least, but the price never quite got to where I wanted it at the right time.
I saw that Prince Japan had released a 2nd gen model last year with Twaron and the ATS but it was only the 100 model and I waited a year for them to release the 97, but I never heard or saw anything. So I grabbed one of the last 1st gen 100 Tours available at a good price..... then Prince Japan announced the 98 shortly after lol. Paintjob is worse for me than the 2nd gen 100 at least, had rather they kept the 97 headsize if it's more stable and powerful than the all black Twistpower 97.
I shied away from it for a long time because I was worried it wasn't maneuverable enough in the throat for me or too bulky, but the racquet almost disappears for a moment on a swing where the shaft twists, it's only a small portion and not big but noticeable for me.
Were you able to find a good discount over the weekend?
Nah, I didn't pull for any new racquets over the weekend (but I did pull the trigger on the Prince Venom since I like the while/teal color scheme). I was hoping for the Twistpower or the 2022 ATS to go on a double digit discount like during the Prince Flash Sale a few months ago, but gonna hold for now since I'm enjoying my P100x 290 (I lowkey regret not buying a second one during the sale...).

Well that's healthy for the wallet at least. I think there are a few Phantom 100X 290s still around anyway on a good discount if you were willing to buy internationally, but might be worth it now to wait and see what they do next year for the Phantoms too
My P100X 290 is my first Prince racquet coming from Babolat and then Wilson and I have to say I'm a huge fan now and looking forward to trying out all they have to offer. Definitely one of those happy coincidence moments pulling the trigger on this on a whim.
