Oh oops my bad then. Does the classic graphite really weigh 12.9 oz strung?

FYI, I just dug out my old Wilson Sting 85 strung with Prince Synth 16g 20 yrs ago; it weighs 12.41 oz and I bounced a tennis ball on its old string and it still gives me the good old box beam feel. It has the same design with an arch cross bar at the throat. The box beam is 17.5mm. I also have the 110 version which is 18mm; weighs 11.9oz without the leather grip (12.9oz with leather grip). I loved these rackets but only wished Wilson made a 95 in the thin beam design; they did make a wide beam later on but it's not the same thin box beam.

There's a whole clothing collaboration as well. I haven't seen prince clothes since davydenko stopped wearing them.

With all of these new racquets coming out from Prince, it would be nice to see some kind of promotion for dedicated Prince consumers, like "trading in a prince racquet for $50 off a new racquet". This will definitely boost sales. @Prince Tennis Official

I finally decided to buy the new 100P after analyzing all reviews and player feedback. I am currently using the Blade v7 98 16 x 19 but looking for a tad more power and more forgiveness along with the comfort. The SW should not be a problem as the 100P has a similar SW. The 100P will offer better stability, spin, power then the Blade v7 98 16 x 19 and comfort should be fairly similar as well. I also want to maintain a controlled feel. I will post my review by the weekend.

I know that you are also a big fan of Angell frames as well. How would you compare the Phantom 100p against the TC 100 in a comparable weight in terms of power, control, feel, spin and comfort? I am thinking about switching to a 100 sq inch frame. I played with the original 100p when it came out and liked it alot, however for some reason balls hit the upper hoop were a irritating my shoulder. I have had some shoulder issues for a while. I was also looking at the new 100P but not sure if it will also agree with my sensitive shoulder. I appreciate your input.

I unfortunately have not been able to hit the TC100 as I received it a day before all sports ground shut in HK. I am now in France at my parents for a couple of weeks and have brought it with me, hoping I could have a hit or two here. When I do, I'll keep you posted.

Not surprised that you found the first PP100P harsh in the upper hoop, as it does mirror my experience with it. Not so much on serve, but I could clearly feel the shock in my arm when hitting a hard forehand off center. Apparently the second iteration is better in this respect. I guess that the twaron at 10 and 2 helps in this respect.

Just something on the serve, having practiced it a lot with an excellent coach (former India Davis Cup doubles player). I too used my shoulder way too much on that shot, leading to over-extension and sometimes soreness. He showed me that the key is really the wrist, and the ability to really whip the ball by keeping the wrist completely loose. Try to start super slow, accelerate progressively and let the wrist do its thing.

I totally agree with on the original PP 100P playability. Yes, that's one of my problems on the serve is not being loose enough. I have been working on this. I decided to buy the new 100P as the added twaron is supposed to increase stability and I would believe comfort as well. I will keep you posted as well. Enjoy your tennis in France!!

It's a bit of a moot point now, since you got the new 100P, but I did get a hit this morning with an old mate who's also a coach, so I got to test the TC100. Mostly groundstrokes, no serve and only a few volleys, so it's limited but I think I got a good feel for it. My specs are 63 RA / 310g / 315mm / grip C (similar to Prince), so this is very similar to the 100P, seeing that the RA on the Angell is unstrung and typically drops by 3-4 points once strung, putting it around 59-60.

Initial impressions:
- very plush, but at the same time feels very solid at impact, which I attribute to the foam filled structure
- massive sweet spot, much larger than the original PP100P
- no harshness whatsoever even on off-center shots, and very stable too
- launch angle similar to that of the PP100P, so quite high. That's OK, I need net clearance
- surprising amount of pop on the ball - more than any of the Phantom's I've tried

I'm really happy with this, and I think it should complement my game quite well. I'm eager to do a few serves as well, to see if the power on groundstrokes translate there too. This was my biggest knock on the original PP100P, I was missing punch both on first serves and kick serves, which is my best shot.

But if the reviews from TW and Jonas at Tennisnerd are anything to go by, I don't think you would be losing out much with the new 100P, which seems to be one of those rare instances where a tweak in technology actually improved an already good frame. Please do report back here once you've tried it, I'm really interested in your thoughts.

Thanks for your feedback on the TC 100 which is quite positive. Angell does make some really good frames. I have a pair of the K7 Reds but my only real gripe is they are a bit low on power which is why I purchased the 100P. I will definitely keep you posted on my thoughts of the new 100P!

I just got my 2020 100P. I changed the stock grip to my grip of choice, Wilson Contour. With a tourna dampener the racquet weighs 325 grams. I strung with my goat string Gosen Micro 16 at 53lbs. The change in grip to the Wilson Contour made the frame a bit more HL. I would estimate the SW is around 325 or so which is a tad under the specified SW of 328 or 330 noted by tennisnerd. Coming from the new Blade v7 98 16 x 19 the SW is very manageable with the new 100P. I am going to play with it stock over the weekend and then post my thoughts.

It really needs to. The second generation TT95 partly solved the problem of the first generation’s somewhat fluttery feeling in the upper hoop, but at the expense of the first generation‘s sublime feel, the addition of Twaron notwithstanding. I have high hopes for the ATS being the goldilocks version. (If only it was a 97” - sigh.)

Pimping swinging with a Prince during his comeback last year. Love his serve.

That is the problem with todays men's game. First 8 points were all service winners. Something needs to be done to make the game a bit more interesting. It's really become servebots vs defenders. If you aren't one of those 2 play styles, you aren't winning much.

Has anyone that's played with the TT100P ('15) and the TT100P ('19) versions noticed any major difference in the 2 versions? I'm curious if the addition of Twaron made that big of a difference in feel, power, and stiffness.

That does however appear to be a very fast indoor surface, and ‘Pim-Pim’ 1.0 used to red line to such a degree that he made Dustin Brown look like a pusher; he played like Monfils stuck in sixth gear.

Courts have already been slowed down to neutralise strong servers in the last 10-15 years. Slowing them even more will just reward grinders! Grindfests will ruin tennis! Service winners in the 1st few games is normal especially if the players have never/seldom meet & both have decent serves. It takes a few games to kinda "feel out" the opponent serve mechanics, ball trajectory & spin.

I play with both. The 2019 version is noticeably more powerful and stable than the 2015 version. Sound- and feel-wise, the 2019 version has more of a dull 'thud' on contact than the 2015 version, which I'd say has more of a 'thwack', if that makes sense. I consider both very comfortable. The main differences, I'd say, are in feel and feedback. It's not that one has any more or less than the other; they're just different.

Do you find the 2019 model to have a stiffer hoop - possibly a slightly higher swing weight also - and consequently transfer power better than the 2015 version? I found this to be the case with the 2015 and 2019 TT95s.

The 2019 version does seem to swing slightly heavier, but the difference is really small. I tend to notice the higher twistweight of the 2019 version moreso than any swingweight difference. I mainly perceive this as additional stability, but I can see how it could be perceived as hoop stiffness. In any case, this difference is probably part of what makes the 2019 version seem a bit more powerful than the 2015 version.

ATS is designed to increase the TW by stiffening 10 & 2 on the racket face. This is an approach Prince has used since the Triple threat design.

I'm eager to try the Phantom Pro 93P 18x20 (2020). If the ATS improves stability and the RA is lower this could lead to an even better 93P. I already like Version 1 very much, so any improvement only adds to its brilliance.

How would you compare TT100 290 (twaron) with previous TT100T version. Specwise they are identical except SW (which is slightly higher in new ver) and stiffness (which is also slightly higher in new ver)

Yeah i was hoping to try out the new Phantom line at the TW tent at Indian Wells this year. And we all know how that went  .

Hopefully next year but even that's looking dicey. Sadly no local stores tend to bring in substantial amounts of Prince frames so it's hard to demo. The TW setup is so great since they have a wide selection of Prince frames there and if you go early you get to try everything.

Yeah... that's because TW is the sole Distributor for Prince (at least in the US)... so they have all the range and decide who/ if anyone else gets models. Hopefully, IW will happen next year.

Is it true? a 107" Phantom? Please say it is. Phantom Graphite!
And....sorry, where can I get a non-O3 Port Beast 104". They were on TW Europe.

It is true. Hoping to hear soon from TW but there are videos out of it being demo'd in Japan. Looks sweet with the crossbar and everything. I'm hoping I can order it in Canada from the one shop in Vancouver that still carries Prince.

since TW never had this particular prince frame i hope it is kosher for me to list a non TW site that indeed has the beast 104 with grommets. i bought mine from racquetguys.com
good luck,

They aren’t coming.

(just saw that you asked this to TW. Post is for everyone else reading the thread)

So disappointed! Seems to be that the ongoing sales niche is Phantoms, despite many comments that these are generally under powered. Also, I can’t believe that if they could bring those glorious white TTs in they wouldn’t; must be Japanese exclusive or there are other forces in play?
