Prince Original Graphite Mid

Hi all,

I am new to this forum but searched for a thread regarding this but didn't find too much information.

A little background about myself: I'm a D1 tennis player who grew up using prestiges and mid size rackets but have played the MP IG Youtek Prestige for the past year or so.

I saw that TW was selling the POG Mid again recently and jumped on the opportunity and ordered one; then customized it and planned on ordering more. I absolutely love this racket but it seems TW has quickly sold out of this racket unfortunately. I was planning on switching to this racket but now am left with only one.

Anyway, I am messing around with strings with different tension and haven't quite found a combo of string/lead tape that I have really enjoyed. Surprisingly, I found that a full racket of Babolat Pro Hurricane Tour 17 with a couple grams of lead at 3 and 9 was the best feeling combo I've tried thus far. I demoed it a while back and it had a Prince Synthetic or multi that also felt pretty good.

I would love to hear from anyone using this racket. Opinions about the racket, stringing, lead and so forth are all welcomed and appreciated. Also, comparisons to the older versions are welcome although I know there is already a pretty lengthy thread regarding the older models.

(Mods: I wasn't too sure if this should go in the older racket section since this is a remanufactured version of the old racket.)

Thanks!

Before it is too late measure the weight of the rackets you like in grams and measure the balance point from the butt of the racket. That get you in the ball park of what you like. The rest is just strings, tension, and racket stiffness.

oh, and what irvin said. he's got it right enough as usual.

not sure from your post, but are you a current D1 or someone coming back to tennis again who played high level back in the day?

thanks for the responses!

@irvin right now the one im using weighs in at about 365 grams strung and 9pts headlight

Im not looking to switch rackets, rather just hear some other experiences and general opinion on the remanufactured version and so forth!

@wrxinsc I currently play d1! however this past semester was my last year of playing

I was not suggesting you do but at some point you will. It is nice to know what you have so you know about where you're want to end up with your new racket when the time comes. Some people have no clue or they go by published specifications which more often than not are wrong.

you're right...I should calculate the swingweight as well but Im always messing around with my lead tape until it feels right.

Im not sure the specs on my prestige either. I have lead tape about half way up the handle and a couple grams between the 12,3, and 9 position.

I should mention ive never used any of the POG1-POG5 but absolutely love the feel of the new one.

Found several used ones on CL this past weekend. Lucky. Also new ones for other online sellers. Just gotta look around.

Great stick imo. Was playing with it for like 10 years. Really solid stick with tons of spin, good control, biting slice etc. I always strUng mine with Big Banger Original to get some more playing hours from the 14x18 pattern. Was also experimenting with some lead but was getting late on shots and switched back to stock form. It surely is a classic. I found the version with four stripes better then the newer models. More stable. Still have 2 of those laying around unused. I switched to O3 Tour later which is also a great stick. Would really love to try new POG 100.
