Prince Ozone 7 grommets?

#1
Hi guys,

My friend brought in a Prince Ozone 7 for me to string but one of the grommets at the bottom is already broken in pieces and I quite cautious about stringing it as im sure it will break and touch the racquet if i pull a main. The prince ozone 7 grommets at the bottom is a very soft rubber and seems to break easily. The racquet is from yeaaaaars ago and I cant find any replacement grommets. Does anyone know how I can DIY it or find some other way of string it?

Thanks

I'm gonna assume you are referring to one of these and the problem is the plastic has cracked between 3 and 4. If so, use an awl to enlarge the hole(s) and use nylon tubing to span the crack. Nylon tubing is pretty stiff and unlikely to pull through.

Are you trying to start the mains in the throat? That is NOT right. Where is the grommet broken?

The throat piece in the example supports 8 mains. You may think it is 6 mains, but there are 2 mains that do not have the grommets, 1 at each end. When some stringers screw up, they start the mains in the throat when it should be at the tip. @Irvin is correct. Start your mains at the throat and you will wreck the throat grommets.

My guess is somebody already did

Probably true. I still do a few O3 OSs. I have removed their throat pieces because they were destroyed. Just tube the entire throat with 4 long pieces of tubing. And use power pads. And tell the client to use a dampener.

This frame has 8 mains in the throat, so when needed I tubed each. I did not bother with power pads in the throat.
For one player I had to tube the top ports to cut down on shank breaks.
