I really liked 42-45lbs with RS Lyon which is a round, soft, comfortable, and control-oriented string. Gut/poly is also not bad with Lux Natty/Rs Lyon at 50/45 lbs. Ultimately it is all about what suits you and your strokes. There is a pretty informative thread on 93P here on the forum made by @Power Player - think you should go through it for sure.

Are you a poly user or Multi? String breaker or not?

I think the big hitters who generally use poly like a soft poly in the mid 40's tension.
Folks like me that don't hit as hard and are protecting their arms are getting good results from multi's in the mid tension range.
I think most agree that 17g and lower is best.

My next stringjob is going to be Origin/Velocity 17g at 55/52 lbs. I am using 16g right now and I think it's a little too firm.

I settled on soft, low-powered 16L/17 polys (e.g. yonex poly tour air) at low 40's. Tried 18/19g polys but felt they weren't firm enough on volleys. I usually like shaped polys but didn't feel any additional benefits with this pattern.

I'm a full bed multi user and have to string whatever I use at the top tension range (55#) else I have trouble keeping the ball in. I use the 93P because I want to swing out and don't want to hold back. Velocity 17 at 55# plays great with the 93P, but there's something about the string that doesn't agree with my arm, so I went back to using Xcel 17 which is probably the most comfortable multi there is.

I am getting a 93p for xmas.

I am ~4.0 and play either:
- full poly strung low (38lbs)
- gut/poly 48/40

I have a variety of frames but they are all 97-100 and either 16x19 / 16x18 / 16x20 (ie. no 18x20; no mids)

My question is how much lower to go when I string the 93p (if at all).

Thx.

I'd keep same tension as before. Keep variables to minimum. Change in your subsequent string jobs based on how you feel for this string job.

What gauges? I'd make sure that you use no thicker than 17g. But those tensions look fine.

Use VS Team with PTP at 48/40 and see how you like it.

Several members really like Full bed RS Lyon as well.

I'm using Legend/Cream 17g at 52/46 and will likely try it at 50/45 in my next stringiing.

I’ve also only tried full poly strung low (45 lbs.). Only thin gauges also. So far I’ve liked Hyper G 18 and RS Lyon 1.20. Working on Tour Bite Soft now and not quite grooving with it as much as I have with the other two.

Don't have thin gauge strings in my collection.

How do you think 1.25mm shaped copoly (comparable to RPM) with 1.3mm synthetitc gut would work?

Or 1.25mm copoly in a full bed?

Fancy meeting you here :) Our friend GD is back at it again. He's created a new thread. Did you know? He's making it look like he's reformed but he still can't help himself :)

Anyway, we're talking 93P now. I'm trying it out tonight as a demo. I've restrung it with a 1.25mm shaped copoly @41 lbs on the mains and 1.25 synthetic gut on the crosses @43 lbs. My poly is not RPM Blast by any measure but it's still shaped.

Very similar to what I'm going to try, let me know how you like it!

So had a hit last night. The HexPoly 17g/SynGut 17g hybrid worked fine. I had no issues. Power, spin, comfort, control all there. I think I could use a lower tension maybe at 38/40 to soften the stringbed a bit more and still retain control.
Did you prefer this over full poly, can you elaborate where you liked it more or less?

#25
Haven’t had a chance with full poly yet. But the hybrid guarantees that I retain the arm comfort that I need for my ultra sensitive elbow and at the same time allow me to hit the amount and level of spin I expect. I'm pretty sure I can play full poly too but I would have to string it at about 35 for starters.

Going to get new strings in my 93P: Legend Gut mains at 50lbs and Kirschbaum Max Power 18 at 42lbs. First time I've tried a stiffer poly in a long while so we'll see if my arm holds out. If not, I'll go back to gut/cream.

Went out this am and hit with the Gut/Max Power combo. Reminded my a lot of my Tonic/Alu power hybrids of yesteryear. Definitely stiffer than Cream even at 42 lbs and 18 g. Arm felt fine but I guess we'll see over time if I can handle it in this frame.

I remember now why I liked gut/stiff poly combos. Amps up both the spin and control and at the lower tensions I was getting a lot of power. Can't believe I started out using 16g strings at mid-50's tensions with this racket. It gets so much more fun to use when you drop the tensions and gauges and really open up the sweet spot.

Looking forward to playing a doubles match tonight with this setup to see how it serves.

About 8-9 hours in having strung my 93P with RS Lyon 17L @ 45/40. It's...ok I guess? For full-bed poly this is middle of the road for me.

Compared with the previous 16g synthetic gut job strung at 55lbs, probably a bit more spin / higher launch angle, and a bit more noticeable power. In terms of feel it offers nothing substantial. I did win an epic singles match against someone similar level to me narrowly (5-7, 7-5, tiebreak 11-9).

Will try another string set-up when it's time to change strings.

I played with this frame today for the first time and I notice where all the love is coming from, tryed it with strategem 8 at 46/44 lbs ish. My stringer messed something up and he skipped a cross weave, ending up in the mains skipping 3 crosses instead of 1 somewhere in the middle of the stringbed. It felt too bouncy and the contact time with the ball was too long.

I decided to try it anyway because I was too excited to play with this stick. Very comfortable, instantly notice the flex. Head shape didn't feel problematic for me, sweet spot was larger then expected but because I have very spin oriented strokes I had to adapt my play style to this. People say it is a low powered frame but I didn't feel like I was lacking any.
I think strategem 8 could be a solid choice if strung right, next time I'm stringing it at 50/48lbs.

After that I hope to try a poly/syngut hybrid.

Will hopefully get you a real update soon.

I'd play a few more times once the strings settle in a bit. You might find 50/48lbs a bit boardy.

I'm really enjoying gut/poly hybrids in the frame. Right now using Legend 17g /Max Power 18g at 50/42 lbs.

Will be getting it strung today after a few days off. (Stiff) Poly mains + synthetic gut crosses. What tension would you guys recommend. Strings are inbetween 16 and 17 gauge.

poly at 42lbs and syn gut at 48lbs

Gut/max power is a really good setup in this racket. I'm getting a very nice combination of spin, power and control. I'm using 18g max power and 17g Klip Legend. Gut mains at 50 and Poly crosses at 42lbs. So far not bothering my arm in the 93P but it bothers me in my POG 107.

Biggest thing I've noticed is how much my 2HBH improved with this setup. Can really get some drive to it on returns and DTL winners which is nice. And fortunately no downsides on my other shots. Bit more oomph on my overheads too.

I played today with poly at 44 and gut at 46 lbs, felt too boardy for my taste, contact was rough.

I'm browsing thin strings as we speak.
Anyone have experience with the following?

Pro's Pros Hex-Power (1.18mm) https://www.prospro-tennis.nl/tenni...d/pros-pro-hex-power-200-m.-tennissnaar/1532/ (also the green would look amazing, is this a solinco hyper g clone?)
Pro's Pros Cyclone Power (1.2mm) https://www.prospro-tennis.nl/tenni...os-pro-cyclone-power-200-m.-tennissnaar/1496/ (volk cyclone clone?)
Pro's Pros Cyber Power (1.2mm) https://www.prospro-tennis.nl/tenni...s-pro-cyber-power-wit-200-m.-tennissnaar/103/ (clone of ... ?)

What were the gauges? As I said I'm using 18g poly at 42 and I think I could go to 40 TBH.

Unfortunately I've found the Max Power/Gut hybrid a little too tough on my arm and will be returning to gut/Cream hybrid. Only soft co-polys for this arm. Too bad because I get a bit better consistency with a firm poly in the cross. But it's not worth wrecking my arm.

Tried a handful of poly crosses for natural gut on my 93P - can't go wrong with max power 18, but I recently discovered Lux Timo 18 (1.10mm) and it really does a phenomenal job of taming the natural gut's power and it feels like it assists with spin potential as well. It's unfortunate I did not discover Timo sooner, otherwise I would have bought a bunch during the Luxilon sale with my batch of gut sets. I've settled on this setup for the winter league season, but after that, I'm looking forward to trying out the new Tier One Ghostwire which will offer a 1.10mm gauge.
