Yeah it's really a platform frame IMO and needs weight between 10 and 2 and weight in the butt cap. Once it's brought up to a players frame specs it shines.

I've played it stock and at various other weight configurations, I'd recommend a minimum of 320 grams unstrung as the base weight.
@ProRadTour
Sounds like the weight distribution of a triple threat set up frame.
Since the port frames were released that is how I have weighted my frames.

Well, I got a heads up on a new TT95 w twaron visible in throat area, sold on **** (but didn't manage to find it).
I think I found that picture a couple of months or so ago - didn't screen shot/save it; (d'oh) it was hard to see if the Twaron was there - looked like it was to some degree - or if what was visible was more just the braided pattern the TT95 has on the throat. Here's hopin'! (If they could just stiffen the hoop a tad and maybe add a couple of square inches while they're at it lol)

Oh, did you buy this off that one bay seller located in NJ? Does it say on the racquet whether it has Twaron?

I didn't. I thought about it but waited for the 93P instead.

I assume that has Twaron because of the throat. That throat layup looks the same as the new Beast racquets that have Textreme/Twaron

Yes, that was exactly my guess, and TW's Jon hinted that my suspicion might be correct.

The current TT95 also has that braided look on its paint scheme but it is all black and hardly noticeable.

Thanks for posting! That looks so tempting.
Small diffs in the PJ from the old TT95: "320" @12 instead of "midsize", "tour 95" (on the outside) @9 instead of "tour"/"95"
Different throat area for sure. Is this actually visible material (twaron) or a PJ similar to the tungsten one on the Triple Threat f.inst.?

A new string to add to the list for testing the Phantoms is the Technifibre Multifeel black. Check out the TW review on this string. The tension maintenance, spin, control and most important comfort are all top class. Because it is a multi you will also get good power, but not too much with this one. It is said to have great snap-back which allows for more spin. The TW test team was really pleased with this string.

I should be taking my Phantom Pro 100P out tomorrow for a spin! I'm going to string it with a poly/multi hybrid. I'll report back afterwards.

Okay so, had my first hit with a Phantom tonight. The Pro 100P, strung fresh with Solstice Power @ 42 and Origin @ 46.5. Thoughts:
- Feels amazing.
- Grip was small, needs an overgrip. This is coming from someone who likes Babolat L4 grips with an overgrip on top. I used to play with two OGs on my Prince and Volkls.
- Swings like butter.
- FH was okay after a few shanks. It really forced me to take a full stroke, which is good and bad. Good because it helps my form tremendously. Power was good when I was in position and took a full cut (expected).
- BH was okay, never quite dialed in, but didn't hit too many (I'm FH-centric).
- Slice was very good. Not spectacular, but very good. Low, biting, easy.
- Serve was very good with placement and spin, okay in power. You definitely need to hit your spots to make this a service weapon because you won't overpower with pace. But, the spin is very good, and I could hit better kickers.
- Touch was good, although I was off tonight with my touch shots (on all racquets, so not just this one). It was okay at the net, although I suck there, so I can't really rate.

My overall thoughts: This is a fantastic racquet IF it fits your game. It does what it is advertised to do. If you go into this expecting stiff power, you are way off base. You need good form and footwork to unlock this. That should be known going in. I need some more hitting with it to really get an idea (only did a set and a half), but I like it. Could I switch to it full time? Maybe, probably yeah. It would take me some time to adjust. The biggest difference was launch angle. To get depth, I needed to aim way higher than I'm used to. When I did that, it was fine. When I didn't, I was hitting extremely short or clipping the net. It is very launch-angle sensitive. I found that hitting with a more Eastern grip and swinging up and through was necessary. You have to swing through for sure, because if you just brush, it will hit the net. One note is that my shoulder was actually sore because I was swinging harder (too hard?) with it.

I think that if I switched full-time, my game would adjust and I would do fine. But at the start of a new season, when I am playing well, I can't afford to make that change. I am too dialed-in with my stiff racquets. So I will keep it for sure and hit with it again, and maybe switch one day (next offseason?), but for now, I can't risk such a drastic change.

So that's a very convoluted review, but I like it. But aim higher.

@beltsman what made you choose the PP100P over the PP100? What you wrote about the PP100P being launch angle sensitive caught my attention. Does it have a similar launch angle with the Yonex EZ DR98? I couldn't make the DR98's launch angle work for me.

It seems many of today's frames are designed for poly and it's even the recommended string by the manufacturer. I can only play with multi due to past arm injuries and high launch angles and multifilaments don't make a very good combination.

I chose the PP100P over the P100 because it had better reviews and I didn't think the SW was that high. I knew the frames would be low powered, so I opted for the more powerful out of the two. I also like the classic box beam.

Keep in mind, my review is only from one short hitting session. I was using a shaped poly/Origin hybrid. I have not played with the DR98, but I do own the Ai98 and the DR100. I find that the Ai98 and DR100 both hit very flat. I struggled to make their launch angles work for me.

I don't have flat strokes. I hit with a lot of aggressive spin off both wings. Full bed multi has not worked for me in the past, in any frame. I have played with some open frames (read: high launch angle) where even with full poly I said whoa, this is crazy, no way (for example Pure Aero, Pure Drive). This was not one of them. I don't know how it would perform with purely flat strokes, and I am confident I could succeed with this frame if I took the time to adjust. But like I said, right now at the beginning of the tennis season, I don't want to make a huge change. But I'll keep the frame because I like it a lot.

I will say, I certainly don't think this frame was designed for polys. If you played a fully poly in this, you would struggle to generate any power. It's also not a hugely open pattern. It's like the PCG100. It's just about the perfect balance of open vs control. The only thing about the launch angle is that, for me, to generate depth, I had to aim higher than I am used to. For a stronger player that might not be necessary. The pattern itself isn't super open though. It doesn't spray balls.

How are you guys feeling about serving with the PP100? I love it at the baseline and even more at the net, but can't really get my serves dialed in yet. The serve improved after adding weight, but I'm still struggling a bit generating pace.

Things get better the more you play. Your first hit mirrors mine. Once you figure it out more it really talks to you. And like most of us using it I think you may also end up adding weight in the upper hoop at 12. Slice becomes more deadly, groundstrokes get heavier with more penetration and half volleys feel easy.

I thought I would just add a few comments since I have recently purchased the PP 100P. I thought the frame performed well with a regular synthetic gut, Gosen OG Sheep Micro 16 with a tension in the low 50’s. I did add 3 grams of lead on the butt of the handle and the 3 grams at the hoop at 10 and 2 along with a grip change to a Wilson contour. The total weight is roughly about 333 grams strung. I found this racquet had decent power and good spin potential on all strokes. The only downsides for me if I was trying to hit a backhand drive out of position the power was a bit low. The backhand slice was the highlight for me as well as the return of serve. I was able to crack some real penetrating returns that put my partner on the real defensive and even hit a few winners. The real downside for me was the serve. I just couldn’t generate any real pace. I am still unsure about switching to this racquet but do like it very much. I also don’t think the RA is 59 as the upper portion of the hoop played a little firm. The sweet spot is quite generous. I couldn’t see playing with a poly as the racquet is too low powered.

I am also trying the Pro Kennex 5G as I have some elbow and shoulder issues.

I have played with the Wilson Blade 2015 16 x 19 for about a year but the control is lacking.

At the end of the day, I can see making a change to the 5G or the PP 100P. My is not centered around my serve so either frame will force me to improve my technique which has been a work in progress for the last few years. When I am playing regularly my level of play is on the 4.5 level. Glad to hear that PP 100P has sparked a lot of interest.

Even at mid tension in a synthetic gut like prince duraflex I felt the power was too low. Poly users best to string at 40 to low 40s.

In stock form it is under powered frame. But just 2g of lead at 12, and counterbalance with lead at the top of the handle helped. Power is just fine. I strung mine with pull bed of yonex ptp at 23/22 kg

Beltsman, you might want to switch your hybrid to Origin Mains and Solstice crosses. Might give you the easy power you seemed to lack. I play Origin/Velocity in my Phantom 100 and that really helped. Plus throwing in lead at 12 o’clock as others have said.

It has all ready high sw so with 2 gr at 12 you ll have aprox 336sw, i play also with yptp 1.50 at 19kg that helps the power level and 0.5gr at 12

You're probably right.

These are the specs I got from TWE (racket matching):

Prince Phantom Pro 100 P (grip size 3, strung w/syngut iirc):

Rck.# Weight Swing weight Balance Stiffness
1. 324.4 311 32 57
2. 324.3 306 31.6 58

4. 324.6 304 31.6 58
5. 325.4 310 31.7 59

Sorry, I just copy-pasted it from the TWE reply e-mail. They were Phantom Pro 100Ps.
I'll edit the post.

Btw. I went for the #3, with an RA of 54, which just goes to show these metrics are only part of the equation, as the frame itself doesn't feel noodly at all. Same goes for my Graphite Pro 90's (from around 86), a model that has measured below 50 acc. to some TT posts.

Thats very strange, from 329 sw they advertising, to 306-311 sw

This broadly accords with the SW numbers i had on RDC testing. But i was "lucky" and got one with a SW of 319. bear in mind the 17 gauge syn gut they have in these is very light, so SW jumps a bit when you put in a heavier string. That said, they do seem to be largely "under".

Those are crazy low SW numbers. They seem like unstrung specs.

Nope. They were all strung with a prince syntgut string. I asked them to double-check, and it their machine was properly calibrated. They replied that it was (since all their others measurements for other frames had been within expected intervals). The same goes for the fact they were pre-strung, as they explained to me they couldn't cut out the strings to get unstrung specs, as most customers appreciated the free string.

Ime, changing from the stock Prince syntgut to a 1.2 or 1.3 poly adds quite a bit of SW. I'd say the one I had played in the 315sh range, strung with a gut/poly hybrid.

Old guy here with another 5 hrs over Weds and Thurs nite playing doubles leagues with younger players using the PP100P. Weds I was switching back and forth a bit between PCG 100 and PP100P, both 16x18s. Got home and restrung the PP100P with 18g Tour Bite x 18G Black Magic, 52/56 using a Neos 1000 lockout. Had a good time with it last night, especially on touch shots. No one mistakes me for Nadal on the baseline anyway so I am pretty sure I'll stick with the PP100P. So far have tried poly/syngut, Ashaway Kevlar x Zyex and Poly/Poly in it. I ordered some natural gut to try in the PP100P using Zyex as a cross. I like hitting with the PP100P better than the Textreme Warrior 100 and PCG/Tour 107s. I do think it is better at volleys and digging up low balls near the net than my cut to 27" PCG 100LBs.

I checked my Power Pro 90 (93), Powerflex 90 (93), PCG100s, Tour 93s, all are 19ish mm at the throat while the Phantom 100P is 16ish.
How is the Power pro 90 flex in comparison to the phantoms flex?
Wonder what the flex of your power pro is? Any ideas? Always wanted to hit with this again

Prince Power Pro 90
Weight - 355/12.4
Flexibility – 53
Swingweight – 330
String – 14/18

I can't wait to get a Phantom 93P at my price to compare with the Power Flex and Power Pro 90s (both 93"). The PPP93P has a 18x20 vs the latter twos' 14x18.

The more I played with the Phantom 100P the less I liked it, especially compared to PCG 100 and it was the flex.

I have 3 of these to compare to the much earlier Power Pro/Power Flex 90s. This is much stiffer than either of the Power series. I am thinking there had to more or some fiberglass in the Power series vs these newer sticks.

I have to presume powerflex 90 it’s waaay flexier than the PGC .
But what I’m curios to know if it’s more flexy than the phantom 100 at its 54 rdc

Oh heck yes, the Power series 90s, both the Flex and Pro, are much more flexy but not in any kind of disconcerting way. If I had had great lessons as a junior and was 6'4" 210lbs I would love to cream serves with the 93" Power series.

When my reel comes in I am going to string both the Power Flex and Pro 90s with Zyex full bed. I'll also string a 93" PCG Midplus the same as the Power twins. I have found this string full bed works well for me in the PCG 100s.

I think I would love the power flex 90 as long as it’s super noodle flexy .. provides no power and mushy like wood . Sounds strange but I love a ridiculously flexible frame. Plus that racket would look great with a matt black paint job .

Plus I love the grip shape princes have . 4 and1/2 is perfect .. now I just need one to experiment with . Get the weight down to like 11oz strung .. can it be done yes..... but first I need to get one .. wished to god someone had the flex measurements on line ..

Thinking about buying my girlfriend a phantom. She has been using a knockoff APDO but want to get her something legit and easier to use. She is beginner level 5ft tall asian girl and petite, so something easy to swing is nice.

I was primarily looking at the Prince Phantom 100 ported and Phantom Pro 100. I am hesitant about the Phantom Pro 100P due to the box beam being not as nimble through the air?

The other option would be the beast 100 or 98. Probably ported versions for some extra comfort even though higher RA. Due to the beam thickness and drag I would stick to the ported versions.

I was leaning toward the phantoms because they should come through the air easier and I would probably just put a multi or gut in for some power. The phantom is also much lower RA for comfort and looks sweet. Any opinions from people who have tried these? I perused through this thread but it goes one way then the other. Unsure how the ported version stacks up too.

edit* I was looking through the phantom thread and the ported version seems like a really cool frame. Although it will be difficult to switch to if I wanna stuff around from the 93P. I am going to probably purchase it due to the feedback, it has a nice loyal following and seems to offer a lot in a lighter package. I appreciate all the great reviews and information in both threads. Still time to change my mind while waiting for cash :)

I play with the ported Phantom. It’s still got some solid weight and SW so it’s not going to be as nimble as a 10 oz pure drive lite. Really depends on what your GF faces on a day to day basis. If it’s flat bunted strokes at low pace and lobs, then a lite OS racket might serve her better. The ported Phantom is still a players frame at heart and requires full strokes to get the most out of it.

Well I am trying to teach her to use her body to produce power and this will help I think. The Phantom 100* seems like a great frame reading your input. Sometimes I am a jerk and smack some heavy balls at her and she holds up well considering she hasn't been playing long.

I would prefer to stay away from lite frames from babolat and others, they are usually stiff and bad for the arm anyway. She loved hitting my TC97 18x20 and when she went to the fake APDO it was not very solid and she was complaining about it twisting. Had to lead around the hoop to fix it for her but its comfy with so much silicone in the butt.

Phantoms don't give a lot of free power and the flex might not be her taste. I think a better starting point would be the textreme warrior 100 and warrior 100t. They are solid frames.

I was going to reply along the lines of tata's response. I don't want to say it's not the racquet for her, but judging from your description I'm not sure it would be.
Why not get some test racquets? Phantom + Warrior for example.

After having a break for about 3 weeks with a knee injury I went out for a very light hit last night. I was hoping to make my selection of the Head Graphene Touch Prestige MP or the Yonex VCORE Pro 97 (330). I won't go into details as that's not what this thread is about. But suffice to say last night I just wasn't feeling either of those rackets.

I brought out the Phantom Pro 100 that I've played a lot with, and was going to be my backstop if I had elbow niggles (which I did feel with those other couple of rackets). Immediately noticed and greatly appreciated the softer feel and comfort. And this is taking into account the same Völkl Cyclone 18L string (Sergetti stringing) in all of my rackets. Spin also increased, and I was also getting more natural depth. Interesting!

I had the 100P in the bag as well and customised to my specs. So I thought why not? Not quite as comfortable as the PP100 but by no means uncomfortable (in this short hit anyway). Spin production as good as , or perhaps a little better than, the PP100. Good depth also. My hitting partner commented that the one additional thing they were seeing was more weight of ball, causing them more problem that the Prestige, VCORE or PP100.

Due to the reservations of the knee I was essentially doing zero footwork last night as a precaution. I'm actually so excited to take this racket out for a more complete hit just as soon as I'm able to.

I haven't played extensively with the TT100P but with my experience I'd say the Phantom is slightly higher but that could be due to string age on the racquet when I hit with it.

I think the real value and strength of Phantom Pro is that you don't have to be out there playing 24-7 to be able to play good tennis with it.
