Prince Phantom Pro and Phantom Pro100P

Of the non-ported Phantoms, which one is more comfortable? I'm sure many of you have compared. I have friend asking about comfortable racquet options but he really doesn't like ports.

So, did some testing and it looks like spin gains are negligible between a full poly and hybrid. Power numbers were also very similar, which supports that stroke mechanics play the biggest role in those regards. The biggest difference were more on launch angle, as my depth of shots dramatically decreased. Throughout the session, I avg'd 1300 rpm and 65 mph regardless of the string type. I did however, have to make stroke adjustments at some point with the polys, adding shape to the shot and taking off pace. At that point, rpm's jumped to the 2000s with the speed at around 50 on avg but I was forced to grind out points.

Sadly, thats not my game. I like to be an aggressive baseliner and I could not do that with my quality opponent. Had to switch back to the hybrid strings to flatten out my shot and penetrate a little deeper ;).

I have to say, Big Hitter Black 7 was the preferred between that and weiss cannon ultra cable. Felt softer, with better feel. The sweet spot contact was really nice.

Sticking to the poly/origin cross for now. I think the racket is just too low powered and the stringbed too dense to try and develop some kind of spinny game behind it.

I wonder if poly/multi is better for Phantom pro 100 or full bed of polys........
Lead tape needed for Phantom pro 100 to make it more stable ???
Thank you.

Have you tried Technifibre Multifeel black 16 or 17 guage? If you decide to do so, then start at the low end of the scale when stringing, around 45 lbs. (20 to 21 kg.).

Follow Up to my previous question - but I think it fits with the thread at the moment. Any peeps compare the power of the PP100 with some additional weight to the PP100P (stock). I love the pop of the PP100P, I think it's under rated. But if the weighted version of the PP100 is as good as everybody says, I need to give it a second look.

The Gamma DuraGuard clear headtape I use adds about 3g (.10 oz) around the head of the racquet and makes the racquet about 1 point less headlight.

OT, but Anyone know who still makes old school cloth head tape? I got some “Head” brand (get it?) this year, and it’s rubbery and sticks to the ground if I scrape it trying to pick up a ball, and doesn’t seem very durable.

I may just use photographer’s gaffer’s tape when this roll wears out. Which is basically what Head tape used to be anyway.

Anyone else notice the racquet Andy is holding on the cover of his podcast looks suspiciously like a blacked out PPP100P, but with Twaron?

I asked a question on the T-W instagram about a racquet ever having the 14x18 string pattern again (because I love the 14x18 string pattern on my Prince Original Graphite Mid and my Prince CTS Approach 90) and was told: "We think you might get excited about one racquet in particular that will be coming in the future." Yeah, I knew about the new Tours, but that pic looked a little to thin beamed and squared off for me at first blush. Maybe it was just wishful thinking. On closer inspection, that could easily be a Tour, but I still hold out hope that there might be a Twaron Phantom sometime in the future. I guess it makes sense to Demo the new Tours, to see how it really affects the playability. These frames are near perfect for me, so I’d hate for them to mess them up.

Chris mentioned, on another post, that two new Phantoms will be coming out around February. It would be nice if there was a ported version with the Twaron treatment and a 98 version with a 58 to 60 flex rating. I think the new Tour models are going to be stiffer and this would give room for the Phantoms to stand alone amongst the Prince series with their lower flex ratings. I really like the flex of the Phantoms. I hope that Prince keeps the Phantom series at a 61 or below rating, with or without Twaron.

Does any know Andy's height? Maybe some math wizards can figure out what size that new racquet is using the size of his head or hand as a frame of reference. LOL

I'm trying to decide to decide between the PP100 and PP100P cause my elbow hurts with my stiff Winson Burn CV. I have a very open grip and use lots of spin.

How is it that in the TW reviews of the Phantom Pro 100 and the Phatntom Pro 100P the power or higher in the first one?

The PP100 have less stiffness and also less weight than the PP100P.

Which one will be better for a player that hits lots of top spin?

PP100 for sure. You will enjoy so much.

Is it that much the difference between the two?

I like the stiffness lowered from the PP100 and maybe better top spin but I'm sorry for the lack of power against the PP100P.
Use a powerful poly at low tension and you will have ALL the power you need! :sneaky:
And your arm will feel so good that you will be able to hit with all your strength and with all the spin you can generate!!
Trust me, that frame is INSANE!!! My game has improved so much since I use it.
I personally use a hybrid Signum Pro X-perience 1.18/Pro's Pro Synthetic Gut 1.30 at 23kg and it is simply awesome in every point.

May the green force be with you. :alien:

I just tried the PP100P and I'm waiting for the PP100 to arrive in a couple weeks.

The PP100P came with 52 pounds with Luxilon Alu Power strings.

The demo was good. Specially in the backhand side. But let's see with the new strings I'm putting.

I want to demo both PP100P and PP100 with same strings and tension so I went for this:

Technifibre X-one Biphase to put at 45 pounds.

Is it a good string and tension for this raquets?

X-one is maybe the best multi on the market. ;)
But it is not really spin friendly... If you want great spin and comfort, try poly/sgut hybrid.

Thank you for the help.

I made a mistake then. I'll go to the store to try change the strings. I don't have many choices in the shop here for strings.

I can get the Babolat RPM blast 15L or a Luxilon. Are they good options with 45 pounds tension?

RPM 15L is way too thick... And I don't know Luxilon strings but it is really too much expensive....
Why not buying online??

Will take a lot of time to arrive where I live before I have to give the demo raquet back.

I should get a thin poly then.

The string tension should be 45 right?

47lbs (21kg) is a good place to start. But it depends a lot with the type of string.....
Good luck!

It will be a fair comparative between these Phantom Pro.

The racquet pictures here are of a reissue of the Tour 16x18. The Phantom Pro is my racquet of choice at the moment but this is my all-time favorite with a fantastic new paint job.
