A PJ of the EXO3 Tour 100 16x18 or the black/orange Tour 100 16x18 that succeeded the EXO3?

I think it is the orange and black Tour 16x18 that replaced the first edition EXO Tour. Both editions had the EXO technology. The orange and black model was slightly stiffer.

I'm also a Phantom Pro guy but if the new Tour 100 offers a little more free power while still being comfortable, I may have to at least demo it...

The Wilson Clash also sounds pretty promising.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of that 'Wimbledon'/'White Out' cosmetic - I actually bought the matching 12 pack thermo - Pouille not so much of a fan apparently.

Finding the best string for a racquet can be a challenging experience, so testing numerous strings and laying down some hard earned cash is often not an option for the avid tennis enthusiast. I never use polys but have tried a few frames strung with them. I think the spin is really good but comfort and power are at the lower end of the scale. I have now given Technifibre Multifeel black 16 guage a thorough testing in two of my Phantom Pro's. The feel, power and comfort are first class. Access to spin was never an issue, it really performs in this area. I strung at 21 kg (45 lbs). This is one of the sweetest feeling setups that I have used with this frame. I will now test Multifeel in a Tour 100 16x18 and a Textreme Tour P. This will give me a good idea as to how all-round this string is. I will be testing for launch angle as well, as this plays a crucial role when using very flexible frames. Since I don't have to put out any cash for my strings, I am able to test many types of Technifibre and Prince strings due to my being sponsored. If any of you would like to know how a particular Technifibre or Prince string performs in the Phantom Pro, then I will do my best to accommodate you.

Fullbed of Multifeel?
What you think about Tecnifibre TGV vs Nat. gut?

All of my Phantom Pro's are strung with a fullbed of Multifeel black. I really like TGV. It is one of my all-time favorite strings. Compared to natural gut, I feel that TGV is one of the closest multi's to the gut like feel. But nothing can replace gut for it's elasticity and tension maintenance. Because of the power and expense of gut, some might prefer using TGV. Even though gut has a nice feel, I just really like the feel of TGV.

TF Multifeel is very unique for a multi in that it has great snapback and the strings don't stay out of position like most multi's. Definitely easier spin availability than other multi's I've tried. Comfortable, slightly crisp feeling. Biggest drawback is it isn't durable if you're a higher level player and hit a lot of spin. If you get free strings or don't mind re-stringing every 2 hours if you're a big spinner, then it's great in a fullbed. Otherwise, not so much. I'm planning to try it as a cross with a Natural Gut hybrid and see how that is.

Is it similar to velocity?

In my opinion, no. Velocity is a little "deader" feeling, a little lower power than MF, little better control than MF, less spin than MF, and more durable than MF. Trade-offs. If I had to pick one over the other for my game, I'd give the edge to Velocity because of the lower power, better control and better durability.

I'm thinking probably something like NG mains @ 55 and Multifeel crosses @ 50. This would be in either my minimally leaded up Phantom Pro 100p or my significantly leaded up Phantom Pro 100.

Multifeel (15L) is great but broke in 3 hours on clay with heavy spin/slice game.

I'm currently testing out Prince Tour XP 16 gauge poly in a full bed in my Phantom Pro 100p. I have elbow issues and so am trying it at a very low tension of 37x33. I've tried that string in another Prince frame and loved the pocketing effect I got. I like it so far in the Pro 100p as well, though the pocketing doesn't seem quite as pronounced. Even though it's just a round poly, the spin is impressive, and enables me to have very good control even at that low tension.

I'd be interested to know what you think of Prince Premier Touch in either the Phantom Pro 100 or the 100p. That's one I've been interested in trying out but haven't gotten around to it yet.

How would you compare Multifeel to HDX Tour, I think I remembered that you liked that string a lot. Is there a difference in feel between the neutral and black multifeel, sometimes dyed strings can play a little stiffer.

Cheers, Toby

I really like both quite a lot. Both strings are very comfortable. Both have good control as well. The Multifeel black 16 seems to offer a slight bit more spin than the HDX, but nothing significant. HDX in a 16x18 pattern is still very spin friendly. I have a supply of both strings. The HDX is 17 guage and feels a little more powerful and elastic. Tension is also a variable that has to be taken account of. I use 21 kg for both strings. Tension maintenance is a little better with HDX but again nothing significant. HDX will last longer than Multifeel.

Thanks HB - I play with both HDX Tour and Multifeel (both 17g and natural), I think I was inspired to get the HDX Tour after reading one of your threads. However I kind of like the Multifeel better (also the price), but I string around 24kg in a Prince TT100P, perhaps I will try them at 21kg. Thanks for your always great post. Cheers, Toby

It is also listed as Prince EXO Tour (Limited Edition) 100 16x18. Check out the picture section as well.

If they did an update the Tour 100’s with textreme, I’d be back in a second. Always thought with a tad firmer response (very low 59-61) and a little bit more pop, they’d be so awesome. That said, not sure I’m grooving with the new Tours in the 60’s RA range.

Great info from you..I’m looking at buying the Phantom Pro 100 and currently have quite a bit X One 16g on hand. Do you recommend this string in the PP 100 and at what settings.

I’ve also got a reel of RPM Blast 17g I’m currently using in my 2019 Pure Aero.

I’d like to try them as well in the PP100...appreciate your suggestions on both setups

Ericg thanks. I am happy to hear that you are enjoying this thread. I like X-One a lot and find it is a great string in a fullbed if you hit with moderate topspin or flat. I would start by stringing X-One at between 50 to 55 lbs. If you hybrid, then try stringing the poly at about 2 lbs less. Some pros like to string both hybrid strings with the same tension. Each player will differ because of personal taste and style. I am an all-court player who loves to use touch, so I string fullbed multi at 45lbs . This may be too soft for some but it is perfect for me. I don't use poly's because of their stiffer nature. When I played college and sectionals I used fullbed natural gut. The closest I get to a poly is HDX which is one of my favorites. I guess I just really like Technifibre multi's, they are really good quality strings that just don't compromise quality. If you want to try a fullbed of RPM blast start low, around 45 lbs. Let me know how this works for you. A lot of choosing a new setup has a lot to do with personal preference and experimenting. What I have suggested is just that, a suggestion. You might also want to reverse a hybrid setup to find out which setup is best for your style of play.

Since the PP100 is more flexible than the PP100P I wonder how the following setups would play. I'll go with 16g for tension maintenance and durability because the string patterns are so open. I have to use 17g multi with my 93P because the string pattern is dense. I don't use poly due to arm problems, so I'm not getting much help from the strings for spin.

PP100 with Velocity 16 (crisp string)
PP100P with Xcel 16 (soft string)

The answer is MONEY.

Prince doesn't have enough money to pay the pros like Wilson, HEAD, Babolat and Yonex.

Hi, even though i like both multis, in the Pro 100 i prefer Velocity, less movement, less power, less "chewing gum" feeling, better spin (slightly).

I get easy, heavy topspin with the 100P. I usually string with Hyper G 17g or Cyclone Tour 16g, and those certainly are spin friendly setups.

I'll have to try a crisp multi next...I've only ever used poly in the 100P.

Little word of advice. Very few pros use the rackets that they endorse. Most are using rackets with paintjobs that look like a retail model. There are some that are using 20 year old rackets painted up like new models.

So don't get sucked in by pro endorsements. It's a shell game to keep you buying rackets. Prince focuses its money on trying to make rackets that rec tennis players will actually enjoy hitting with. That's been their thing from the beginning when they brought out the first truly playable OS frames.

The Phantom 100s all hit good topspin. But I'm a believer that topspin comes from technique, strings and open stringbeds more than from the frame itself.

The nice thing about the phantoms is they allow you to use a very low tension poly and not hurt your arm. That's a spin bonus right there.

I finally got a Phantom 100 to demo and played my first match earlier today. Expected a different feeling, but still... WOW! It truly is as plush and soft as people say. I can't quite articulate it, but each shot with this thing feels so much nicer compared to my standard racket (Pure Drive). I had so much fun despite the fact the racket was a bit heavy for my taste. Someone added silicon to the handle, the static weight of the demo racket was 344 grams.

Actually, Phantom 100 isn't really the one I wanted to try, but that's the only I could get my hands on. I had my eye on the Pro 100. I'd like to hear from people who tried playing with both... were you able to get more power with Phantom 100 or the Phantom Pro 100?

I'm asking because Prince's power rating (on the racket itself) doesn't really match up with reports from TW playtesters. According to them, they feel the Pro 100 had more power. If I were to get the Pro 100, I could definitely live with it having about the same amount (or more) of power as the regular Phantom. However, I probably couldn't get by with even less.

As a closing thought, I'd like to add that I liked the fact that the racket made me play differently, more varied. I'm used to simply trading shots from the baseline and construct the point that way. However, with this one I found myself hitting drop shots and going for pretty extreme angles. It all added to the overall fun experience. Actually considering getting one just for kicks...

I've demo'd all of the Phantom models. In stock form, the Pro 100 is not a powerful racquet. When leaded up, though, it becomes a different creature. My personal power rating of the 4 Phantom models, in stock form, from most powerful to least powerful, would be as follows: Pro 100p>93p>100>Pro 100

I own a Pro 100p and a Pro 100. The 100p has a little bit of lead on it just to open up the sweet spot a bit (it didn't need much), but the Pro 100 has quite a lot of lead on it, to increase power and plowthrough. It and my slightly leaded up Pro 100p are very similar in specs now, but feel quite *different* in how they play. The Pro 100p feels more solid. The Pro 100 feels more flexy with a larger sweet spot. I still haven't decided yet which one I like better overall, still doing experiments. But I'd probably choose the Pro 100p to keep if I could keep only one. The 93p felt a bit unwieldy to me, and the Phantom 100 with the ports just felt too mushy and disconnected from the ball for my personal liking.

I have been playing the 93P for the past 6 months, and love the frame so much that I ended up buying 3 of them. It will remain my go to racquet for the next foreseeable future, but it is also a fairly demanding stick. I felt like I needed something something a bit easier to play, for the days when the feet don't move too quick (sadly, more and more of those as I have just turned 49). So I got a PP100P, which I will try tomorrow, with one of my regular hitting partners, who is about the same level as I (a good 4.0). I thought I'd go with something really similar in feel to minimize disruption.

My usual string set-up is Hyper G 17 @ 48lbs in the 93P, and given the more open string pattern, opted for a Hyper G 16L, also @48lbs. Bringing it home, I am quite surprised at the difference in sound when hitting the string bed. The 100P'sound is much, much lower, and feels noticeably looser. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, seeing that the head is bigger and the pattern open, but it has me wondering is this is not going to be way too loose. I play with a lot of spin on serve, moderate spin / flat forehand, mostly sliced backhand and come to the net to finish points. I am quite powerful and hit a heavy ball, which is why I appreciate the control of the 93P and the dead feel of the Hyper G - helps me keep the ball in court. It will be interesting to see how the 100P plays, and if I will eventually need to string it tighter.
