I don’t know about the 18x20 version but the 16x18 Pro 100 is a very nice frame. Great feel. I put a bit of lead, 3 inch strips at 3/9. Stable, plush and enough control for me.

Well well well, where did i bump into this one -
Prince Phantom Pro 100 18x20

? Nice review and specs. Is this the cure for TE? Is this similar to the older Prince tour 100 that had similar stiffness rating? Is this more arm friendlier than say prokennex ki5 320, prokenex q+ tour pro 315 and 325?

I have the 18x20. It’s a bit crisper than the ported phantom but more plush than the 93p. Its arm friendly like most Phantoms.

Seeing the stiffness rating is it more arm friendly that say prokennex q+ tour pros and ki 5 320?

I’ve only played the Q+ tours and they seemed pretty similar but i have no long term experience with PK. I do have a sensitive elbow and i can play 6x a week with the Phantoms and even have started back using some soft polys in my crosses.

How do you compare the PK Q+ tours to the Phantom pro 100 18 20 in terms of control, mass , stability, ease of use, comfort, power, spin?

It’s been 2 years since I tried a Q+ Tour so my recall is a bit vague. I’d give it strong kudos for stability, but I’d give control, balance, comfort to the Phantom. Spin was similar as were power levels if I can recall, but my Q+ demo did not have my preferred stringing and that largely determines power and spin in my frames.

Can anyone compare PP100P to VCORE Pro 97 330g Power and stabilitywise?

I like my Vpro97 330g, but I keep going back to 93p 18x20. I just wish the 93p had little more power and forgiveness.

Not much of an option while stringing 93p isn't it. One may string it low for some free power as it's just 93 headsize but then considering the fact that it's 14 18 string pattern , better to string it tight.

I've had a light hit with the vcore during a demo session with a friend. The vcore is just more beefier and naturally you'd expect more plow through, power and stability. My pp100p is 328g strung which is about the unstrung weight of the vcore.

I think lowering tension and or stringing with a multi will help. You can use weight to beef up a pp100p but I am not sure if that will give you the same feel why you gravitate back to the 93p but in a more forgiving package. It'll probably be closer to your vcore maybe I rekon. I think the 93p is unique in its own way.
You may be interested in the more open pattern 93p or....if you care to try...get your hands on the old Prince tour diablo mid. 93 head size in 16x20 pattern. Same head shape as far as I can tell to the 93p. Very round. The Diablo mid feels more closer to a 97-98 and had a pretty good sweet spot from memory.

Is Prince Phantom pro 100 18 20 relatively light weight frame then esp while hitting against hard hitters? Is it stable at all or just known for control and comfort ?

Haven't played pro 100 18x20 so I can't comment. I don't think stability is an issue but the flex might give the illusion of being less solid.

Give the 93P (14x18) a try. Playtester Sean moved from the VCP97 310 to 93P (14x18) so that be something.

Prefer the 18x20 93p. Strung with gut mains and smooth thin poly crosses at 50/45 lbs, it’s got plenty of power and spin. And never lacks control. Thing is a scalpel.

The 100 18x20 is not light weight, at least by today’s standards, and has a reasonably high twistweight indicating stability. I have some lead at the tip to increase plow on serves but have never felt I need lead at 3 and 9.

Nice. I have a similar frame Wilson Prostaff 95S. Would you be able to compare these similar rackets, one with 14 18 pattern and the other with 16 15.

I always string two piece, and start at the head/top.
Hi Tordne,
You have mentioned several times that you use Sergetti method of stringing. I visited their website to learn more.
Would you please share you experience with it by comparing regular 2 piece stringing (PP Pro100) vs Sergetti (if you have done so)?
Thank you in advance for your time.

@Tordne 's post is one of the best regarding the Phantoms. If only he would write about the flip side and describe the differences too. Please @Tordne ? Specifically the string spacing differences and the beam shape characteristics. Based on what he wrote, I'm leaning heavily towards the Pro 100 because I like flex and if the 59RA isn't that much different from the 100P's 62RA, then it's not worth the switch.

I don't think the string pattern is enough of a change if the flex also isn't significantly lower as I thought the 100P wasn't flexible enough. Even the TT95 with its 60RA wasn't flexible enough for me. The new Pro 100P is only one point less and has the same string pattern (16x18), albeit on 95" versus 100" hoop.
Hi. I have been reading your reviews about the phantoms. Thanks for your in depth a analysis. Are you still using a phantom ? And what are your thoughts on the 18x20 bs pro 100 ?

I’ve removed all of the weight from my Phantom Pro 100, and added a Prince calfskin grip. I’ll be really interested to give this racket a try at such a light weight, SW is only 316. I often have to remind myself that adding weight has to deliver something tangible, not just achieve a specification I’m used to. Timing will be off I expect, but will be fun anyway.

Sorry been absent for a bit on here :(

I tried using the Phantoms (many of the variants) as a comfortable racket option. While, for me, there is much to love about it, in so many matches I was playing I just felt disabled on serve. I felt like I was having to fight so hard to hold serve. On many occasions in the middle of a service game I'd go change rackets and immediately get out of the game (hold). Pretty much for that sole reason I just couldn't adopt the Phantom long term.

For a while I was playing with the Head Graphene Touch Radical MP, but the last few weeks I'm playing the Yonex VCORE 98 305.

I'm sure I did do a regular string job on the Phantom originally, though I generally do buy the Sergetti sheet for even rackets I'm trying (to give them the best chance of success in my consideration). I guess I like the scientific approach to achieving a more uniform stringed tension based on variable tension of pretty much every string pull (or pairs on mains). For my wife, who doesn't always make the best contact (especially on volleys) she swears by the Sergetti string job. She says it feels more stance and power levels don't drop off and die out by the frame. If you haven't already I would definitely recommend giving it a go.

Will Prokennex score better in free power department say ki 5g classic or 320 or q+ tour pro? Ofcourse comfort is important.
Didn't low tension help ? Were you not atleast able to hold serve through top spin serves If not flat fast serves ?

If I was playing a casual Sunday social match then I'd have no problem at all. But in competition matches with 5.0 or greater NRTP players a bit of slice or kick on a serve just doesn't cut it :). I took tension down to 40lb and it really made little difference. I had several occasions of fighting for like 6 or more deuces with the Phantom. Then I like "screw this" and run to my bag and pull out another racket and hold serve with two serves. Don't get me wrong, they're outstanding frames, but for me I just cannot be as effective as I need to be in those hard matches.

Thanks. Got it. I am strong intermediate club level player who plays on weekends but not tournaments. I do get what you said. So i am now even more confused if i should go with Prokennex 5g/ ki 320 (cant demo them and not available in my country) or Prince Phantom 100 18 20, lol. Thats just me.

I've been able to get my hands on both the Phantom Pro 100 US edition and the Phantom Pro 100 XR Japanese edition and am testing them side by side.

Though they have a similar feel (akin to the 16x18 EXO3 model), they are in a completely different class stability wise. I feel like the Japanese model fixes the vagueness issues with the US model while still remaining flexy and maneuverable. Here are some comparison pictures. For me, I have finally found a proper replacement for my Tour 100 and EXO3 tour in the Phantom Pro XR.

With TW’s 4th of July sale ongoing I was wondering if any of you could catch me up on how this frame hits. I currently play mostly doubles and exclusively use the PP 93P, but I could use a more forgiving stick for singles and rallying. I demoed the 100P awhile back and liked serving with it but I don’t remember much else. Any guidance y’all have would be appreciated!

Anyone comment here on mods they made to their Phantom 100 Pro here? Recently purchased a Head Gravity Pro and really enjoy the feel on ground strokes and stability is sublime but the serving is very cumbersome. Played with a modified prince classic graphite 100 for years and even with the weight I added at 10 and 2 didn’t feel
As stable as gravity pro in stock.

Curious to what people have done here and if they find the plow and stability necessary.

Key to that feeling of stability at contact is higher swingweight. Gravity pro has a generous swingweight of 335ish. Try adding some weight centered at 12 to get it into the 330s.

I have a Phantom 100 that I heavily weighted (old school) to get the higher swing weight I like, but with a head light balance. It’s just me, but I’m not a fan of just adding weight at 12 to increase swing weight. So my O-ported Phantom has a heavier leather grip and about 20g lead just above the handle (inside throat) for a total weight of 360g and a swingweight of approx 340. That setup keeps my swing mechanics and footwork true and smooth. But coincidentally, like Tordne above, I pull out my red VCORE 98 when I’m feeling slow and underpowered against younger bigger hitters. My VCORE 98 is also customized to be more head light with a heavier leather grip, a little weight in the butt cap (not the throat), for a total weight of 340 but keeping swingweight at around 325. My swing speed and topspin goes way up with the Yonex, leading to more winners and shorter points ... but more points are also shorter due to more unforced errors with that whippier “NextGen” swingweight.

Guys, help me decide.

Textreme Tour 310g
Phantom Pro 100
Wilson Blade 104

I'm a baseliner, grinder. Having some shoulder issues so comfort is priority.
Right now I play with Phantom 100P Pro but craving for some more power.

Thanks!

Power level is 875 for the new 03 Tour 100.
And the Beast is really too much powerful, to my opinion... And really less comfy.

Which Phantom Pro does everyone prefer for 2HBHs? The PP100, PP100P or PP100P (18x20)? I'm switching away from the 93P (18x20) because I'm going to transition to a 2HBH to save my arm. Hitting a one hander is fun with the 93P, but it's a lot of wear and tear on one arm when I could reduce the wear if I switched to a two hander. The 93P doesn't feel right to me when swung with two hands, it feels like a wiffle ball bat.

I have Phantom 100P Pro. For some reason I don't like it so much on 2HBH, but love it on forhend.

I find the 93P to be one of the best I have ever used for 2 handed backhands. I can rip the ball harder and more accurate. The 14x18 93P was good on backhands but not nearly as hard or as accurate but crosscourt was deadly. The ported Phantom is just average on the 2 hander.

Dont listen to these comments about the Phantom pro 100 18x20. This stick is the most comfortable stick I have ever hit with. I have come from extreme bicep tendinitis and know within an hour if a frame will cause issues. The PPP 18x20 allows me to play days and days pain free at a 5.0 level and above. Dont be fooled by these people saying no pop on serve. I have hit some of my fastest serves with the ppp 18x20. And this is coming from the 97RFA and speed pro 360 which I played with before the Phantom 18x20. Touch and power are easy with the Phantom pro 18x20. Best stick I have ever hit with and for me it's the grail. Nothing beats the thin feel and plush pain free contact. Buttery on many levels while still allowing for massive spin shots... I use it with a 4 1/4 grip size and replace the grip with a leather grip. Add a yonex super grap overgrip and a rubber band dampener.... that's it. Currently using pro signum xperience 17g full bed 50lbs. Havent ever thought to add lead because it doesn't need it. The static weight and swingwieght close to the RFA 97 but way whippier and less cumbersome and of course pain free.
