Prince Premier Attack getting updated!

Hey guys. I just heard from my rep that Premier LT, Premier Attack, and Beast are all getting updates for the Oct product release.

I'm not surprised with improved LT and Beast, but leave my Attack alone! Hahaha.

Apparently, that's why it's been discounted to $7 a set on TW.

Time to save the reels...

Personally, if it means we'll get it in Europe, it's very good news. It's hard to find sets of PPA, let alone reels of it. If they manage to make it crisp too, it's win-win. Or even more spin friendly. Or less sensible to frame shots. The string is firm, but not crisp sadly.

I hope it actually gets improved. Sometimes updates don't work out for the best. On the other hand, that does mean it will continue as a product, which is a good thing.

I notice that Lightning XX and XX Spin just went on a big sale as well. I checked one of TWs competitors and they list it as "Closeout." It's my wife's string of choice so I may end up picking up a reel.

IMO...testing out the new products in a similar blind fashion of 361 would be a great way to find out if there is an actual improvement.

Yes, they are discontinuing Lightning Spin.

I think it's a great playing syn gut, but it's durability is terrible.

I just broke the news to her. I asked if she wanted to try any other strings and she replied "I don't want to geek out. I just want to play tennis. Get a bunch. When there is no more of it in the world I will think about switching."

So... looks like I'll be placing an order.

So... how many reels?

Maybe they're trying to make them more spin friendly or/and resistant to cope with the ESP frames they'll be releasing.

EDIT: Oh yeah, now I remember where I read about these new strings. The new Beast is the "Beast Battle". There's also a triangular orange co-poly.

Beast Battle was supposed to be it's own string. There is supposed to be an update to "regular" Beast.

Just one. She only plays about 6 months a year, once or twice a week at the 3.0 level. One reel plus the few packs I have should last 2-3 years.

Curious about the update to Beast. It's an ok string, just not good enough for me to pay what they are asking. I would like to see them come out with a good string that could compete in price with Tourna's offerings. It would also be nice if the new management made a decision to actually price their reels so there is a discount vs packs.

Completely agree...this never made any sense to me.

I think if Beast were originally priced around $12, it would have been way more popular. $15 is a lot to ask, even for Luxilon strings.

too funny.
The demo racquet came with orange Lightning XX Spin 16 @ 58. When she bought, that is what she requested. I strung the racquet with a few other strings the first summer, tried a couple tensions and she still goes back to XX Spin @ 58. I suppose there is something to be said for consistency.

Oh great. I see this going the way of New Coke, Isospeed Control (non Classic) and Pro Supex Maxim Touch (non Classic).

I really hope not. I know you're a fan of PPA (as am I).

The good part is that they did make an improvement wren going to PPA from Syn Gut Multi.

I think I may try this string seems like it's good for spin generation.

Do multis also die like Polys?
Of course not. Multis are good until breakage. Except if you've lost too much tension, but it doesn't become nasty for your arm like co-poly. Should try RIP Control if you want spin. Multi isn't as good as co-poly for spin.

I just strung up Beast/Attack hybrid for the first time and love it. Great spin and even better feel. I had some trouble with a full bed of PPA stiffening up after 8-10 hours or so. Hopefully the hybrid combo lasts a bit longer and the changes aren't too extreme.

You'll probably still be able to get Original Lightning and Premier LT Softflex as Ektelon racquetball strings, albeit in 38' sets.;)

Hi guys. Great news!

Premier Attack is changing to Premier Control, but the only real change is the name! They needed to rebrand the string to fit the marketing campaign, but the actual string is still the same!!!

That is great news. Let us know what else you discover this weekend.

They will change the name from "Attack" to "Control" with no change in the string itself? I suppose either name fits because, to me, it's an all-around string, but the name change seems to take it to opposite ends of the market.

They are coming out with 2 other multis: Power and Touch. So, they had to position Attack (a well liked string on these forums) in a way that made sense with the new offerings.

The new Premier Touch is really cool. It's totally transparent in appearance. Apparently, it's constructed pretty much like natural gut, but with synthetic ribbons instead of natural material. I got an early set a few weeks ago and it's a really interesting string...I really liked how it performed.

Do you know when the Power and Touch would be available to the public? I wonder what the price would be for those two new strings.

I will check today about release dates, but I'm pretty sure it's October.

The pricing on Touch will be a little higher due to the expense of manufacturing. Apparently, the process to make the string in the sane fashion as natural gut is expensive. They said it'll be around the same ballpark as X-one.

For a multi, PPA is fairly low powered and has above average (not ground-shaking but still) spin potential. There aren't that many multis that have as low ball pocketing (that I like) and power than PPA. HexyFiber/RIP Control are low powered too, but they have better pocketing (and spin). It hasn't real weak points though and I'm happy with it. I find the name pretty logical TBH.
