Prince Ripstick 280 vs Prince Legacy 105

Been contemplating whether I should give the Prince Legacy 105 a go or not. I currently play with the Prince Ripstick 280, coming from a +10 year romance with the O3 White, and in all honestly, playing better tennis than ever due to the decrease in weight. As this move has made such a significant change, I am wondering whether I can go even a bit further to a slightly longer and a bit more powerful frame, being the Legacy 105 (also 280g). On paper these are very similar, the Legacy is a bit more stiffer but a tad bigger and has a power level of 1300 compared to 1200 for the Ripstick 280. Anybody who has anything to input here or am I just being stupid to consider this (playtesting is not an option as I need leather and my own strings on the racket to properly compare)? Thanks!

I have used a O3 Legacy 105 as my singles frame & the O3 Beast 104 before that.
I think that it would be worth a try.
I have found the Prince power levels, for the same frame construction, to be fairly representative & linear..
I use a leather grip on my O3 Legacy frames, no other mods.

Good luck.

I'm very confused by legacy o3 105 when I demo'd it was amazing but after buying one its like the strings always feel way too resistant and tight and get nothing out of the string response, even with the same string as the demo down at 47 lbs. Idk if stringers dont know how to string its o3 frame properly or what

Issue with demo strings is due to TW using a LO to get to 47# and then it loses a lot of tension as people demo. Unless you know the actual tension in the demo when you got it, stringing at 47# will be too tight especially if your stringer used an eCP. The strings you got could easily be 40# or less.

I meant I strung the one I bought at 47, no idea what theirs was I'd imagine these companies string in 50s, express does for sure. Interesting though if it couldve been 40 or less thats a game changer maybe that was the key. But still I've never felt 47 feel so unresponsive and stiff... I had them string up a 2022 textreme ats as well same string at 47 at the same time and thats playing very well

I used (and still use occasionally) the O3 legacy 105. I strung it with gut/poly at 56lb and multi/poly 55lb before. Both made the racket felt stiff at first but after the tension dropped it felt good, especially the gut/poly hybrid. It is a powerful racket without a doubt but still has decent control. I did weigh it up a little bit with 2g total at 3&9, 5g overgrip, and 6g in buttcap.

Thanks guys for the feedback, much appreciated. I must say that the stiffness / tight remarks do worry me a bit. I have a sensitive elbow, so perhaps going up to 67 in RA might be a bit too much for me, in addition of course with the slightly longer length.

Did you ever find a good string setup for your Legacy 105?

I've bought one just for fun. Spec wise it's quite far away from what I'd usually play with.

The demo with prince premier control was really good but when I got my own strung with same string it was nothing like it 100x worse

Do you think the swing weight between the two rackets was different or something?

Prince premier control is a string I like a lot too.
No somehow the stringbed was way too stiff despite only 50 lbs multi and trying to break it in changed nothing... demo was perfect

That's a shame.

Mine came pre-strung with Prince syn gut. I'll give it one hitting session with those strings then maybe have it restrung.

I was thinking of using Prince Premier Touch at 60lbs. I want a powerful arm friendly setup that I can use outside of league play just for fun.

I was thinking the SW to be a bit more heavy on the Legacy, am I right?
I like HL frames and I personnaly chose the 280 Ripstick over the 300 in order to add weight in the handle and bring it to the 300 range with HL balance.
Nice combination to benefit some stability and comfort while maintaining good maniability and head speed.
