For the next week, use this thread to ask Prince questions about string, and they'll get back to you by 8/23.

Hey there TT members,

First off, thank you all for the great posts that have already been submitted. This is a new and exciting program, and we’re eager to engage with the TT community to help deliver products and information that truly help take your games to the next level.

Before we start answering questions, there are a few things to point out:

1. You are actually engaging directly with Prince product and player development managers . This is not a summer intern program. We are dedicated to taking our products and your game to the next level, and the best way to do that is to speak directly with you, the athletes.

2. While we’re always eager to make our products better, it's important that we hear not only what's NOT working for you, but also what IS working for you. We need both sides of the story in order to make your comments come to life.

3. Our ultimate goal here is to have an open and forward-thinking dialogue about the future direction of Prince products and all other areas of the game. Though some answers may not be to exactly what you hoped for, they will be detailed, sincere, and straight from the horse’s mouth.

4. We have extensive elite partnerships and the most knowledgeable staff in the sport, with expertise in nutrition, training, sponsorship, mental conditioning, etc. While we appreciate the product related questions, please don't hesitate to ask about these other important topics which can help take your game to the next level.

5. Please be aware that we will do our best to respond to every question asked, we must also conduct our daily responsibilities and continue to develop products and programs for athletes.

OK, with that out of the way... let's hear your questions!

Thanks,
Prince Tennis - Who's Next.

also if prince have plans to get more colors on the Prince Lightning Reel

Is Prince natural gut made by Babolat?

Also, is there any plans on making a new multifiliament string that has a bit more durability than the Premiere LT?

Any possibilty for black syngut duraflex, that doesnt release black paint onto tennis balls? - the string is not colored during process, but it has external layer of paint on it.

Do you have plans to phase out the Original Synthetic Gut?

TW barely carry it now (only sets, no reel), and elsewhere I only seem to find 100m reels rather than 200m.

It's still my favourite syn gut - if you're taking requests, please keep making it!

Thanks TW

Hi Kike,

Syn Gut 18: We currently offer Prince Synthetic Gut Duraflex 18 in white sets. So far, we haven't seen the demand necessary to offer it in reels. However, if we see enough demand, we'll certainly consider it!

Lightning XX Reels: At the moment, Lightning XX is only available in clear/silver in reels. We are currently deciding on additional colors, including black. In the meantime, we’d recommend Lightning XX Spin which is available in black.

Thanks,
Prince Tennis

I think Prince Recoil is a great product. I hope there are no plans by Prince to discontinue it.

Hi Aggfan,

Thanks! We’re glad you’re enjoying it. We put a lot of effort into ensuring Recoil stands alone in regards to string re-alignment and its revolutionary construction (thanks to the Teflon(R) outer wraps). Unfortunately, due to high manufacturing costs, we have no immediate plans to continue it. We share your disappointment.

Thanks,
Prince Tennis

Is prince going to release a textured version of beast xp

Hi Beast (nice name!),

Textured is definitely a trend in polyester strings. However, texture alone does not necessarily produce more spin. In ultra high speed video testing, Beast XP produced more ball spin than the leading textured strings. The technology used to accomplish this is a closely guarded secret at Prince. If we do develop a string that produces more ball spin than Beast XP, we will definitely introduce it.

Thanks,
Prince Tennis

Hi Parasailing,

While we do not disclose the source of manufacturing of any of our products, we can confirm that our gut string comes from happy cows raised on a well balanced diet. In all seriousness, our natural gut comes from a reputable factory with one extra touch – an added moisture barrier to protect the string and extend its life.

We will address the second part of your question in another reply.

Hi Ricki,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We were not aware of this product issue. We suspect this is an issue with the coating on the string and we will look into it immediately. In the meantime, we’d suggest trying our new multi filament string, Premier Attack Black, which provides more comfort and feel.

Thanks,
Prince Tennis

then someone didn't do their job in marketing. this is not something RSI talks about either. They say big hitter blue is the best. I think you need RSI and also some references to market the beast. otherwise, it's just a $$$ string that no one knows much about.

Unfortunately the Attack Black, which I really like, leaves little waffle marks on the ball as well.

Thank you for reply! Czech Prince distributor only replied with "they dont color". I am stringing these alot as crosses to poly mains and full beds also (string is great as cross to poly(black syngut and green beast look great in Rebel...) - its crisp and racquet plays very confortable)

Yeah, you gotta love Original Syn Gut.

I have been trying to contact Prince regarding permission to use photos of their strings and other products on my stringing website, to no avail... I am wondering if there is a better way to speak with an authority on this, or if it is possible to request permission with this post.

If anybody else happens to know how to get about this, please let me know!

Thanks in advance.

In regards to Prince Premiere LT string, I love the playability and power of this particular multi. However, the main issue I have with this string is the durability lasting me only about 4 hours.

Is Prince thinking of updating the string or possibly offering a new string that keeps the benefits of Premiere LT but increase the durability?

Since Recoil is being discontinued, what Prince string plays like it as a substitute. To me Recoil is primarily a control oriented string because it always realigns perfectly after each hit. String bed consistency appears to be directly related to control. If no Recoil, then what?

Hi Parasailing,

We are developing improvements for the Premier LT. In the meantime, we suggest trying Premier Attack which has a tri-core for added strength.

Hi DE19702,

We suggest trying Beast XP. It has a lower friction, thanks to a secret polymer additive that helps it stay aligned.

what makes beast xp different from other polys? I really like the feel, but a lot of people say it's nothing special...

Hi LambSheadrep,

Beast XP is produced using a sequential heating and stretching process, which optimizes the dynamic properties of the string. This is why we call it the world's first thermo-poly string. On the court, this means Beast XP will perform at a wide range of string tensions, and in a variety of string patterns and racquet types. Typically, polyester strings lose tension quickly, taking them out of their optimum tension range, and need to be restrung. Beast XP maintains tension much better, providing long term performance.

Beast does feel different than other polyester strings. We use a secret additive that gives Beast more elasticity, which is extremely rare in strings that have longer life. Beast also produces more spin than other polyester strings, including textured string. This is a result of the way Beast XP reacts during ball dwell time. While we cannot divulge how this is possible, we have been able to prove it using our ultra high speed video system where we can observe how strings react at various impact angles, and measure the resulting ball spin rates. So, back to your original question, Beast XP feels different than other polyester strings due to dynamic response, better tension maintenance, and higher ball spin rotation.

Thanks,
Prince Tennis - Who's Next.

Hi Dags,

That is like asking us to get rid of an old friend! Prince Synthetic Gut was developed in 1976 to accomodate the increased string tensions in oversized racquets, and along with Synthetic Gut Duraflex, has become the #1 selling string in the world. So, we will continue to offer this popular all around string.

Thanks,
Prince Tennis - Who's Next.

Was Beast XP too hyped and did the sales turn out the way you wanted them to?

Hi Kenny,

The building of the 361nation community fueled anticipation of the Beast XP launch, resulting in one of the most high profile string launches in recent history. The result was a very successful beginning, with Beast XP setting sales records at Prince. We’re now are feeding the Beast with a consumer promotion of receiving a free set of strings if you purchase 2 sets.

Thanks,
Prince Tennis - Who's Next.

^^^email correspondence from customer service is not always the best way to reach them (many people on here have not had good luck getting in touch by email). Give them a call.

I've contacted Prince nuimerous times and they encourage you to call them. They don't seem to use email for consumer issues.
