Prince T22: Side-jamming..

I am getting 'side-jamming' from Prince T22.

Instead of 'toe jamming', I am getting 'side-jamming' from Prince T22.

When I move/hop sideways and suddenly stop, the base of my pinky toe (both left/right) jams against the 'plastic claw'.
There are two of them. They are the gray plastic.

Have anybody experienced this?

I welcome any suggestion on how to fix it.

Thank you in advance.

I remember reading a prior post about the exact same thing. The short of it is, you can cut the claws. I personally don't experience that because of my narrow feet. Also, because of my foot shape, I size as low as possible and leave only a quarter inch or so of space above my toes. By doing that, the claws are placed below my pinky toes. You probably don't have that option.

You could also consider getting the T22 Lite. When I tried it out, I noticed the claws were softer. Of course I didn't buy it because it was too wide.

I think cutting the claws would be my last option.
At least I have one if all else fail.

I made some big improvements.
  1. I replaced the insole with a much thinner one, maybe 1/3 the thickness of the T22 insole.
  2. I skipped the first 3 eyelets (the bottom ones and the two claws).
My pinkys do not hurt as much anymore.
I will continue breaking them in and hopefully the claws/mesh will give in a bit more.

I was actually surprised that T22 is still cushiony even with the much thinner insole.
I initially thought that much of the cushioning was provided by the T22 insole, which is very thick.
I actually prefer the thinner insole.

Thank you for the suggestion/s.

Cutting the plastic claw

The note below is from the Feedbact section of these shoes.
This problem actually is welll known, and I should have known better.
However, I did not do my research diligently.

If all else fails, here is how Scott cut the claw.

Comments: These shoes felt great in the store but the plastic straps on the outside of the shoe are killing me (the outer bone on the side of the foot). I removed the laces from the shoe, then I took a very sharp exacto knife and cut the stitching on the outside of the plastic strap (the strap on the outside of the shoe and closest to the front of the shoe only! The other strap is not an issue) and carefully separated it from the mesh. When I got close to the sole, I placed a credit card between the mesh and the plastic strap, and cut away the strap about 1/16 of an inch above the sole. (The credit card prevents you from cutting into the mesh.) That solved the problem completely. This will not hurt the shoe or void the warranty either. Love these shoes!

Cutting the plastic claw - Part 2

I cut the plastic claw (inside/outside front claw) to fix the side pinching.
It worked!
No more side pinching.

Potential side-effect
I don't know if the the uppers (below the claw) may give because I cut the claw.
We will see.

Will I buy Prince T22 again?
Maybe.
Especially if the uppers hold.
It is still a good shoe without the side pinching.
It is actually one of the best shoes I ever used.

Prince T22 is actually shorter than normal
If I buy again, I will buy 1/2 size bigger than my usual size.
Prince T22 is a little shorter than the specified size, compared to my other shoes of the same size.
