Prince Textreme 100P - Customization Suggestions?

Just tried the 100P over the weekend and really enjoyed it. Great balance of forgiveness, control and power - made the game easier than traditional player frames but without the wildness that I usually associate with 100 square inch heads.

In particular, I found my serve % increased (on both first and second serves), easy power and directional control on my groundstrokes, easier defence and an improved ability to take the ball on the rise. On the downside, I found the feel to be a bit disconnect compared to flexier racquets, not as much zip or bite when taking a full swing compared to a heavy weight frame and a bit less stability than I'm used to. Overall, its a great allrounder with room to customize up to a heavier weight.

Looking to see how others have customized their 100P for better results. Thinking of installing a leather grip for better feel and experimenting with some lead tape (maybe at 10 and 2) for a subtle increase in sw and stability. If any other have had good experiences with customizing their 100P, would be interested in hearing more.

I play with the 100P as well (switched to it about a year ago). I replaced the grip with a TW 22mm/1.5mm leather grip (the thicker/heaver one). And I added 3g of tungsten tape at 12 to bump up the swing weight. I debated about doing 10 & 2 instead, but decided the twist weight was already high enough and didn't want to risk decreasing maneuverability too much. I've had them set up this way for about 8 months, and haven't had the urge to make a change.

Leather, silicone in the handle, and lead from 10-2 (1/4 inch lead, the whole way, under the bumperguard...gotta look professional) :)
It transforms it into a beast!! (I would start with blutack instead of silicone if you are not skilled with silicone)

I agree, leather is always a great starting place. Then if you get that feeling where you are swinging hard, but don't feel like you are getting the power you want. Then add some lead to the hoop (experiment, and find what works for you). Also, all frames have different starting specs. Before doing ANYTHING. Get your starting specs....just in case you want to put it back the way it was. Write it down, it's easy to forget 6 months later if you decide to sell it :D

adding to this - played with it for a little while (could easily come back) - Leather and some lead ten and two SUBLIME feel. Modern characteristics, super old school feel. Also played with some lead at the top of the throat.

If you want the feel you get from leather but you don't want to add as much weight to the handle, try Babolat Skin Feel. It's heavier than stock grips usually are but lighter than leather. The thickness is 1.55mm.

Hi All, yesterday played with the 100P and have some mixed thoughts, initially it felt very light and unstable.. but on the other hand, my shots got lot of speed and top spin without loosing accuracy.
My main racquet is the Prince Graphite 100, so maybe the weight difference is what makes me feel it a little unstable.. maybe changing the grip (not leather as it usually gives me some wrist pain) may give me a little weight/ handle increase.
Will keep you updated.

What string/tensions is everyone using in their TT100P? I have just moved to using these after having a long lay off. I have one with the factory strings (assuming Prince syn gut strung at some factory tension. Haven't played with it so i'm not sure). the other with Wilson NXT @ 55lbs.

Played with the Wilson NXT strung racquet last night and felt alright, when these break i'm likely to try either a full poly or a syn gut/poly hybrid ( OGSM 16g/YPTP 17g) and maybe even gut/hybrid in the summer. I just find the recommended tensions for this racquet a bit on the low side 45-55. I normally have syn gut in full bed in the high 50s.

Has anyone been stringing their TT100P higher than the recommended ( i know its only a recommendation), just like to get a census on this.

after playing in stock form a while, i might add leather and weight at 3&9 for stability and plow.

I used it for a year. I would string full 1.20 mm poly at 45 and gut/poly at 53/50. I also used Origin / poly @ 52/50

I'm finding it does need lead for me, too unstable volleying. Right now I'm at 341g total with 4g at 10/2 and the rest in the handle. With these specs the racquet has a very nice, plush ride with stability and quickness.

I took out my P100s with leather grips for a match yesterday. Around September, I had put them aside for the DR100, but was experiencing a little elbow soreness that isn't going away.

I added 4g at 10 and 2 (like racer41c above) and enjoyed the extra mass for hard hitting, volleys, serves and service returns. They're going to stay in the bag for a while.

All the way from 2 to 10 or individual tapes with the middles at 2 and 10?

I’ve experimented with adding 5 grams at 12 o clock and 5 grams of blue tack in the handle.

The extra 5 grams really helped when returning a big server but eventually I ended up taking the weights off and just playing with it in stock form.

A lot of 100P users have commented that while they normally play with a heavier racquet they found that once they started adding weight to it they found it sluggish. My experience matches this. However I may add a leather grip to one just to see how it plays.

I’ve been tried a few different strings on it and the one I like best is Kirschbaum Touch at 52lbs.

I would like to know the weight in total and balance if you had it measured after Silicone job

I agree with above, also the racquet serves amazingly stock, is already stable on off centre hits and does well dealing with big hitters. I only regret it is not 16 x 19 and a bit more forgiving.

It was an amazing stick for doubles. Serves and Volleys were just in total control. But that 18x20 string pattern was just murder on my ground strokes. Ended up selling them and switching to a 100L weighted up. Now my ground strokes are better but my volleys stink.

Still a year so ago, I played a SW forehand, lots of spin. But now back EE fh and can flatten out when need be, and feel my offense is whole lot better. All this came to fruition with a tight 16x19 98” m3.0, that was leaded to almost 13oz. Only problem was that serving gave me a bit shoulder problems. Bought a Clash Tour,... flat forehands all over place. A friend has played with a 100p for like 3 years, so I knew it is solid low stiffness frame. Saw one used locally, and it works! Had to string tighter, to allow more control as not relying on excess spin. It is rather loose for 18x20 anyway, quite close ti the 16x19 m3.0 I have.
