Prince Textreme Tour 100 (310) Thread

I currently use the older Textreme 100p
It is definitely my favourite racquet so I'm considering this or the 100p.

Other racquets I have used over the past 6 or so years.
Wilson Ksurge.
Dunlop m5.0: Great manueverability but way too stiff.
Yonex AI 100: Loved it but felt like I could have more feel and control.
Yonex AI 98: Loved the feel but my serves felt weaker.
Babolat Pure Aero Tour: I hated the feel of this stick. Felt like a was hitting with a rocket powered tin can.

I love the feel and blend of control and power I get from the older Textreme 100p but am concerned what kind of change I should expect from the 16-18 string pattern as opposed to the 18-20 that I currently use with the 100p.

My level is 4.5
left handed counterpunching style I guess.
2 handed backhand.
Probably hit more flat than topspin. Especially backhand. I also have a reliable slice backhand.

What differences should I expect if I purchase this racquet? in comparison to the older 100p? (or the new 100p) based on the basic information I have given you.
Thanks.

I just played with this frame yesterday, strung with Prince Diablo Prism at 52lbs(like the TW playtest), my usual set-up is Cyclone 17ga, HyperG in the mid 40s. I had a warm-up court before my 40+ 3.5 USTA match yesterday and had no intention to use it in my match. Towards the end of my warm-up, I tried using the TT100 to rally, hit serves and returns. I really enjoyed it at the time. Very comfortable, lots of spin, easy power, especially on serve. Easy to block back hard flat serves. I liked it so much I figured it would try to play with it during my match. Part of the reason was that it developed tennis elbow this week and figured that I could use something easier on my arm than my usual Pure Strike 16x19.

I won the racquet spin and elected to serve first(probably a mistake). I was missing too many first serves into the net, hit too long when I hit with a full stroke on my topspin FH. Needless to say, my serve was broken in the first game. I switched to a Blade 18x20 that I recently acquired and hit great groundstrokes with during the earlier warm-up. Still wasn't playing that well. Before I knew it, I was down 4-2. I went back to my Pure Strike, got my serve and groundstrokes back on track and reeled off 4 straight games, taking the set 6-4. Finished off the match by winning 6-3 in the 2nd set. I think I'll give the racquet some more time to find the best way to hit. My tennis elbow probably limited how much I was able to use my arm to generate topspin. I was also admittedly playing too tight at the beginning of the match.

In summary, the New Tour 100(310g) feels quite similar to the old 100P that I tried previously. Feels beefier than the Phantom 93P and 100P I've tried recently. Definitely more like the Prince Beast than a player's frame. It's one of those point and shoot type of racquets.

Definitely more spin because of more open pattern, i hit with 100p in the past but didnt like it that much, more power than control and not easy on my wrist so went back to dr 98,similar power on serve

Given your style of play, I think your current tt100p is perfect with 18x20. Suggest adding some weight for more plow. I added 9 gm to the throat to keep balance and it made all the difference. I string VS/RPM 53/50 gut mains. The only shortcoming now is operator error.

@jacob22, hmmm...more free power, especially on serve? That's the one thing I really find lacking in my Phantom Pro 100. Wish the Tour's beam was a little thinner, flex and swingweight a tad lower, but reviewers said it's comfy and fast swinging. Crap, looks like I'm going to have to try this one out.

The one play tester that considers switching plays with one of the most mediocre and tasteless sticks of 2018 the EZONE 98 which is way off the big success of dr98.... he is also new on the block so.... we shall see how it goes. Andy Cerst still plays and stocking dr98s and said he hasn’t found anything yet to make him switch.
I wonder where Andy is getting his DR 98's because most stock has dried up here especially the plus version.

Definitely more power on serve than I had with the PP100P and 93P.

This racquet sounds interesting. I’m waiting for the new PA tour but may have to give this one a try. I’ll be 66 next week so power is appreciated. Play with current PA tour now.

I received my demos of the Tour 100 and the 95 today. Taught an hour on court with both and they're very intersting.....

Sorry guys, I know super vague but at that point only hit with them for about 15 mins. After 3hrs of teaching (hitting in sporadically) here's what I have so far :

I have the 95 at the same spec (12.26oz strung, overgrip, damper, lead at 12) as my 2015 95 and it feels basically the same. I don't notice any more stiffness, or any difference in power as of yet.

As for the 100, it's a very interesting racquet. Strung, overgrip, dampner it's at 11.98oz. It's got easy power, access to spin, and so far feels as solid as the 95 but I want to see as I get to hit with better ball strikers tomorrow. Will update again

Thanks for info :) How's the service power of the 100 and the new 95? That to me is the downside of the old 95, due I guess to the relatively flexible head. Also been trying to find out how much lower the bridge of the 100 is if you lay the 95 on top of the 100, again due to my desire not to lose too much leverage on serve. Any info greatly appreciated.

UPDATE: Hit with a lesson a bit with both racquets medium speed, and also hit with one of our junior pros (current D3 player, 4.5-5.0 level hitter) for about 30mins. Still not a ton of time on both, but I honestly like both of them.

The Tour 95: 347.5g / 12.25oz. Overgrip, Yonex dampner, lead at 12.

It may be a hair stiffer than my 2015 version but honestly, nothing I'd worry about. I don't notice any power difference at as well personally. Stable, control oriented for sure, with solid spin (strung 45/42 with full bed sided poly). To me I could switch from my 2015 to the 2019 and have no problems.

The Tour 100: 335.7g / 11.83oz. Overgrip, Yonex dampner, no lead or other mods as of yet. Strung @ 48/45 full bed sided poly.

It feels heavier than the 95 due to the balance difference. It definitely creates a heavier ball naturally because of the balance and the string pattern. I don't feel any loss of stability at the net (which is what I care about), and with pretty easy swings get the topspin/underspin jumping through the court. It's a fun racquet to let rip.

One weird thing: my 2015 Tour 95 is a 4 1/2 grip with 1 tourna tac. These demos are 4 3/8 with same over grip. Measured all the 3, and the demos come to 4 1/2 on the dot, and my older 95 is just over 4 1/2. Maybe the sizing of the newer ones are different? Idk.

I never had a serve issue with the 95 because of the added lead at 12. With less/slower swing I can generate more power and spin with the 310. The bridge on the 310 looks to be about .5in lower than the 95 (measuring from the bottom of the bridge on the 95 to the bottom of the bridge on the 310).

Hope that helps!

My guess would be that the grip on the old one has compressed over time.

Maybe. I do change the replacement grips underneath the tourna tac, and currently have a new on my 2015 95. Maybe the mold itself compressed? Otherwise I do like the 4 3/8

So the 2019 TT95 offers no discernible improvements over the 2015 version, in your opinion?

As far as I could feel. I hit about an hour on it and sure, there's maybe it's incrementally stiffer, but I couldn't tell there was much (if any) more power.

I picked up my 2015 and there's just something better about that racquet in every way. ...

haha, your 2015 is customised / leaded to your liking, plus many string jobs later the frame has probably softened up quite a bit.

Maybe the frame has softened but everything else (strings, tension, lead) are the exact same. I could switch and notice a difference, but not a massive difference that would get me to buy the 2019 version. Maybe that's a good thing haha

I've been hitting around with the Tour 100 (310) for the past couple days and here are some of my thoughts.

At first glance the racquet looks a lot like the Tour 95, from the beam thickness and the shape of the head. When I received it, for a moment I thought I was sent the wrong racquet.

In terms of playability, the racquet also has a lot of similarities to the Tour 95 (2015). They both have great feel, and the way the ball comes off the strings on groundstokes seems about the same.
The Tour 100 is a bit more powerful than the Tour 95, but honestly not nearly as much as I would have thought, given the increase in stiffness, swing weight, head size, and the more open string pattern. The Prince power level numbers seem about accurate in this case.

With both racquets I struggled to get good pace on my shots, and especially had a hard time getting good serves.

Overall I think playtester Sean summed it up best in saying the racquet has no real strengths but no glaring weaknesses either. For me it didn't have the easy power I get with my Warrior 100, nor did it have the comfort, maneuverability, or as precise of a feel as the Tour 95 2015.
Though I could see how someone could really like this racquet, ultimately it's just not something for me.

Edit: What I wrote before was pretty negative, and I should point out that I actually feel similarly about the Pure Strike 16x19, which almost everyone loves.
In comparing those two racquets directly, I would say the Prince has a little more control, better feel and much more comfort while the Pure Strike has more pop, spin, and I didn't struggle with it on serve nearly as much.

I'm kind of surprised there isn't more action on this thread. I really thought a Prince Textreme 100P with a 16x18 string pattern would be a great racket.
It probably is a great racket like many other prince rackets but most of the people prefer other brands with better marketing, still own two old tour 100 16/18 with ports, very fun to play with

Prince outdone themselves with first gen textreme tours and Phantoms. I for one am very happy with my phantom 100p. This 310 version is most likely to fill a void for those looking for more open pattern.

Ya, me too. I'm working on getting a demo, but it might take a couple of more weeks. I've been using the P100P for a couple of months. Although I really like it, I'm interested to see if the T310 will give me a little more easy power without compromising the benefits of the P100P.

Yeah, I've been using Prince frames for a while, going back to the EXO3 Tour 100 and currently the Phantom Pro 100. The thing I'm hoping for most is easier power on serve, without getting too far from what I like about those rackets.

Just ordered a TT 100 P 2015. But this was a second choice; liked the Phantom P 100P better---but the TT is more power, which I feel frankly I need.

On happy hour special today for $169 (or $159 if you buy more), along with the other new Textreme Twaron Tours. Kinda surprised as these have just been released!

Picked up a used TT100 (310) from Tennis Warehouse, which arrived today. Added a leather grip and some lead tape on the hoop sides. Weights in at 12.2 oz. now and will report back on how it compares to my TT95's which are setup the same way.
Any impressions after playing with it!

I'm really interested in the new Tour 100 (310). However, they aren't available in Europe just yet. Hopefully soon...

I’m waiting on the written reviews in the new pure aero tour and this tour 100 310.. no way this prince is as powerful buts it’s interesting.

LMFAO - and CryingMFAO as well - at the Melbourne branch of TennisOnly (TW Australian subsidiary); despite the Perth and Melbourne stores apparently sharing the same website, upon visiting the Melbourne store, I was told - despite it being February, with the Prince racquets having been up on the website for quite some time - '...um, we don't have the new Princes in yet...um, maybe next week?' -'...um, that's the Perth store, I think they have a warehouse over there...' 'Sorry, I can't take your name down, and call you when they're [finally] in...that's kinda difficult for us unfortunately.' HAVE YOU HEARD OF A CUSTOMER BOOK?? THIS IS THE 21ST CENTURY AND YOU ARE DIRECTLY CONNECTED TO THE WHOLESALERS AND ARE THE ONLY STORES IN AUSTRALIA STILL ATTEMPTING TO RESCUE PRINCE LOLOLOL!!! 'Sorry, I know what's on the website, but we have no 4 1/2 Wilson PS97s in stock in either all black (non at all actually) or black/white; we can order one for you, but we can't guarantee what specs you'll get - not that we can check them anyway.' Good luck with your store folks, I might go back there for the closing down sale. ;) Two of their direct competitors, BTW, are more than happy to check weight, balance and - in one case - even swing weight, of the Wilson frames in stock.

Yea I once asked if they could check specs. The only thing they can check is static weight. They don't have the machine for the rest.

You can check balance with a pencil and a ruler if you can be bothered. Sorry re rant but I've been in there before and had issues. For example, I was told a certain demo would be available in two days, but when I went back in it still hadn't been strung; when I called in a few days later again as requested they then told me it was out with a coach; when I called in several days later - again as requested - they said they'd sold it. They have marginal knowledge of what Textreme and Twaron are actually supposed to do in Prince racquets etc. etc. I wouldn't bother with them except sadly they're the only Prince retailers in Melbourne.

Yea, 87, that’s pretty high. As much as I want to try the 93p, I know I’ll love it but won’t be able to win two matches a day with it. Even the 14 x 18 might be asking too much.

However, this one.... :)

I loved the tour 100 16 x 18 (except for no free serve points) and the warrior 100 (but for the very scary shoulder pain), so maybe this will fill that void.

Given
1) that I have demo'd, bought, tried and wasted $ (and thoroughly enjoyed) buying so many racquets,
2) the high score and review praise for these (as much as reviews can be tough to dissect)
3) the spec wheelhouse (w/r/t all the sticks I've tried and played with...)

That I will probably just buy 2 without a demo :)
