Prince Textreme Tour 100 (310) Thread

I played with a Prince Racquet years ago, it may have been the Tour 100 which had the ports and I did not like the feel. Plus the beam is a little wide for my taste.
I like the 310 a lot better than the 7g. Both have about the same beam thickness. 310 is better at everything, imho.

The 310 is a sweet feeling frame. Not jarring at all.
Yes. I am too very paranoid about elbow/arm comfort and had my share of issue in the past. 310 has no jarring anywhere. I am actually able to play with a full bed of comfortable poly in it. I would not worry about the RA number. Plays like a low 60s frame. I owned and played with pp 100p.. one of the reasons I stopped is bc something about its box frame is too jarring.. and vibrates a lot. Once framed an overhead and my elbow felt like it imploded.. 310 no issues at all ..I would say it's much more comfortable than pp 100p.. yes even tho the RAs say otherwise.. must be this twaron or something.. or some sort of black vodoo magic...

If an off-center hit jars your arm that much to worry you, do you have TE?
I hit off-center on my POG 93, and it's jarring, but it doesn't bother me.
It's just an off-center hit.

I remember when I played with prestige classic that frame had Twaron and did not vibrate. It was also quite arm friendly. I liked the playability of the PP 100P but like you said there was a lot of vibration on off center. If 310 is much more comfortable, it would be a racquet that I would strongly consider. I am quite sure it has better overall playability than the PK 7G. I also agree that the RA does always reflect how the racquet plays. The weight and balance is what I am looking for. I might give it a try. Thanks for the feedback from all!

Hi folks,

I read some people saying that the O3 version had more control than the 100p 18x20? Is it true ? Shouldn't be the opposite ?

Thank you for your help

For me is the Prince Tour (310,(290 with Silicone/ Blue Tak)) more comfortable as the Prince Phantom Pro 100. Maybe it is the combination of twaron and the "thicker" beam. With the Tour you can let more "the racquet do the work!" I can use the Tour with FB Polly. too ...this was not possible with the Phantoms fore me

does anyone know if prince plans to release this in a 16x19 pattern? (not o-ported) I feel the 16x18 is too open and powerful, and people have complained about the very low launch angle of the 18x20 TT100P

So the 290 versions are exactly the same as the 310, just with less weight in the handle? I live in Europe and I can't order the L5 gripsize and there are import restrictions with TW. So my plan was to order the 290 and weight it up to 310 with a shrinksleeve.

How does this frame do as far as eating strings? I have experience with the tr100p 2015 and that pattern was great. I eventually stayed with my tour 100s. I like the idea of a slightly more open pattern and a bit more pop but my pcg 100s ate strings. I use full bed multi head velocity. I may demo but can’t tell anything about string eating from that.

Also, what advantages does this frame have over the new tt100p? Does pattern make that much difference. Thanks

it feels the same as 16x19.. the crosses sit way off the top and bottom of the hoop. . so its a wash. dont over think it. this stick is incredible.

The Prince Beast 98 standard grommet has the same feel as the Tour, at least I felt this after demoing the tour and now owning the Beast. I know the beam is a little thick on the Beast, but at 64RA and with that similar feel as the Tour (presumably same materials) I'm enjoying it. I was using the o3 version of the beast but I've switched.

which version? (TT100 or TT100P) Many people here have said the TT100 is a string eater, which I'm not surprised about given the super open pattern

The 310. It’s not a string eater. No more than any babolat pute aero or pure drive. Same thing. There is always going to be a negative about a racket or somebody saying that they don’t like something about it you’re never ever and I do mean ever going to get everybody saying that everything is perfect it ain’t gonna happen. So believe me when I tell you that this string is as close to a Goldilocks is you’re ever going to get and just buy one

By any chance did you ever play Angell TC95 or TC100 and if so how do the TT310 compare. I play the two Angells and also TT100P (2015) and TT95 (2015). The TT310 sounds very interesting. Cheers, Toby

Did some light hitting with my TT310 today (58 lbs full bed ZX Monogut)
It is more powerful than the POG 93.
Some balls were flying but it seems like a good racket.
I think I can swing less hard with this racket.
Plenty of spin and power.

I felt the 18x20 went right into the net.
The 16x18 does not do that.
But, there are many variables at play.
With my racket, I was not using garbage multiF at some unknown tension.
I mean it makes little sense that it would make such a big difference.
So, I may have just been having a bad day.
But I could swear all the 18x20s from that day were going into the net

i did not play with the angells. but i have played the 100P and TT95
the 310 is a baseliners dream. i like to rip the cover off the ball. you cant do that with with other sticks. they are both great sticks. but i love hitting heavy spin with a high launch angle over the net. .you wont get that with the ohter two stick.s.

I understand. My forehands are pretty low skimmers compared to my 16 x 19. I don't know if this is usual for 18 x 20 or not. . . side by side, the patterns are about equally open.

Thats what I dont like about the 100p: the extra edge strings reduce string movement (and spin) but don't add anymore control.

To me playtester Sean from TW summed it up the best. I quote from the review "Although there were no standout 'wow' features during this playtest, the beauty of the Tour 310 lies in its tasteful balance of qualities. Easy power, spin and control were all there, but not in excessive amounts" Now this has been my exact experience. I bought this stick as soon as it came out. I played with it. I thought it was good but I kept demoing/trying other sticks.. However, every time i picked this one back up I appreciated more and more how good it was. So, I would not expect this stick to overwhelm anyone but as you play with it you appreciate how complete this stick is. Like @danbrenner said also... there is no complete/fantastic/holy grail/the one stick. This is just a very solid one. Does everything very well. Does not have any weaknesses. Does not have a particularly one strong aspect either. The strength is "tasteful balance of qualities" as Sean put it.

@gvsbdisco - I personally also like to train with control oriented, lower power smaller headsize racquets as well (ie 93p, vcp97). Sometimes i do that a while and when I pick Tour 310 back up I really feel like I can play much better.. Tennis feels little easier.

@max - Yes launch angle will be decisively higher than 100p

Looks like I'll be customizing a 260 heavily. I just picked up one on the auction site for $33.98. Maybe it'll be a good candidate for 27.5 with the lower swingweight.

I'm exactly at the opposite... :giggle:
Off topic, but it's amazing to think that if Djoker ultimately ends up with one more major than Fed, GOAT status - at least in terms of the all important total majors category - was decided by one point. (Apart from the fact that Laver wasn't able to play majors from '63 to '68 and won the Grand Slam in '62 and '69; ceteris paribus the mind boggles, with a probable high twenties total.)

Just found a decent offer on an O3, so for those interested I should hopefully be able to give a direct comparison with the solid beam version in the next week or two!

I do not think so. The O3 Tour (290) has more free power compared to the solid beam version.
I don't always agree with the Prince power rating guide. Definitely feel the solid beam beast is more powerful than the o3 version even though o3 is a 1050 vs 1000.

Never hit the tour o3 though.

the guy was talking about the "edge" (cross) strings, not the mains. You meant to say he should string it as 18x19 if anything
For the tours, since they have a more oval shape, I like the 20 crosses but would prefer 16 (tight) mains. The beasts have a more horseshoe shape, so I would like an 18x19 on them.

Maybe I should just start my own line of racquets? [emoji3]

Sure. But removing the outer two mains is not going to fix your issue of having reduced string movement and spin (unless you somehow simultaneously increase main spacing). If you want to increase spin by skipping strings, the only way to do that is by skipping some crosses.

But yea, if only we could all design our own racquets lol

Has anyone hit with the blade 98 CV 16 x 19 and 310 tour? If so, which offers more power, control, feel, spin and comfort? Thanks for the feedback.

Couple of my regular playing partners have the CV blade, I'll try and have a hit with one and see

310 is way better for power and spin. the blade is more head heavy flat hitter type stick. because the310 is such a spin demon, i get more control out of it as well. i own the 16 m blade. its collecting dust at this point.
and ill sell it at any time .. its useless to me going forward.

i feel the same way about the off center hits on the pp. mine was strung with full bed of rpm and it did sting a little.
i play my 310 stock.

I am considering buying a 310 and will leave it stock if I decide to do so. My friend gave me a blade 98 cv 16 x 19. I hit with it once and thought it was ok but nothing special.
