Prince Textreme Tour 100 (310) Thread

Having now played with TT100 modified to 337 gr and 325 SW, strung at 53lbs with 16g multi. Generally agree with the comments here; good in many things, especially compared to TT100P, and if I had choose a main strength, would say serves and top-spin forehands. My groundstrokes were noticeable more spinny and deeper into court. I would prefer it over TT100p if I wanted more spin and despite more open pattern, it had more control than TT100p and also more comfortable and plush. Actually looking at the string pattern, it is more open TT100p, and not quite similar actually.

However, I am a quite flat player with OHBH, so my flat shots and slices were not very effective, and groundstrokes would fly if I didn't put spin. Backhand slices were not as effective as a more closed 18x20 pattern.

I would be curious to know how other flat / OHBH players feel about this and what strings/customization they have used...
thank you

Did you add lead tape at 12? Mine has a leather grip + OG and is already sitting at 338g, but SW measured on an RDC machine is only 315

Yes, I have lead 1g lead at 3,9 and 12 with 2 OGs and dampener. leather grip , og would not really change SW and 315 should be strung SW without any lead.

My SW is more of a calculation and with this it felt somewhere between 325-330, so I removed the 12 to try. I think some lead at 10&2 or 11&1 would be better than 3&9, if needed. for a spinny game may not be even necessary if stability is also ok (dependa who you play with and how hard too).

If the TT100p was an 8 in the mains 16x20 it would play much better! As it is now it's boardy outside the SS and not very spin friendly.

For the 310, maybe do a poly syn gut hybrid to lower the launch angle?

I agree about the TT100p, also have made it more control oriented...

Thx for the string tip, I try to avoid polys but may give it a try.. also stringing crosses higher than mains supposedly reduces launch angle.. I will keep this for clay season anyways.

I have other very good rackets that are comfy, more control and precise as well as ok in power, but I really like prince brand (my childhood frames) however havent yet found "this is the one" yet.

Feel like some of the stiffer Prince ports might be right up your alley. (Speedport black or beast o3 98)

I strung the TT310 with black Velocity 17g at 55/54 lbs. Feel, power, and spin are all great. I played two sets of doubles and one of singles this morning and the racquet performed beautifully. I can't miss an overhead with this thing. I've also noticed that I can return defensive shots deep and with pace (e.g., when I'm pulled wide off the court), something I could never do with the PP100P.

I know some people have asked about comfort. While not as plush as the Phantoms, I'm experiencing no issues, including with my sensitive elbow. I did seem to tweak something in my back, maybe the teres major or latissimus dorsi, but I don't think the racquet played a part in that.

Interesting observation, Max. I've been playing with the Phantom Pro 100P for a while now and worried that the thicker beam and higher power would throw my game off. I'm not finding that to be the case, at least not yet. I'm able to control the ball well and I'm not sending any shots into the fence. The only time I do that is when I muscle the ball, and that's going to happen regardless of the racquet I'm using.

I played again with the TT310 tonight. The easy power and spin on serves was greatly appreciated. I also hit some devastating drop shots and volleys, although there isn't as much feel as I would like.

I'm curious: what level player are you, and what kind of player?

fwiw, I'm about 4.5 and really all-court; have good serve and OHBH, and touch matters to me.

I'm a 3.5 who also likes to play all-court. I tend to come to the net pretty often. Touch matters to me too, and you're definitely going to have better touch on the Phantoms. But, my volleys and drop shots are quite nice with the TT310, and the benefits on other shots (overheads, serve, forehand) are significant enough to outweigh the decrease in touch.

I've also noticed that I can really knife the backhand slice with the TT310. For some reason, I never could dial that in with the PP100P. That was a problem because I've transitioned to slicing 75% of my backhands.

I strung up Velocity 16 gauge at 52lbs in my TT310. I did not like it personally. It was my first time to try the string. I felt there was a real lack of spin, and the ball would launch if I tried to really go for a shot. I didn’t expect it to play like a poly, but I liked it so little that I cut it out after one hitting session.

In contrast, I really liked the Tier One Firewire Boost hybrid that I put in it next (48/46, also 16 gauge). Great spin and excellent control. I felt like I could swing out again and keep the ball in the court. I know it’s an unfair comparison, but I know I won’t be trying any more full-bed multi string jobs in the future.

I’ve used a gut/poly hybrid in my Yonex Ai98’s for years now, so I’ll definitely give that combo a try in the TT310 next. Deciding on the tension might be tricky since this stick has quite a bit more power than the Ai98’s.

For reference, I’m a 4.5 baseline with a spinny forehand and somewhat flat two-handed backhand.

interesting. I'm likining the Phantom 93 for my OHBH; a 100 squinch is too hard to do well with. . . or at least I haven't spent enough time working with this size.

RacquetTune is a pretty inaccurate app, it doesn't work on android. It only works on iPhone.
TennisTension is a much more accurate application compared to RacquetTune for measirung string tension. I just put a new set of strings on the racket, tension at 25kg. TennisTension is showing 24.5kg, RacquetTune is showing 18kg. I've tried a few rackets so far.

I'm not sure if the RacquetTune is relevant to the other options it offers.

SW measurement without an RDC or Head machine is crap. My TT310 came to 326 with the SW tool app and 332 with a stopwatch. When I eventually found an RDC and measured it properly, I got 315, which is right where it should be.

Really solid, soft/comfortable and control oriented racquets came onto market over the last month or so. Blade 18x20, head gravity pro or tour (though blade is superior in control), tf40 and yonex HD.. these are all racquets that are control oriented..you have to generate your own power... i have tried blade and gravity.. blade is a different level in control dept.. gravity will have more power.. and bigger sweetspot (though blade had a very generous one also)... blade launch angle will be noticeably lower... i cant speak to feel as its very subjective... blade has this shotgun sound when you hit the sweetspot thats second to none.. just the sound makes your opponent think you hit a super heavy ball i think hehehe

I am really bummed/frustrated to report the following.

Over the past week, I've noticed some very mild twinges in my shoulder and wrist after using the TT310. I chalked this up to getting used to the new racquet and didn't think much else of it. After all, I felt good after playing and didn't experience any pain.

On Sunday, I hit with someone for an hour and played two sets of doubles and a set of singles. Tonight, I played some doubles with lower-level players at the town park. I wasn't trying to kill the ball and was hitting smooth strokes. And now...my elbow is on fire. It's the outside of my elbow, too, which I have NEVER had a problem with. I occasionally get very mild soreness on the median elbow which goes away after a couple of days, but never pain in the dreaded "TE zone."

I'm absolutely terrified of tennis elbow, which means I am going to stop using this racquet immediately. I may get a Phantom Pro 100 16x18 because, at this point, I don't trust anything with an RA over 60.

Sigh. This really sucks.

I had a similar slight feeling outside my elbow, first time I felt anything like this, although it felt comfortable while hitting. I also had some wrist pain using the TT100p do I am guessing my arm doesnt like the the textreme material.

No issues with a graphite kevlar (which is another aramid like twaron) stick with silicon in the handle. Furthermore I found it pretty open pattern for my taste (unlike some reviews mentioned), so for now I am back to my PP100 18x20 if I want to use this size. I may try the o-ported Beasts as an option.

Anyways, I mainly prefer slightly smaller headsizes in general but really wanted to have Prince in my bag... maybe some dampening in the handle (bluetak, silicone) may help.

Angell rackets are the most comfortable I have used so far, also with decent power, stability and control and I have tried many... there are many comfy rackets in the market lately too, I find Phantoms a little too underpowered and erratic for my singles game with their super thin beams (93p maybe an exception), but great for doubles I think.

I got myself a pair of TT100 310 very recently, and have hit for about 3 hours with them. The TT310s are ~330 gms, 7 pts HL with overgrip and dampener. I measured SW with the TW Tool - roughly 330+ SW (I have no idea if I got it right).

A bit of background before I talk about my impressions. My current racquets are a pair of Head Graphene Instinct MPs, weighted to about 335 gms, 330 SW, 6 pts HL. I have pretty solid groundstrokes, flatter backhand than my forehand. Decent at the net most times, and I have a very spin-based serve - not too much pace, but I can move it around really well. I am not sure what my level of play would be rated at here, but I played Nationals in my country when I was younger (if that helps).

I string my Instincts with YTex Quadro Twist at 55-57lbs. The TT310s are strung with the same string at 53 lbs for now.

First impressions -
1. I feel like I can hit much smaller targets with the TT310. Aggressive tennis feels a lot easier to me, as a result of the this.
2. Not as much free power as my Instincts. I can feel the difference mostly only when defending deep or at full stretch.
3. I am serving marginally poorer (I think) with the TT310s. The kick serves aren't kicking as much, but I feel I can work that out over time. Pace seems slightly lower at times, mostly the same (hitting partner's perception)
4. My backhand is completely off at times, I can't figure out why. I am hoping time, drills and tinkering will solve this.
5. Volleys - nice and easy to absorb pace and put balls away as long as I am attacking. I've been struggling with defensive volleys so far. Again, time and drills!
6. Backhand slices have been nice and deep and sharp, mostly. I generally slice well, but I am not completely confident with this shot yet.
6. TT310 isn't as quick through the air as my Instincts, at almost similar specs. The TT310 became a real handful when I got tired.

I've now added a gram of lead tape under the trapdoor - let's see if this makes the racquet a little whippier. (Any suggestions in this regard are very welcome.)

Overall, I am generally very happy with the TT310 so far. Its slightly more difficult to play with than my weighted Instincts - to me, that just means I was getting lazier and I should start working on my conditioning more.

Update : I have clocked a few more hours with the TT310s.

Early impressions -
1. Its getting even easier to play aggressively. TT310 has brilliant ball placement, and as before, I'm aiming for much smaller targets.
2. Ground strokes getting better - much more consistent depth and weight of shot. still isn't at the levels with my earlier racquet, especially the down-the-line drive.
3. I am rather enjoying the lesser free power - I am having to work harder on defence, but I'm not hitting long nearly as much either.
4. Volleys - still more of the same. I feel like the older Zverev brother when I'm attacking the net, and like the younger one when defending!
5. Serves - something's flipped a switch in my serve game; I am suddenly serving bombs. Not as much kick off my serves as I'd like, but so much more pace. I can work with this :)
6. The extra weight in the buttcap has helped with the whippiness. I am also getting used to the (perceived) beefier feel. Not as much of a handful when I'm tired.
7. I'm having to really punch through on blocked returns to get the ball deep. With my weighted Instincts, it was pretty much a point-and-shoot short block. I thing this down the the TT310s lower free power. Thoughts?

I'm starting to really like the TT310. Its got good power and spin, excellent directional control and I can get a pretty good feel for the ball. I'll string it lower next time - I seem to be enjoying it better once the tension's dropped.

SW measurement without an RDC or Head machine is crap. My TT310 came to 326 with the SW tool app and 332 with a stopwatch. When I eventually found an RDC and measured it properly, I got 315, which is right where it should be.

I agree, its crap without a proper machine. I got 332 with a stopwatch too, even though my pair was pretty much on spec otherwise.

A little more feedback on the TT290.

After having played my best games ever, I entered another tournament. I don't play well at all, I am very tired this week, maybe sick. But I'm in final ^^ And this leads to the real gain I have with this frame : maybe it does not make me play better, but it allows me to have chances when I'm not at my best at all. The frame is not a burden, where my Ultra 100CV felt too heavy. Even if I'm exhausted, I know I can hit the ball correctly, implying a way bigger confidence on the court.

In the 1/4 final, I'm led 2/5 by a way better player than me, but I won the 7/5 the first set.

In the semi final, I'm led 2/6 3/4, and I win the game anyway.

I can survive to bad conditions, exhaustion, which wasn't the case before. I think that my best game is not better, but my worst game is. Everything is easier.

I don't know if I'll win the final today, but I would be there if it were not for the TT290.

Got myself Tour TT100 (290g) Non O3 after failing to adjust to Head Gravity Tour (GT).
I am used to flexy racquets coming from a Blade 104 & Phantom Pro 100XR.
Loved the feel & flex of the GT but couldn't dial in my forehand for the life of me due to the erratic string bed.
Backhand & serves were good but I play with more variety on more forehand & the Head just liked hitting the ball 1 way or it will sail.

Cue the TT100 (290g). I wanted a 310g version but they don't sell them here.
So I weight it up to 310 specs with a leather grip + 2 OGs + damper + 1g each @10 & 2 under the bumper.
Gelled pretty much immediately with the stick & after a month of testing I got myself another one.

My pair TT100 (290g) came in at 285g & 288g unstrung.
I was able to match them to about half a gram of each other with final specs close to TT100 310 specs:
Total weight - 328g
BP - 32.2cm 6pts HL. Please note I have 2 grams at the head.

Compared to the GT, the stick isn't flexy but the response is cushy & I dont have any arm issues.
I would describe the stick as "User Friendly". Just needed a few adjustments to my string setup to dial in my serve & forehand.
Settled with 25kg main & 24kg cross with a poly hybrid. I think I can stay with this stick for sometime.
I wish it could be little more flexy say 61/62 ra but no issue playing with it as is.

My pair of TT290 will strung next week with :

Both at 19kg. I'm eager to test that!

I've been away a while, but I just ordered one of these. I am currently playing a Beast 98, which replaced a TW100. I demoed the TT100 yesterday, and really enjoyed being able to hit out and getting that little bit extra shape on the ball ... I love these incremental improvements in the Textreme offerings. And the Halloween sale that just started put me over the edge

All the phantoms are very flexible, low powered, and often not very stable. The TT310 has more power, spin and stability IMO. Much easier to use and very soft for a 65RA because of the Twaron perhaps?

Any comparison to Pure Areo? I have used that racket for the last several years. I want to switch cause I want more control and I also been experiencing some issues with my left wrist. In the meanwhile I have been playing with the clash 100 tour and experience no pain at all. However the control is even less than the areo.

I'm willing to sacrifice easy free power(not much since I'm not so strong myself) for something that offers more control and is a lot more arm friendly than the pure areo.

Would this stick be a good fit. I can't demo this in my region BTW.

Have you tried new pure aero ? I have both, TT310 and new PA. It is much easier to play with PA. TT310 has better feel, but I feel an elbow after playing for a long time. Serving is much better/easier with PA. If you have a chance try a Gravity Pro/Tour.

Plays nothing like a Pure Aero, and from your description it’s not what you need. It plays more like a control oriented frame, much less power and spin. I myself am looking for an option to the Pure Aero with a flexier/more buttery feel but I don’t think that really exists. The ball the PA hits is quite unique.

Also, be sure to try the 2019 Pure Aero. It’s really not that bad. Didn’t think the TT310 offered more comfort than it for instance..

I played with the new areo, but didn't find much difference and still get a soar wrist after playing more than an hour or so. I don't mind compensating power for something that is as arm friendly (for me) as the clash 100 tour but with more control.

Redemoed the 310 last night and possibly each time I use it I tell myself this is the best serving ive ever had with a racquet. My second serves are almost as big as first with good spin. Anyone adding weight here to slightly stabilize on groundstrokes a little? Just a tad whippy for me.

Mine have a couple of grams at 10/2. Can't say I ever had a problem with stability in stock form, but the extra lead just gives a little more plow for me.

I did 2 grams of LT at 12 and then 4 grams of putty in the handle. The stock twist weight is already very solid.

Just buy a couple of the non-countervail Pro Staff's that are on sale right now.

I honestly feel no difference in comfort between the TT310 and Pro Staff. The Pro Staff has more stability, plow, and a more predictable string bed. I had a hard time flattening out my shots with the TT310. If the center mains were just a tad tighter I would stick with it.

I progressed from the PO7 Strike to the Phantom Pro 100P because elbow issues, then I started developing shoulder issues from over compensating for the lack of power. Then I played with the TT310 for about six months. I bought a non Countervail PS97 a month ago because they are in my spec range, sweet looking in all black, and a good price. I think I found my goldilocks (for now!).

Just a terminalogy but this stick is plenty stable playing against heavy hitters.. its twistweight is really high. If you want less whippy then you probably want to make it higher swingweight.. maybe 11 and 1 o'clock and some in the handle if you want to keep the balance.. eric from TW weighted his up for higher sw and he said he loves it.. i asked him in questions section and he explained his customization..

I was looking at that one too. I would probably like it a lot, but the Beast 98 for $89 was too compelling. I added some lead to it, and now I see no reason to pay more for another racquet.

I demo'ed both the 290 and 310 a couple of weeks ago. My problem with demo's is that I have big hands (I can palm a basketball) and standard 4 3/8 or even 4 1/2 grips are too small for me so I usually buy a 4 5/8 and build it up to 4 3/4 to 4 7/8. Also I've become very used to playing with Luxilon 17 Nat Gut, so when I get demo's with smallish grips and stock synth gut or poly on them, it makes evaluation difficult. When I got the 290 and 310 with 4 1/2 grips I put double overgrips on which helped but that rounds out the bevels too much. Also they had some black co-poly that was totally dead on the 310 but the 290 was ok tension. I liked the 290 better because of the tension. I've been playing the TT 100P (2015) for the past few years, but have always wished for a 16x19 or 16x18 version. My TT 100P is getting pretty beat up and I read about the improvement in the 2019. Unfortunately the 290 comes in a 4 1/2 grip max and it gets too hard to build up a 4 1/2 to where I like it without throwing off the weighting and balance, so I ordered the 310 and the TT 100P (2019) in a 4 5/8 and am going to string these up with Lux Gut and see how it goes. Luckily I got the racquets on the 25% off sale.

Have you played ported Princes before? The O3 version is better than the solid beam, but he feel is quite different, seems to split opinion somewhat.

I have played with Prince Exo3 Tour Team 100. The most comfortable racquet I have played with. Pure butter.

Why do you think it is better?

Also what about new Blade 104?

Tighter string pattern in the centre (8 Vs 6 mains in the throat) and more comfortable.

I disagree. I found the O3 version very unstable versus the regular beam. The regular beam version has plenty of comfort aswell. Found it to be the better stick in general

Yeah it's a great stick. I sadly couldnt gel with it from the one handed bh side. Ended up buying the vcore 98.

Stability of my O3 is no different from my solid TT310 (and as a rule, the O3 versions of Prince racquets are usually around the same twistweight as their solid beam counterparts).

End of the day they're both really good frames, I just preferred the more predictable response of the O3 due to the 8 mains but could switch between the two with no issues (although I don't use mine much any more).
