Prince Textreme Tour 100P vs Wilson Blade (18x20)

Hey guy's.

I have been playing with a Wilson Blade (18x20), with Luxilon Alu Power string (@22kg) for the past 6 months. I like this racquet a lot. It provides ample power, and an unbelievable feel ( I know exactly where the ball will go as soon as it leaves the racquet.

I recently bought a Prince Textreme Tour 100P, thinking that it is a similar racquet to the Blade. It is strung with Weiss Cannon Red ghost (@21kg). I went for a hit with it yestaerday, and I must say, I am not too impressed. There is no "feel" with this racquet. It was like hitting with a cricket bat.

Are there any recommendations by you guy's as to how I should string the Prince, so that it will have a similar feel to my Wilson Blade setup ?

Thanking you guy's in advance.

Only way to tell is to string it up exactly the same... Luxilon Alu Power string (@22kg).

There may not be a setup that will deliver the same, more connected feel that the blade gives you. I feel like the feedback from the 100P doesn't really inform me how well I've hit in the sweetspot, but definitely tells me when I'm out of the sweetspot. Wilson racquets feel like the opposite to me...rewarding feeling inside the sweetspot, but not as much feedback outside.

I've found the 100P odd because the way it feels I don't feel like I'm playing better with it, but everybody I play against says I play really well with it. Mine is customized to 12.5oz and strung with prince TourXR at 50lbs (about 22.5kg).

That's an interesting take on the TT100P, when I had a brief hit with the TT95, I did feel somewhat disconnected to my shots but couldn't quite put my finger on it.

If that's the issue with the stick then, I think the stick needs some stiff n thinner strings like Hyper-G 17 at >50 lbs

I use vs mains and volkl cyclone tour 18. Tons of feel to me on the 100P. I do like the 98 18x20 blade as well.

I went for a proper hit. Played a full match. I was impressed. More power than the blade IMHO. It is easy on the arm and wrist. It is more mute than the blade, but still enough feel to place shots where you want.

Will keep on playing with it for sure.

@RedBeard Tour XR is a very vague feeling string. If you want more feedback, you might want to try a different string (I think it is a great string, and plays great alone or in a hybrid)

Have you tried TourXC in a 100P? Wondered about trying that or HyperG next and dropping the tension to try for more feel.

I find the Tour 100P plays better with a much thinner gauge string, especially when going the full poly route. Given it's dense string pattern, breaking strings isn't that much of an issue either. Try the Luxilon ALU Power feel if you are a fan of big banger style strings, if looking for a softer poly try the Cyclone 19.

I have used TourXC 17 in mine at three or four tensions, and Cyclone 19. I previously used TourXC as my go-to string, mainly because the reels were so cheap from TW for a while. While I liked the string in my other racquets (including Graphite Longbody, Graphite OS, Textreme Warrior 107, Pure Aero) I found I didn't care for it in the 100P. I can't put my finger on what I didn't care for, but it seems like when I had it in one racquet I would always gravitate towards one with something else in it. I put Cyclone 19 in and have been liking it more. One thing to note is that Cyclone 19 is about 2g lighter and will come through faster. You may want to add some lead. I still enjoy the one with Vs Team mains and Tour XC crosses more.

I have tried Kirschbaum Premium synthetic gut 17, and Kirschbaum Black Shark 17. I also love my hybrid of Tour XR 17 and Prince Premier Touch 17. It is still a bit vague, but I like it!! It settles in nicely, and plays great for a while

I am afraid none of the suggestions above are helping the OP. The man likes the Blade 18x20, which he finds fantastic. He is asking: what can be done to a Prince racket to make it play/feel exactly like the Blade. Imagine someone tells you he/she likes great red Burgundy wine, particularly Domaine Leroy. They just bought a white zinfandel at their local store. Now he/she's asking what can be done to make the zinfandel taste like a Domaine Leroy. Obiously changing the cork or the label would not suffice.

If you want a copy of a Blade, buy a Blade. If you want to try something different, try the Prince or any other stick.

Reopening this old threat, I have being playing with the 100p ( 2015) for a couple of years now, I really like the racquet, except for the small sweetspot. One of them recently cracked in the bridge and I am biased in buying another 100p now that they are on sale, or trying the Blade CV 18X20. My concern is what is the Blade spin potential, I tend to hit a very flat 2HBH, but spin forehand, not sure if changeing to Blade will make me loose the spin, also another concern is maneuverability, as I have read the Blade is not very good on this department. Another racquet I am considering if the Tecnifibre XTC 305, which I read good reviews about it, has anyone played tried the 3 racquets? What would you recommend and what differences did you find? Thanks for your answers
