Prince Textreme Warrior 100 = "Best All-Around Frame"

The "P" is a thin plastic veneer glued onto the trap door. Use a narrow flathead screwdriver or similar and get below the entire cover and pop it off. It is ~1/10" - 1/8" thick

I used the wrong small screwdriver the first time and used an even smaller one and got it opened.

342 grams now - the frame felt nice but way too light for my taste. It feels much more stable and solid at 12.2 oz to me.

Hey Warriors,
Any more updates on this racquet? Preferred strings? Playability? How's your long-term demo going, Jack? I tried out the Prince Hybrid Touch strings on this and really didn't like it; too powerful (even in the high 50's) and not enough control for me; and the poly at 18 gauge is just too thin for me. May go back to my tried and true gut/poly that I've liked on other racquets. Would still like to try that Prince Response string if I can find it; anyone else tried this one out yet? Otherwise, still liking the racquet!

Hey Skeet...yes I picked up a Warrior of my own and still enjoying it. I did try that Warrior response string in a demo and it seemed to fit the racquet very well. I just had one strung up today with Volk Psycho hybrid. I'll let you know how that one goes.

How exactly did you add your weight? The TWarrior can be a little too flimsy at stock weight and could benefit from a little beefing up IMO.

Volk Leather grip
Wilson Pro Overgrip
9 grams of TW Tungsten Tape
One large cotton ball then
4.6875 grams of BluTac in the buttcap.

I cut the three TT pieces in equal halves and put a two equal pieces at 3,9 & 6. I used 1/16 of of 16 "pieces" of the 75 gram BluTac - (BluTac comes in 4 equal strips. Mark each strip in half then in half again. 75 / 16 is 4.6875 grams.)

The frame came in at 8 points Head Light & 342 grams. I will check the swingweight tomorrow on a Prince Precision Tuning Center.

OK thanks. Probably more than I will add. Looks you you make it more headlite by adding the leather and 5 grams in the butt and 6 grams at 3/9 and 3 at 6.

The stock swingweight of my demo is 320sw and I just want to get it up to 325 so I will probably add 4 grams at either 3/9 or 2/10 and then another 6 in the handle.

I like the spacing on this frame - similar to a Pure Aero but with 18 crosses instead of 19, and the 66 flex makes it about perfect for my preferred flex.

300 gram frames are easy to customize with weight and I like the more open pattern frames. It just took my local shop until April to get them in stock.

I've been slowly warming up to the fact that I wish to purchase my first Prince racquet.

I was aiming for the warrior but all the talk about extra power have me hesitating.

My previous work horse is a 16x20 (?!) Donnay but I have play tested a couple of Babolats (PA/PD) and Wilsons and come to the conclusion that even though a very modern super spinny racquet is fun to play with, I want something with more touch, control and comfort.

What say ye Prince wielders, which in the Textreme line would be the best bet?

Sounds like the 100P would be a good bet. Great touch, control and comfort. The TT95 offers more of the same, but in a more demanding package.

I had to remove 3 grams of tungten tape at 3&9 to get the swingweight down.

3 grams of TT at 3-9 o'clock & 3 grams at 6 o'clock.

The swing-weight dropped from 341 to 337.

6 grams of TT at 3-9 o'clock & 3 grams at 6 o'clock. This swingweight is a little too high for my preference.

I had a picture posted but it had a customer's name on a stringing ticket so I deleted the picture. :(

I am the OP of this thread and after a week (~12 hrs) committed to playing this racquet and only this racquet, I have to say I was so wrong about it... Yes I bought one after criticizing the press accolades it got ;). The TW100 is more powerful than most other racquets I have played, but the more I get dialed into it, the more I like it amd the more confident I get with it.

I had been playing a TT100T from about September to February, then decided it was too whippy for me and moved up to a 100P. Soon after I added a TT95. I like them both but after a few weeks I realized I was doing more work with them than I wanted, especially the TT95. Enter the TW100.

If I could chenge the original premise of this thread I would, though it has led to some great discussion.

There may be no Holy Grail, but there is a Goldilocks

At first I thought the TWarrior might be too much power, but after playing with it a bit, I've come to realize that it's a very controllable power, at least for me, and I like that about this racquet. You don't have to work hard to get some decent pop, and its controllable once you get the right strings and tension down, which I'm still tinkering with. I noticed that it has 8 mains in the throat and the stringbed in the center of the racquet doesn't look all that open for a 16x18; had a hard time telling it apart from a similar sized 16x19 racquet I have. Also agree with Jack and others that it could use a little weight; but for it's low stock static weight, it has a healthy SW to begin with so it's already fairly stable; which makes for a great platform racquet. Just need to dial in the strings now.

Played better with this mod, but I think there's room to add a little more.
Jack; how did you distribute that 4g at 3 and 9? 4, 4-inch long strips of 1/4 inch lead? Smaller lengths stacked? Have you tried adding more weight yet?

This picture with 341 grams total weight / 337 swingweight is with 1/16 piece (4.6875 grams) BluTac in the buttcap. 3 grams of TT at 6 o'clock, 1.5 grams of TT at both 3&9.

Update :

I added another 1/2 piece section (2.34 grams) of Blu-Tac in the Butt-cap trying to bring the swingweight down to the 330 range. I will move the TT down from 3/9 as necessary to get the swingweight lower.

Will remeasure on the Prince PTC later today.

Yes, (4) .25" wide, 1" long strips.

Haven't tried adding more weight yet. I think I may first try moving the lead to 10/2 to increase plow a little more. Either that or leave the weight at 3/9 and add a bit to 12'.

Jack ,

what is the static weight and balance on yours now?

I can swing a 12.5 oz frame buy my favorite setup seems to be 12.2 oz (342 grams ), 325-328 swingweight and around 7.5 to 8 points HL.

Once the swingweight gets over 330 I tend to notice that more than the static weight, has I start hitting late instead of in front.

Why are you de-polarizing the racquet by adding weight at 6'? Just wondering?
I would suggest removing that piece at 6' and see what that does to sw.
Also, adding more weight inside the buttcap won't bring the sw down at all...will just change balance to slightly more HL.

Mine is 335g now. I have to check balance and sw next time I go into my local shop. I am guessing sw is around 323-325 right now.
I like to weight my racquets up to where I start noticing the head feeling heavy...then I back off a little. Like you, I rarely like it over 330,
and my sweetspot seems to always be 320-325 depending on balance.

I need more weight and like the frames more HL.

Removing the weight at 3/9 drops the swingweight to my preferred range.

Still at 80% winning percentage as a 4.0 with 10 USTA matches this season - only playing 1 or 2 doubles. Won a few tournaments this year also, but just trying to move back to a 16x18 pattern from the 16x15 Steam 99S and 16x16 Head Speed MPAs.

All of these frames are 342 grams and either 7.5 to 8.5 points HL.

The swingweight is the biggest factor I tend to notice -
so I want the Prince down from 337 and moving the weight south helps to lower the swingweight.

The weight at 6 o'clock as an almost neutral effective on the swingweight . I measure it on the Prince PTC to see the actual affects.

I will remove the TT at 6 o'clock on my second frame and snap a comparison pic once that frame gets in. They had to order it.

If you are winning 80% at 4.0, shouldn't you move up to 4.5? I am also rated at 4.0 USTA but only win at around 25% clip in USTA play. I win at higher percentaged as a 4.0 in other flex singles leagues, but a solid 4.0 USTA player will always give me a tough fight, but I love the challenge!

So you're saying 4, 1" long strips stacked on each other on both sides of the fame at 3 and 9 (or maybe 10 and 2 as you noted)?

No. 4 strips in total. 2 on either side of the grommets at 3 oclock and 2 on either side of the grommets at 9 oclock.

Thanks. If my math is correct, 4 1-inch strips adds up to just one gram, correct? Thought you said you had 4g at 3 and 9. Sorry for any confusion.

My apologies. I was wondering why this became so difficult and went back and realized it was my error.
Lets try this again.....

I used (4) 4 inch long, .25" wide strips. Each strip = 1 gram. 4 grams total at 3/9.

No worries. Makes sense now. I feel like this racquet can be really sweet with just the right weight distribution and balance. Like you, I prefer SW in the low 320's and static around 330g so just fine tuning to find that Goldilocks configuration.

Played some more last night and I am back and forth with with the Warrior. I can't decide if I like it or not. It seems to be erratic at times with me making more UEs than normal.
Other times it plays really nice for me and I have no complaints. Another thing is I seem to like this racquet better with full multi than with a poly/multi hybrid.

Jack, I have gone in the complete opposite direction. My confidence is growing with the Warrior every time I play it, and am feeling less dialed into the 100P.

Ive been playing the TW with Multifeel 16 and it is a great pairing. Im goingto try Head Velocity next.

Do I smell a potential trade?

Multifeel is a nice lower powered multi and 16 guage works well in the Warrior. My demo had 16g NXT and that played very well.
Head Velocity sounds a lot like Multifeel and I also want to try that one. My local shops don't stock it yet though, so I may have
to buy some online.

I agree Velocity does seem very similar to Multifeel, though I have read it has more spin potential. I've got a few sets of each coming from TW. I have not played anything that has a better plushness and dwell to me than Multifeel. Im hoping the increased spin potential of Velocity is for real and also shares the same feel as MF.

I also just got 2 of the last packs of Discho Microfibre from the exclusive US distributor, who is reportedly discontinuing stocking it. I have mixed feelings if I want to like it or not :(

Can anyone who played with both raquets compare the TT Warrior 100 to the Head Graphene Speed MP?

I have hit with and owned all three of these :
Head Speed MPA, Head Graphene Speed 16x19, and Warrior 100 16x18

The Head Graphene Speed was my least favorite of the bunch as it has the tightest pattern 16x19.

Still using both my three 16x16 MPAa and two 16x18 PW100s. All are 342 grams (12.2 oz) , 8 points HL and 325 to 330 swing-weight.

The Warrior has the most power and best volleys- the MPA has the most spin and allows me to swing out more easily on groundstrokes.

The ability to switch from very heavy spin to flatter balls with these 16x16 and 16x18 medium flex frames is the predominant reason I care for these frames.

Ha. That's why it's my MOST favorite of the bunch :)

I have played with both.

The Speed is lower powered with more control. The TT Warrior launches a little higher and hits loopier. It has more power,

Is there any resemblance between the Warrior and the old model Tour 100 16x18 - apart from being made by the same manufacturer?

IMO no, they are night and day.

Tour 16x18 (Players frame-ish) VS Textreme Warrior (Tweener-through and through)

Differences:
Beam Width, Stiffness, Weight, playability, comfort, control, level of awesomeness, paintjob

Similarities:
They both have 16 mains and 18 cross string in the hoop. They both say Prince on them

They are both great frames, but they target two entirely different players.

I came home and was praying it made it here already!!! I can't wait to take it out for a hit!! I want to take a pic of them side by side, and see the differences in hoop size and beam width!!

EDIT: It did make it here today!!!! That was quick!!! I just looked outside and it was sitting there :) I have to go open it now
You are learning Grasshopper!
