Prince Virtue: My favorite shoe

Prince Virtue

This has to be the least expensive tennis shoe I've ever purchased. I got 3 pairs at Sam's Warehouse for $20 bucks each.

I've owned Nike Cage, Adidas Barricade IV, and neither of these were as good as these shoes. These things fit my feet like a glove. I never think about them.

The outsole does wear fairly quickly, but it performs awesomely. And at 20 bucks a shot, you can't really go wrong.

The upper is made of a nice soft leather. Plenty of side support and minimal, but sufficient toe drag protection.

The shoe is roomy and very neutral inside.

What sucks is that Prince seems to have abandoned these shoes.

Actually, that looks like a take down version of a Prince shoe that was out a few years ago, the model name escapes me right now but it was white with some green/black trim and had those cutout stripes on the sides.

I also got 3 pairs from Sam's when they still carried them. They're OK, but I wouldn't say they're better or as good as the Barricade 4. They're about the same quality as the Costco Kirkland Court shoes (also for $15 or $20, I don't remember which). That's all. But for the money, they're pretty decent and perform respectably enough.

They wear out pretty fast though. So when I got chances to get brand name shoes like Barricade 3, 4, Vapor 3, 4, BFII, Babolat All Team Court for cheap (between $35 to $50) during local sale/clearance events, it was a no-brainer to go for the brand name shoes because they're still a notch above in quality and durability.

By the way, how did you know they're called Prince Virtue? I didn't see any model name at all on the box or the shoes themselves. By the way, 2 of 3 pairs I got was actually for $15 because Sams was clearing them out on discount.

You are probably thinking of the QT Fastcourt.

The tongue has the name "Virtue" on them.

I'm sure the Barricade is a better made shoe, but the fit is everything for me. Something about these shoes are perfect for my specific foot. The length, the toe box, the weight and amount of cushion is just right for me.

I'll have to check out the QT Fastcourt. Maybe I'll get the same fit with better outsole material.
