And it reveals that pro tennis is sick.
Here are some interesting figures, in million dollars:
Djokovic : 100
Federer: 98
Nadal: 78
Murray: 45
Ferrer: 29
Berdych: 25
This is what those guys, still active on the tour, won throughout all their career.
Here's the prize money of some retired players:
Sampras: 43
Agassi: 31
Becker: 25
Kafelnikov: 23
Prize money increased by 30 to 50% each year for any GS tournament, so Djokovic doubled his wins since 2012 when he had $44 million. He could easily finish his career at 200 millions...
These figures in my opinion reveal the real and derp problem of tennis: it's not a sport anymore it's a show, a cash machine, like the nba turned into since the early 2000's with big and small franchise.
How come guys line Ferrer or Berdych, who struggled to win only 1 or 2 master series earn as much money as Agassi or Becker????
This is outrageous. To provide quality to the pro tour prize money distribution needs to be fair.
