I am quite into noticing pro gear as many in this forum, but it surprises me when guys talk about sampras changing his racquet as though its blasphemy or a national disaster.Agassi was synonymous with Nike and then you see him wearing Adidas which is the main rival for Nike.He did mention the reasons(support for charity, etc),but it does come as a 'shock' to the brand loyalists!
We also know that the racquets used by pros are custom made and what they use may not be suitable for our game.Likewise, most pros use light shoes, which are not very durable. If we spend a lot to buy those shoes,we would probably wear it out soon.Gear does make a difference, but lets not lose focus on the game and its skill.I am a 4.5 level player and sometimes i get beaten by a poor sparring partner/coach with an old racquet and torn shoes and it makes me think!I feel quite sheepish in my nike shoes and wilson racquet and dri fit clothes!
