Just came back from my local tennis store and found they stocked up on the new Pro Penn Marathon. Was wondering if anyone tried them out and how it stacks up with the previous Pro Penn + . Thanks

I played a match with this Pro Penn Marathon extra duty ball today in a match. our opponents didn't have objections so we went ahead because I was told this ball lasts and holds its bounce so much longer. I was bit hesitant because in the past, this marathon ball was hard to control and had tendency to fly.
But to my surprise,,, it had pretty good control... I think maybe cause it is Extra duty felt and had more felt on the ball ?? More positively, it lasted the entire 3 sets we played. Even after 3 sets of heavy hitting and serves, it had pretty good bounce. No dead bounce that kills your serve and allow the opponents to crush their returns..... in the 3rd set due to dead ball. Very surprisingly good balls.

I had an issue with Dunlop balls as they were hard on the elbow, so I was hesitating at first but two thumbs up for ProPenn extra or heavy duty balls. They last longer for sure compare any balls (Costco sell pen balls worst of a kind)

That’s why we call them “Dunrocks” at our Club.

Well, oddly enough, we were told that the NEW ATP tour Dunlop balls were very different and they were Lighter and much better bouncing than previous Dunlop heavy stuff. Is this not true ??

ProPenn Marathon Extra Duty balls are excellent as are the new Penn ATP extra duty balls. The new Penn ATP ball is extremely comfortable to hit with - a bit softer than the ProPenn. Their response reminds me a lot of the Slazenger Wimbledon balls but the felt lasts like 5x longer.

I used dunlop heavy stuff while ago and never thought of going back after using propenn heavy duty (if it is not broken don't fix it :D:D)

I gave the Pro Penn Marathon a try as well, and I really like them. I agree that they seem to be a bit faster than other balls though.
Yes, Pro penn marathon last long time. but did you try the Extra duty felt pro penn marathon ? they have more felt so they aren't as fast. maybe you tried the regular duty felt, they are faster because they have less felt on them. But overall, these balls seem to have tighter felt on them, so out of the can, they look less fluffy. But as you play with them, felt will fluff up more and they slow down little bit. but bounce will keep for a long duration due to inner core coating they put on that keeps the air in the ball.

Yes it was the extra duty. It was also a super windy day so it might have not been the best judge.

Yea, these balls seem to have more tightly woven felt on them which makes them almost look smaller out of the can. I think they did that to put more felt on the ball,, pack them in sold of. but as you play with them these felt will loosen up and become fluffier . and the ball slows down.
