Pro Staff 6.1 100 and a little lead tape... WOW (also, question inside)

I have a couple Pro Staff Six.One 100 v13 rackets I was about to put up for sale, until I put a little lead tape at 12 o'clock. Wow. I cannot say enough about how this changed everything. The feel is there, the power is there, the control is there.

I tried a leather grip, which didn't help me bond with the stick. I tried lead at 3 and 9, but didn't like that. Power was still not where I wanted it, it lacked a little spin, and my forehand would still sail sometimes.
Going back to the original grip and just putting a little lead tape at 12 made this thing magical. I haven't even tried messing with strings yet (currently Black Code 17, but going to try out Champion's Choice with gut mains).

Aside from the recommendation I'm making here, I'm wondering if someone can explain why this made such a big difference. Is it twist-weight?

BTW: my background is 4.5, one handed backhand, and used to getting some power from the racket (history: 6.1 classics, henman pro braideds, pure drive roddicks).

Lookup threads on Recoil Weight and MgR/I. Try and get the specs of the racquet measured. It’s the combination of specs and your own physical attributes that makes the racquet feel very natural when you swing it. To answer your request, you increased the racquet’s SW without changing TW.
