Hi guys !

I was playing with the Pro Staff 97s since 6 years, but I needed to go back to 100 inch² headsize. So I took my old Pro Staff 6.1 BLX. Too light, but I already added lead, leather grip and overgrip when I played with it by the time to push it to 302 g (10,65 oz) unstrung.
Is the Pro Staff 6.1 100 v13 kind of an evolution of the 6.1 100 BLX (heavier and with a 16x19 instead 16x18), similar to play with (considering the weight I added), or they are way differents ? I would love to try the Pro Staff 6.1 100 v13, but unfortunately it seems impossible to find it in Europe now...

Thanks guys !

I've played a lot with both. There are some similarities in terms of that ProStaff feel but other than that they play quite differently. The v13 is easier to play with (bigger sweetspot and faster through the air). It's a truly excellent attack weapon, especially for OHBH, but is less stable on defense than the old BLX was (when the BLX was weighted up I mean). The v13 is more precise, especially on slices. It trades 10% spin for 20% more precision, I'd say.

It's a real shame if they've discontinued the v13 in Europe now. I bought a few and have an unused spare but I don't want to part with it yet. Actually I'm still experimenting with dialing in the best setup as I found it inconsistent of late - perhaps because I'm experimenting too much!

I do have a brand new BLX version for sale which you can view on the auction site if you still love the old classic box beam and are trying to find one. There probably aren't many left now, especially new. I'm in the UK by the way.

Thanks a lot, @TimePlease !

That surprises me a lot, I didn't expect that, knowing the PS BLX 6.1 100 is a 16x18 and the v13 a 16x19.

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it ! But I'm good for now, I still have my two old BLX 6.1 100

interesting that the V13 is more precise, always thought the box beam would feel more precise! mind you have not hit with the V13.

More precise mainly because of the string pattern - the extra cross makes a big difference but also the mains are a little tighter too (but not as tight as the 97 v13). For my game, I'd say the v13 stringbed is about perfect - it's brilliant for placing kick serves on a dime. It also helps that the v13 is much more whippy than the BLX, simply because of the beam shape.

I mean the v13 16x19 has 10% less spin but 20% more precision than the BLX 16x18
