Pro Staff 95 VS Six One 95 (18x20 or 16x18)

Semi-Pro
For those who play and/or have tried these racquets...

Can you give some overall feedback on how they compare? I like the looks of the weight/swing weight more on the six one 95's, but the Pro Staff 95 is rated at a lower flex rating, which I prefer.

For the feedback on the Pro Staff 95...let's pretend they were modified with lead tape, to be at least comparable to the six one 95's in stock form. As I would add a leather grip to either frame and keep the swing weight around 330-335.

It seems like the six one 95's are more popular, but if the Pro staff 95 is modified is it the better frame?

Thanks

I played with a PS95. I never found a setup that felt great, it always felt too flimsy despite constantly tinkering with the weight. I think the Six.One line is fantastic, but that's coming from someone who hasn't had an issue with stiff racquets/strings so far.

At the same specs I would compare them as follows:

Control - Pro Staff
Power - Six.One
Spin - Pro Staff
Touch - Pro Staff
Forgiveness - Six.One

To flimsy as in the racquet felt like it flexed to much? What's the heaviest you got the racquet up to with lead?

It's been awhile, but if I were to guess probably around 350g or so total. I'm not the best customizer.. I'm sure someone better at that sort of thing might have better advice. I just never felt that the slight increase in feel offset the innate lack of stability/plowthrough.

Sticks like the Six.One, Blade 93, or VCORE Tour 89 have good feel and are far more solid in other aspects (just my opinion).

Spin,

Which six one 95 model (string pattern) are you referencing?

When you say forgiveness...are you saying the sweet spot is bigger on the six one's in your experience?

Yeah it would be interesting.

I was looking at his list and well I was thinking I should get the PS95...until the last one listed that is.

All I know is that the 6.1 95 (18x20) is the best racket I ever had in terms of vibrations or lack thereof.

I am referencing the two most recent models.

The Six.One has a larger sweetspot (more forgiveness) thanks to its stiffer and thicker beam.

Even though you feel the sweet spot is bigger on the six one 95, you use the pro staff 95 still and not the six one 95? Your sig says you use the pro staff.

Why is that weird? Is sweetspot size all that matters? I prefer the feel, control and spin of the Pro Staff and hit cleanly enough to easily use the PS 95 (considering that I use both the 90 and the 85 too that should be a given), so the added forgiveness of the Six.One does not really help me in any way.

I never said it was weird...

Just wanted to know why you used it over the six one 95.

So how do you have your Pro Staff 95's modified, or do you? If so, what's your final specs?

How would you describe the flexibility of the PS 95's versus the six one95's?

4g at 3/9, 4g at 12, 4g towards the bottom of the handle and a leather grip (+overgrip). Final specs are around 358g strung with a SW around 330 and a 9 pts HL balance.

The PS feels much more flexy and you can feel the ball on the stringbed much longer as a result IMO.

How much static weight did your racquet gain by replacing the original grip by leather? (and what was the original grip?)

I don't know, as I let TWE do that for me since I already was going to use their matching service...

I think it added about 10g when I did that on the older model with the same grip. I think the grip is Wilson Sublime. Check out ChicagoJack's grip specs thread in the Other Equipment section for more precise values on grip weight.
