Pro Staff Classsic 6.1 vs NBLADE and nSIX-ONE TOUR

Which one is the most like the Pro Staff Classic 6.1?

I need a lighter racket to help me with my bicep tendonitis, etc. Not to mention a change to a newer racket with the new technologies would be great.

Your suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks!

If you're looking for something that's similar the Wilson Pro Staff Classic 6.1, I would say demo the...
1.) Wilson nSix-One 95 (open)--derived from the PSC 6.1, but much more muted
2.) Prince Diablo Mid--I think this is your best bet
3.) Prince Original Graphite Mid (older technology, yes)
4.) Prince NXG Graphite Midplus (crisp, and a great deal)
4.) Dunlop M-Fil 200 2006 (another great deal)
5.) 320 and 335 Tecnifibre TFight (16/20)
6.) Babolat Pure Control Team Standard
7.) Avery M3 Control Mid+

The PSC 6.1 was a harsh and extremely demanding frame. These frames are all much better for your body and user-friendly. Good luck!

I would go N6-1....plays fairly similar. I have not hit nBlade, but I have hit with frames with similar specs and I don't think you will like it moving from the Classic 6.1.

The wilson ncode is not light at all. I would wait to get the [k] factor 90. It will be coming out soon and it is supposed to be lighter than the ncodes.
Everyone is saying that the [k] factor is more like the pro staff's and it is more old school. It is also going to be a new technology.

Craig A. Carter posted that the KSix-One Tour 90 had a very raw/old-school feel, but felt that the kSix-One 95 lacked feel. Also, the KSix-One Tour 90 is not light--strung, it's approximately 12.5 ounces.

Anyway the K90 is supposed to be an oldschool prostaff racket, like the PS 6. 90, which was never made.

thanks

Thank you everyone. If the club has the NSix-One as a demo I will try it tomorrow. I think the K is coming in next week and I will try that one. I like my rackets strung very tight, so it is hard to demo some that are not strung the way I like it.

Ouch, my sympathy on the "-itis" you're fighting. I've moved away from the 6.1 classic this year, but I went in the direction of heavier and more flexible frames. The Wilson has never hurt my arm, but the Prostaff has so much gas over spin for me that I can't sustain a singles rally as effectively with it. The Diablo and NXG options I think are worth a look - the mids may swing heavier than you want - but the nBlade is definately worth a look given the reception it's gotten lately. The Prince O3 Hybrid Hornet is quite user friendly for a middleweight and has also made a lot of friends in case you see one on a wall of demos. My $.02... (GOOD list of options from T.B.G.)

Oh, one lesson I've learned on strings: although the Prostaffs seem to demand being strung right up to 65# or so, other racquets may actually require rather loose tension to work right. Higher tension doesn't guarantee better feel or control.

Healthy and speedy recovery to you.

The PSC 6.1 is somewhere in between the Tour and nBlade within the player-tweener range. Would moving to the more demainding n6.1 Tour/K90 help your injury? It'll probably have more control but you'll have to work harder. Weight is about the same but the PSC 6.1 would feel lighter because it's more head-light.

Six-One OUT but now confused...please help!

  The club doesn't carry the Six-One due to not many people able to play with a 90 headsize. I ruled it out after talking to the tennis director. I used the nBlade again today for the 3rd time and will try the K next week when it comes in but.....I am really liking the nBlade. It is growing on me. In fact, it is easier for me to hit my topspin backhand more consistantly with it than my PS. When I switched back to my Pro Staff Classic to see the the difference it felt SO HEAVY! In fact, it was difficult to serve with it after using the nBlade for 45 minutes or so. Back I went to the nBlade. Here's the kicker...I have an extremely hard, fast forehand that many can not return in the league level I play in when I use my Pro Staff BUT seem to not be able to do it with the nBlade. I can do one somewhat similar by adding a lot more topspin but it's not the same. My thinking is if I can get an nBlade strung very tight like I have on my Pro Staff then perhaps I will be able to hit my killer forehand and 1st serve (hard for me to hit it the way I do with the Pro Staff)???? What do you think?

I have a match tomorrow and we need to win (1st Doubles) and I'm taking the nBlade along with my Pro Staff's (we have beat every team in the league so need to continue winning).

But stringing it less tight will give you more power...

If you have access to one I suggest trying a Wilson Hyper Pro Staff 6.1. I used the Classic for a while (then switched to the 6.0 85" because I couldn't take the stiffness of the classic) and now I play with the HPS and couldn't be happier! It's a great frame, slightly lighter than the classic and more flexible. It's a GREAT stick. They also go cheaper new than the nCodes and KFactor down by the "bay". Good luck!

Yep, I've gone through this too. Add a bit of lead to the nBlade as it's too light and soft to have the same plow-through factor as your PSC 6.1. I tried the nBlade looking for something that was easier to swing on serves. I eventually gave up on it and switched back to the ProStaff as it's definitely more fun for hitting heavy balls. I've added a little bit of lead at 2, 10 and 12 on the 6.1 and now it's easier to swing on serves.

Found my new racqued...

Thanks everyone for your input.

I tried the KFactor 6.1 Team today (a pro and tennis store owner let me demo his) and it is very similar to the PSC that I have but lighter and had a very nice feel to it! I think I found my next racquet! I look forward to using it next week to make sure my initial instincts are correct.
