I'm sure the PS folks won't like the comparison, but seems the dial is a "homage"
to the Stringway adjustment dial. Now I wonder if Stringway will made a "homage" with the variable width clamp!
it's the adjustment screw. One you need a screwdriver to tighten and loosen the jaws. The new one has a dial to do it.
Yes. I use it for the bigger gap open string bed racquets, like the last string on the frame.
That is very true. I bought 3 claws when I got mine, 2 Ms and 1 L. The cost of those 3 clamps is &149. You get 2 clamps that span the same distance of the M and L combined for $105.
Personally I like having the 3 clamps when stringing the mains. I can usually clamp the penultimate main with an M clamp and the last main with the L. As far as stringing crosses I think the new 2.0 / 2.0+ version would be hands down better.
Well, the variable width allows for less pulling of the strings when clamped. This supposedly affects elasticity of the string, but my own tests show no difference is tension detected by Tennis Vibes app, Stringmeter, or Racquetune. However, in my blind test, where I had my kid string 2 sticks, one with the StringWay clamps, and one with the PS Claws, which I then played with. Once broken, I then asked for the reverse done, switching sticks to remove the stick as a variable. I did this 4 times, and I picked the claws strung stick 3 of 4 times. As flawed tests go, I was convinced, and the kids like the claws too, so we use it all the time.YMMV!
How would these improve my stringing experience if all I use is the lowest-end gamma progression stringer with the included stock gamma flying clamps?
