Truth. @Sardines any pics? Not in the market for one, just curious. Can’t seem to find anything about this x-mount from their website and googling has also failed me somewhat. Where can I look into/buy this new mount?

the picture is beautiful... but mobility is lost
I've used the original 2 point mount for nearly 10 years without issue. The beauty of the new mount is that the extra arms are removable so it can be configured as a 2 point, 4 point or 6 point mount.
I'll be ordering the ModuleX 2 point mount for myself. The mount does disassemble so it should pack down pretty small.
A pic of it in bits:

The 2 point option is all anyone needs. The extra space between the stringbed and main support bar is a long awaited enhancement. The added space makes weaving crosses significantly easier. The new mounting system is more robust and of a higher quality than the previous mounting setup.
It is overall heavier and bigger, with the 2 point adding a tad over 500g and a bit more bulk to the package. It does fit more tables and counter tops, because of the new mount. You don't have to mount the new guide piece for the X2. The X6 does require replacement of the old string guide to the new big piece.....

I believe they are responding to the general criticisms by many for being 2 pt, whether this is good or not.
For those who don't want to buy a new mount, I changed the bolt on my old mount to a longer one and raised the 2 points by 20mm. And I had to add risers to the PS as well. Personally, the old mount is simpler to mount a racquet, even with the longer mounting bolts. Anyone want the correct bolt size, it's M8 1.25mm pitch. The original bolt is a 70mm If you want to raise it by say 20mm, you will need a M8-1.25 90mm screw. The difference between the old mount and the X mount is about 25mm, and you MUST also raise the PS stringer by that same amount. I built raised platform out of old tennis balls., and is velcro mounted.
I borrowed the idea from a pic I saw of the PS stringing station. Note the raised mount points. I thought of 3D printing a PSA block to raise it, but was too lazy to start up AutoCAD, so went with pre-drilled zinc coated steel plates. After traveling with the new X mount a few times, we may go back to the old mount, and leave the X Mount permanently set up in the home.
Parts you need to replace:
2x M8-1.25 screws for the mount
4x M4-0.5 screws for the mount plates
New matting for the mount.

I believe those are products on sale by PS. We have not used any of them. Thanks for the update and info!
In that photo, I see what looks like a rechargeable battery? Is this a Pro Stringer product? Have you used it?
And the stand, have you used this? Also, have you and/or your children tried their poly strings?

3.0 has yet to be released.Where did the new version disappear from the prostringer website?

Kind of very awkward for them to only put up the mount product entry but not yet the 3.0 stringer then. What’s the point? The new Pro-stringer Module X mounting system has been designed and will be included as part of the new Pro-stringer 3.0 package that is due out soon. Unfortunately, it is not compatible with previous or current versions of the Pro-stringer.

Do you mean for carrying it around airports/travel?Personally I would only suggest only people with Popeye sized arms to get the X mount. It's heavier overall, with about 2lbs (1ish kg) added for the X6.
To me it looks like the 2 point MountX will work with the older Pro Stringers ok. The PS will tension against the frame in the normal manner. That is not exactly true. I have the X mount and it works with the PS2, you just have to change the string guide brace to a larger piece. If you look at the poster for the X6, you see the PS3 has no string guide brace like the PS2. The large piece right next to it at the bottom is the new guide brace, which are bridge the distance to the frame with the new mounts. Users will have to have open the unit, and switch out the screws. I suggest you guys contact PS directly to inquire about instructions if you are not that handy.
Personally I would only suggest only people with Popeye sized arms to get the X mount. It's heavier overall, with about 2lbs (1ish kg) added for the X6. My fix for raising the original mount by about an inch or 24mm is enough for me to be comfortable and a lot cheaper, but I don't reach across the string bed but spin the racquet around once my knuckle crosses the center bar.
I should add I ordered the first version and not this final release. My top mount is like the original version, with a top piece and nut to lock down the frame. The X4/6 do not need to have this, but I wanted the flexibility to go 2 mount if I want.
No. If you look at the adjustable screw system on the main mount, the dial for the screw sticks out and the PS2 can't reach the frame.Depending on version, you still need an adapter for the top mount distance. It was provided in the kit for the prototype mount I bought, which were 3D printed pieces. As mentioned, the X2 version has a screw top mount in my X mount. Not sure I'd trust tension holding on both ends in the 2 mount version, if that's how they are shipping the finished product. To me it looks like the 2 point MountX will work with the older Pro Stringers ok. For the 4 point and 6 point MountX you will need the new string Sensor guide to tension around the side mounts.....

The most important reason why we bought the PS. Overall weight is an issue for carry on in airport which are strict. We've been harassed in HKG, SYD, MEL, CDG and LHR. Funnily not in the US. So we now use the modified v1 when going those places,Do you mean for carrying it around airports/travel?
Interesting you used that string guide. I was given 2 smaller ones as well. This particular piece needed to be filed down to fit my PS2, and is bigger than the other pieces.
That is the string guide that was supplied, it fitted perfectly onto my PS.....no modifications neededInteresting you used that string guide. I was given 2 smaller ones as well. This particular piece needed to be filed down to fit my PS2, and is bigger than the other pieces.
I stand corrected. Looks like the new 2 pt mounting system can be used with existing Pro stringer units with a modified plate that positions against the frame. Seems to me the biggest advantage is not one yet mentioned. The added space between base bar and bottom of frame should make weaving crosses less difficult. Now have my ModuleX-2pt, it works great with my Gen 1 Pro Stringer. I've strung 3 racquets on it thus far, 2 Babolats and my Wilson Pro Staff 100.
It has a wide size range and can handle any racquet size you care to try on it (85 to 137sq inch are no problem)....this was a limitation with the old racquet bar.

No Problems with the PS clearing the end knob.

Oh, so that's the standard adapter they ship? I prefer the smaller one. In fact, we thought that particular piece was for the butt cap pull since it has that a lower recess point to pull from under the butt cap. That is the string guide that was supplied, it fitted perfectly onto my PS.....no modifications needed
Actually, it's the ostensibly the only reason to upgrade, but in hindsight, I think going X4 or 6 is the best reason. With $20 in parts, you can get that extra space with the old mount, if not the extra length some people need for certain frames.I stand corrected. As far as I can tell, the main updates are all about the new MountX along with the new Sensor guide to allow it to string around the X4-X6 side mounts.Anyone have any inklings into what updates 3.0 will bring?
Might I suggest you start a new thread with that info. It would help new users or potential buyers. The new Pro-stringer Module X mounting system has been designed and will be included as part of the new Pro-stringer 3.0 package that is due out soon. Unfortunately, it is not compatible with previous or current versions of the Pro-stringer.I just bought the Pro-Stringer 3.0 with the Module X 6 point mount. I haven't used the 2.0 tension head, so I don't have a baseline for comparison, but here are my thoughts:
After stringing with multifilament at 55# on an oversize racquet (Prince CTS Blast 110 -- my old tester
- 3.0 Tension Head:
- The 3.0 tension head works well. It has the ability to perform the "buttcap pull" rather than pulling at an angle through the throat by turning the string guide over. I personally prefer to pull at the throat.
- The string guide on the 3.0 head is designed to work with Module X mount points by being able to index off of the frame "around" each of the mount points.
- I found the tension head to perform consistently, and the placement of the tensioning button made it easy to use the same hand to put the string in the tension jaws and hit the tension button in one motion.
- Module X Frame Mount System:
- The Module X system holds the racquet well.
- It goes together pretty easily, but obviously takes more time to assemble than the 2 point mount system
- Working around the side supports is as easy or easier than other 4-6 point mount systems as the "C holders" are very narrow/don't get in the way at all.
- I personally prefer not clamping the frame in place (which obviously is required on a 2-point mount system)
- Claws 2.0
- Great clamps
- Tool-less adjustment (uses thumbscrews like most fixed clamps, rather than Phillips head screwdriver)
- They hold the strings very well without excessive pressure / deformation of the strings.
- They do seem to loosen slightly over time (not unlike other fixed and floating clamps), so periodic re-tightening is needed
), checking the tension against Stringster measured it dead-on at 55#. I know that the smartphone apps can be a little finicky, but I was pleasantly surprised at the test result.
I felt comfortable and confident stringing with the machine. I've done a total of 3 racquets on it, and the results are good and consistent. The clamps are better than any floating clamps I've used in the past. I don't feel that I'm really lacking when from a quality of work product standpoint compared to a tabletop / floor model -- the tension head is accurate, the 6 point mount is stable & safe, and the clamps hold really well w/out string deformation.
Please feel free to ask any questions you might have as I'm sure I've missed something.
I was wrong and you are correct. I did a lot of engineering to mod the PS2 to fit the new head. The present shipping version of the X4 and 6 mount will not work with PS2 and older models. Only the X2 works without mods to the older models. Apologies for the misinformation. The new Pro-stringer Module X mounting system has been designed and will be included as part of the new Pro-stringer 3.0 package that is due out soon. Congrats on the purchase! And sorry about the injury!Just placed my order for the new machine with the module x 6! Excited to start stringing again now that I'm injured
Is this something that could be adjusted for by a slightly higher tension on those strings? Or, is butt cap pulling just not ideal for natural gut given it's characteristics? It's surprising btw that you cannot simply bring the tensioner to the grommet at the bottom of the head in the throat? My kids are so good with it that now I can hardly tell the difference between poly hybrids in blind tests vs my professional stringer jobs. There is a bit more difference for gut/poly, but that's more in the main 4 strings, which is sort of double pulled a bit with the starting clamp and flying clamps. Gut just shows the difference more. So I can get my racquet strung rapidly if I am away from my professional stringer.
