Just ordered pro supex(blue gear and Big ace) --what about string tension? Do you follow the supplier's recommendation of 48lbs for a 16 string pattern 95 head or string at 60lbs (normal tension) with synthetic gut.

I would just drop the tension you normally use for syn gut by 10%...48lbs seems a bit extreme if you are trying it for the first time and dont normally string low. So that means you would be stringing at around 54lbs.

I've tried big ace 16 at 54, big ace 17 at 56, and blue gear 16 at 55 in my APD cortex. AFter all that, I'll likely go with blue gear 17 at 54 next time. I might even try 53 but I don't want to go too low. I find 56 to be perfectly comfortable so you should be fine if you treat it like any other poly. Great string!

I'd drop 10% off your syn gut tension as a starting point.

I use Big Ace as the main string in hybrids at 48 lbs and it plays well for me, but it looks like I like to string lower than you.

The supplier's recommendation is 54 to 62lbs. Check the Pro Supex USA website as they have updated that recommendation-probably based on comments from this board.

I string BA 1.25 at 58lbs on an N6.1 95-try 56lbs and go fromthere.

I wouldn't worry about Pro Supex's recommendations at all.

Just follow the recommendations made by your racquet manufactuer.

I have strung many racquets with Pro Supex at tension levels outside the recommended tensions and there have been no issues whatsoever.

Jon, off topic, what did you string up your wife's 03 white with? I hit with one the other day and really liked it.

Hi PED, I strung up my wife's O3 White with Big Ace red mains at 51lbs and Prince Lightning XX 16 pink crosses at 53lbs.

Jon:
How does the 03 hit with that setup, and how is the durability of the crosses? I would think 51 hits pretty sweet in that stick and give her a bit more dwell time. That's the one thing I've never liked about the 03's is that it seems to come off the strings very rapidly. I like a little more pocketing but the 03 white seems to do that better than my son's 03 tour.

Yup, I totally agree with you. This is not a stick for those who generate really high racquet head speed and makes reigning in control on the racquet quite difficult.

My wife seems to play very well with the poly/syn gut hybrid as compared to full syn gut. It provides her with additional amounts of control and reduces irritating string movement which is a bane of all "O" port racquets from Prince.

I use Big Ace 17 and found that I could lower my tension about 15%, not the 20% that your example shows. This is in a O3 Citron{ Blue}.
