Pro Supex initial hit

^^^I would string it up Wednesday. I think BA plays better after a few hours anyway and it loosens up. BA 1.17 is still BA but it does hit differently than the 1.28 which I find to be a good bit firmer. You will love the string but it might be wise to get used to it a bit before giving it a baptism of fire in a tourney. Let us know how it goes.

James,

Whatever it is, always remember this: Have faith in your abilities, the racquet and strings are not important. What counts in any match is playing with passion and a strong fire in the belly! Hunt down every point, always make your opponent play an extra shot. Always hold your head high even you've missed a point, put it aside and concentrate on the next one.

Good luck and get 'em, tiger!

i have a school tennis tournament tomorrow, so i was going to string it for that. But it is too late at night now. So i will just string it on wednesday. have a USTA tournament this weekend. Yes, i have played with Big Ace before, but with 1.28, not 1.17. So, i want to string it on wednesday night so i can get used to it on thursday and friday for the weekend.

Play with it on Thursday and Friday and re-string Friday night.

You don't want to go into a tourney with strings that have been used a couple of hours. Particuarly a 1.17 string that can break at any time.

Damn Jono--I am fired up and ready to go kick some a** myself!!!

Well I just ordered my first set of pro supex strings. Was heavily leaning towards Big Ace 1.25mm but changed my mind at the last second and got Premier Ace 1.25mm instead. I like to belt the ball when possible so I figured having a lower powered string might help me from hitting over the baseline :P

repost back when you get the string and play with it... i would like to see how PA does when you "belt" the ball! :)

Calling PROTENNIS63...

quick question... what's the stringing pattern for the BB11? the BB website has a PDF of a pic, it sort of makes sense, but not really... i got most of it, except for 1 piece tie offs/2 piece tie offs.

any light you or anyone else can shed on this would be great!:

thanks

jcstennis,

you have to skip 8T,10T,8H,10H. Pattern is same as my K-Factor six-one 95 18x20. For hybrid stringing, I used tie off: 9T, 7T, and H6. Hope this helps.

well..

i strung up my ncode with Big Ace @ 54 lbs and PSGDuraFlex..

2 days ago i hit with it and loved it !! i can swing as hard as i wanted to with my nCode 6.1 95

but yesterday.. it was like 10 degrees outside and the indoor place felt like it was lower 60's or higher 50's and the strings felt super tight..

wow.. cold weather made my strings feel like metal cables..

anybody else notice this with poly in the cold weather conditions?

phamster

Try playing in 35*F weather like I did last week--talk about tight!! No power and no feel--just know it's not the strings fault, cold make em contract/tighten up. They will be so much better once it is warmer again.

Yes that happens. Happens to gut too. I remember I used to hybrid poly and natural gut and once it is cold the gut would get tight. And in the summer playing on clay the gut will also get tight. Clay does not affect polys though, just cold weather.

I am in love with Big Ace (17g). I use it on my LM Radical. It's an awesome string, and it makes a very sweet, loud, crisp sound.

It ranks right up there with my most favorite polys.

I just strung 2 PD with BA @ 61#, it seems to be more livelier that BB Alu strung @64#. I think BA does have more power, but I'm loving it! I think I'm going to try hybrid BG/BA next.

I strung up full BA @ 53lbs last night in my O3 Speedport Black and will go hit with it tonight. I'm looking forward to trying it. Depending on how it feels, I also have another set to try a BA/Maxim Touch hybrid.

^^^Chris, that should be a $$ setup. I hit with the speedport black last summer in a demo with full syn gut. I can only imagine how sweet it will be with BA at 53. That tension should be perfect with the colder weather as well. With size BA did you go with?

I hit at lunch today, it was 49 degrees and the alu rough hybrid felt like it was 25...maybe it's affected more by the cold but I put it in the bag and just swung away with BG/Titan. It was totally unaffected by the cold. I'm running it at 54/56 but will likely go up to 55/57 next time as I could go up a little bit and not suffer any discomfort. As soon as I get my BG in next week, I'm getting out the shears and cutting out the alu/titan. It's supposed to be warmer (65) tomorrow so maybe it will get a stay of execution.

In the style department, I spoke with the US distributor and 2 things: a. Blue gear will be available in 1.19 in the states in a month or so and b. He mentioned that blue gear is also going to be available in a white colour and will be called blue gear platinum. That's the way I heard it but he said people want different colours to use when they hybrid BG. I'd hit it...lol

"I'd hit it...lol"---that was funny my man!! Can't wait for my 1.19mm BG to come in. Am picking up my 1.25BG/Titan tomorrow and will play in a small tourney on Sat with it.

Great..they sent me an email asking what other colours people would want for BG...I really wanted a natural as the Blue looks a bit crap in my Fischers!

Remember before playing this weekend to read that motivational speech Jono wrote to Hewitt Aussie the other day. After reading it, I was reading to run through a wall!!

Nick, I assume he meant natural, we had a bad connection on the phone.

I got the BA in 1.22

I didn't get to hit and groundstrokes, but I served 3 baskets and wow! The power was great and the spin was fantastic. I think I might go up just a little to 55 or 56 and try it in a hybrid. But, so far, I really like it. Fortunately, I have 2 O3 Blacks, so I can compare side by side.

Hey Circa, what tension you using?

cheers
sadchel

I think I got it strung at 58lbs...full poly job. I kind of regret that because it's starting to put some wear on my elbow. eh

I'll lower tension next time and hybrid it with some good syn gut. I can't take the arm abuse that an all-poly string job puts on me anymore. lol

Jono is like the next coming of Lou Holtz!:)

Chris, I remember that black begin an absolute serve monster!! You ought to try the hybrid side by side. I've done both and ended up using BA mains at 54 or 55 and titan syn gut crosses at 56 or 57. The syn gut gives it that extra bit of pop which is just perfect for me. You'll love it on the groundies too as the spin is nice. Blue gear would work REALLY well in the Black as well.

I had great success volleying with BG. It has much more feel then Bab PHT. I haven't cared for the serves though. Spins great on the kick, but my bomb feels lacking. I'm still working out the kinks. Haven't noticed a huge difference in spin compared to PHT. Overall, BG is a string that's superior in feel and provides better feel for my volleys. PHT provides more control b/c it isn't as powerful. I went up to 56 with BG compared to 54 for my PHT. I'm still playtesting but BG hasn't made me want to completely switch yet. Color is terrible with my black Vantage with red grommets. I've got some Big Ace in red that I'm looking foward to playing. Pro Supex guys, do you think I'll like the BA better? Still trying the BG, but not blown away. Thinking of ordering Lux to try again in my hybrid.

I ended up stringing BA mains @ 53 (to keep it apples to apples) and Maxim Touch crosses @ 58

I'm hitting on Saturday, so I'll play it side by side with the full BA @ 53 job

I am currently using Big Ace in my Tecnifibre T-Fights, but I am having difficulty stringing it up.

This string, I must say, is a definate PITA when stringing the crosses. The string gets bent and stays in that position pretty much every time. Also, as I get near the end of the stringbed it is a ridiculous pain to pull all the way through a grommet hole.

Have others experience this kind of difficulty stringing big ace?

Other poly's such as poly polar, cyber flash, SPPP have not been a pain to string but its just something about Big Ace that does make it a pain.

DrewRafter:
You might like Big Ace better. It does have more feel and power.

<3Tennis: I never had bad problems stringing Big Ace. As a matter of fact, it is just as easy as synthetic gut. Maybe you are kinking it or something. Are your racquets relatively new?

^^^ i have to agree with PT63... BA is easy to string, no problems... but i also use CyberFlash, now that can be a pain sometimes (hard weaves on ATW crosses, uggh!!). CF kinks easier than BA.

Do you weave your crosses "one-ahead"? And when you get near the end, do you 'push-weave' or 'sew' your cross?

Do you use Red BA on the TF??? Sounds like that would look sweet!:)

Drew, I agree with PT63, you might like BA better. I prefer the BG now but BA is really soft and I think more powerful than PHT. I don't know if you have used the lux before but I find it stiffer and less satisfying than either PHT, BG or BA. I've got some alu rough mains right now that I can't wait to cut out. It's a great string for some but not for me.

PED, last spring I was using a full ALU job in a MSpeed. Since I've switched to the Vantage I've been hybriding everything with Tonic 15 and loved it. I've got some BA that is going in next. If I like that then I'm done. If not then I'll try ALU in my setup. Hoping BA will blow my mind.

So I finally got to hit with a big ace main/Laserfibre syn gut cross hybrid today....really good stuff. I think I might just stop trying stuff now. I was not wanting for power, control, or comfort. It also felt like it had some great bite. As a side note I tried blue gear awhile ago and hated it. I didn't like the feel or the way the ball came off the strings, and stringing it was a nightmare for me.

I think this is it for me. Now I just have to decide if I want to use Laserfibre crosses or the Titan syn. gut from pro supex. The Titan is cheaper but I can match colors with the Laserfibre ;-).

^^^J, if you like the laserfibre I would stick with it. I'm still not giving up on the aerostorm :) I played with it last night with full BA 1.22 at 54/52 and it was great. Power was decent and I was able to get some good action on the ball. I still prefer my pdr and apdc but the aerostorm was good with the full ba. One last point, you may want to try the Blue gear as a hybrid with your laserfibre: it transforms the overall feeling of BG and you get a good combo of spin and power.

I just dropped off my PDR to get set up with blue gear 1.19 mains and titan. Should be fun. I'll give a report once I get a chance to hit. Should be a good weekend for it: as Jimmy Buffett says: the weather is here, I wish you were beautiful. I had to cut out the lux, I was getting a sore wrist which I've not had in a while.

Gotta try the titan...I have to sets already and its 3 dollar sets vs. 5 dollar sets, plus you can only get reels of the LF in natural or gold. Can't get red or black! ;-) So there is a big big price difference when you consider a reel of Titan vs. sets of the "right" color LF...but big ace it is for me. :-)

I definitely like the feel of the hybrid better. I'll have to toy around with the tensions a bit. I think 58 was a little high. I also have some other strings to try as crosses. Guess I need to order a couple more sets of BA to toy with.

Good feedback chris. I've not hit with the maxim but have heard that it's a bit "crisper" than some other crosses. I like a softer cross. If you order up more supex, you might throw in a pack of their titan syn gut in 1.30, it's soft and cheap at $3 and it works quite well with the BA. I'm with you though, I like the hybrid better as well.
