projected year-end rankings for 2009

with so much change and new faces coming about in both the ATP and WTA rankings right now i decided to put out by own rankings for next year's rankings after everything has gone back to normal

ATP:

1. Rafael Nadal(big lead on everyone wins at least 2 grand slams)
2. Novak Djokovic(another grand slam maybe US Open)
3. Roger Federer(better season than this year but still not that great)
4. Nikolay Davydenko(consistent as always maybe a MS win and GS semi)
5. Andy Murray(breakthrough year grand slam final)
6.David Ferrer(good year maybe 3 or 4 titles at relatively small events)
7.Fernando Verdasco(a couple GS qtrs. and consistent results)
8.Jo-Wilfried Tsonga(comes back from injury no GS final but good year overall)
9.Andy Roddick(big let down nothing spectacular)
10.Ernest Gulbis(becomes the top 10 player that everyone says he can be)

for good measure lets throw in some ppl that could be in there as well (Wawrinka, Blake,Youzhny Berdych,Gasquet)

WTA:
1. Ana Ivanovic(another GS and a good but not great lead over rest of field)
2.Serena Williams( wins a slam other than AO)
3.Maria Sharapova(recovers from the yips and shoulder injuries, consistent)
4.Venus Williams(another Wimby title, maybe a final somewhere else)
5.Jelena Jankovic(consistent no slam win yet maybe final)
6. Dinara Safina(keeps rising )
7.Svetlana Kuznetsova(likeable girl just a head case)
8.Elena Dementieva(good year could be better with a better serve)
9.Nicola Vaidisova(bounces back from a sub - par year )
10.Victoria Azarenka(first top ten apperance good results)

othere that could be thrown in(Radwanska,Hantuchova,Szavay,Zvonareva,Bartoli)

Serena and Venus dont play enough tennis to be ranked that high on the computer. With their limited schedule, and the ridiculous WTA ranking system which rewards quantity over quality, a Williams would probably have to win 2 slams and dominate when they play just to reach the top 4.

imo nadal will not be able to defend all his points from the clay/grass season next year and will fall loads

Tbh apart from tsonga and gulbis your atp prediction is just about right for this year

i can see him slipping a little on the grass but then again he won wimbledon and thats no fluke but def. not on clay he's the most dominant clay courter since i dont know when! what does imo mean

imo means in my opinion. I don't think Verdasco is mentally tough enough or consistent enough to make the top 10, and I think Gasquet will be in the top 10 next year. I would also move Murray up to number 4 ahead of Davydenko.

verdasco will never be a top 10 player.

Verdasco is ranked #12 and he was ranked #11 last week. He might be Top10 by the end of the year.

well i'm going to be honest, i didn't know that. but i'm very confident in his inconsistency and if he does breakthrough, he won't be there very long. i just don't believe in him.
