Prolong the use of Prince Syn.Gut 18g on Head Prestige Classic Mid..comment pls

Alex

Semi-Pro
I'm thinking of using luxilon BB Alu-Power 16L or Wilson Enduro Tour 17 as crosses and Prince Syn.Gut 18g as mains.

With this setup, i'm hoping to reduce movement of the 18g string and possible to prolong the use of Prince Syn. Gut 18g on Head Prestige Classic Mid?

Any comment ...

As much as I like PSG w/Duraflex, the 18 gauge version has almost no durability. Your combination will pop in short order, especially if you hit with a lot of topspin and slice.

This is a dense patterned racquet and you might want to try the ALU in the mains and PSG/D 18g in the crosses. The PSG/D may break first, but the playability of the ALU will probably have dropped by that point anyway since it's so tension sensitive.

I agree with David on this. Whatever extra spin potential you might get from the 18g is almost immediately taken away from the tension drop that you get after playing with it a few minutes. And, by the time you've actually gotten used to that tension, the string will snap on a hard hit return.

For myself, I never go any thinner than 17 gauge, unless it's some sort of Aramid or Polyester string.

Hi David... Thanks for the input. I like the feeling of the 18g PSG but, as you said the durability is a bad. I agree.

I hit mainly flat w/ slight topspin. I think probably sacrify a little spin and used 17g for some durability.

Hi Gaines Hillix .. thanks for advice. I will proably give it a try by switching the string around with ALU manis and PSG crosses.

Thanks Jon ... will probably try syn.gut 17g for some increase durability.
