Nobody cares about the title. It's just annoying that he wasted so much time and energy to beat Medvedev and Tsitsipas, and all that was for NOTHING. The scheduling was terrible as well. Zverev-Medvedev should have been the first match today, so then Nadal would know he shouldn't try against Tsitsipas.

I'm annoyed because I wanted to see Fedal. Just like I wanted to see Djokerer yesterday. Now we have a bunch of next gen mugs who can't do **** at slams and fed.
edit-and u can say "win all of your matches" yeah yeah. Guess what? Nobody in the tournament did to make the semis. 5 people won 2 matches. 1 of them got eliminated...

I also prefer Fedal over Generation useless, however, if Nadal fails to advance it is what it is. On the other hand, it is not that Federer against Nadal on indoor hard typically gives us great matches. It is generally lopsided as their matches on clay.

Medvedev did excellently indeed to win 10 of 23 games despite not trying. If he had tried, he would likely have whitewashed Zverev 6-0 6-0, just as Nadal did the other day. Poor old Zverev really isn't up to it in this event, is he?

Federer was the second best in his group. Nadal wasn't in his. It's that simple. Same for Zverev.
In Nadal's group there were 3 guys with equal chances to qualify. Just deal with the fact that Nadal came in last and move on. It's not some unfairness involved.

I think it is great Rafa not playing more!
These courts so bad for his knees.
Who knows, maybe this would make him be better prepared for AO. For once Rafa doesn’t have to heal his knees for a month before preparing.
Nadal owns all three as the h2h before this event started shows
Leading 4-1 h2h against Tsitsipas.
Leading 5-0 h2h against Zverev.
Leading 2-0 h2h against Medvedev.
Between them they had played Nadal 12 times managing only one win in total. If that's not a rigged draw to help Nadal I don't what is.

He is not winning AO anyway. I'm surprised you are still optimistic about his chances after all these years of suffering there. And for sure 1 or 2 more matches wouldn't change anything.

You make a good point that it sucks for Nadal but the rules are the same for everyone. Nadal played bad the first game and was not that much better the 2nd game. Injured or not he was not the best out of this pool.

lets face it nadal wasn't going to beat federer in the semis in this exho. in some regards this is a blessing in disguise, win a few matches against next gen, get end year no.1 and build for next year

Zverev destroyed Nadal. Federer destroyed Djokovic.
Nadal GOT destroyed by Zverev and got lucky that Medvedev choked and then won a hard fought match against Tsisitpas.
Zverev and Federer were clearly better.

You know, the biggest tourney in the world called the World Cup... World Series... Stanley cup... the Masters... Many sports have champions losing in tourneys. When you have the top 8 in a tourney I think it is acceptable to have a loss.
Same logic can apply to Zverev. If Nadal played first and lost, Zverev didn't have to put up a show either. So, it's all fair and square. I hate Zverev and Mevedev but your fanboy mentality is blinding you.

No! Did Nadal straight setted anyone in the tournament? Because number of sets/games was the deciding criteria in a three-way draw. It was a rule stablished before the tournament, actually, way before Nadal even playing this. He can't complain about that.
