This is nothing but my curiosity regarding pros’ grip sizes.

One of the recent posts suggests Fernando Gonzalez uses Babolat Pure Control Plus. The grip size is 4 3/8 inches with a layer of Tournagrip. Some previous posts indicate Andy Roddick uses 4 ½ grip with an overgrip, while Gustavo Kuerten prefers 4 3/8 grip (or less). What about other male players like Federer, Agassi, Hewitt, Safin, Gaudio and Coria? Also, what about female pros?

My understanding is the pros, male in particular, tend to go with smaller grip sizes to ease grip change between shots. Smaller grips also allows them to snap the wrist easily while serving.

The topic must have been discussed before but I couldn’t find it. Can anyone provide me a list of pros’ grip size and give me your opinion?

Well I had chance to hold some of pro's racquets at Legg Mason. Kafelinkov had a really big grip especially bottom of the grip near the cap was huge . it looked bigger than 4 5/8 to me also Noam Okun had a really small grip it was about 4 1/4, he was cramping towards the end of the match and threw down his racquet so i had to pick up the racquet for him, thats how i know. When I was at Us open hewitt's grip size just looked to be about 4 3/8 it wasnt that big at all. When I was looking at roddick's racquet real close at practice court it was defintely bigger than 4 3/8 I would say its about 4 1/2 and he had lead tape on 3 and 9 o clock position. Corretja was using 4 3/8 . Arnaud Clement is 4 3/8 for sure because when he was at practice court when there was no one there I asked him what kind of racquet is that even i knew it was I Prestige XL , I didnt have anything else to start the conversation with , so i asked that. Then he gave me his racquet to look at , he didnt even say what racquet it was when I saw the racquet it was 4 3/8 he also had some lead tape on 3 and 9 position. So i think its really up to their prefernce just like us. Cause Okun is a big guy and he was using a real small grip and on the other size kafelinkov was using a huge grip. But other pros about Clement was Hewitt size , most of them were using 4 3/8 just like their size,

Wow, many are quite far off on what they are saying here...Okun, he has a tiny grip, because he has a stock 3/8 and just wraps on an overgrip or two. Hewitt last I had a frame of his in my paws, was a 1/2. Coria is a 3/8, Anna K is just a wee tiny 1/4. There are a few other errors in those above posts, but I'm just not going to correct

......Thanks for speaking up, Tom....I agree !! I also think Serena uses a SMALL grip...and that Venus DOES use a 4 5/8.....I'm done.....

Dude he had a tiny grip when he was playing at legg mason two years ago
i got to hold of the racquet i use 4 3/8 but it was even smaller than that . I dont know what you are talking about man, and i have gonzalez's racquet and some of them are guessing because i didnt actually look under the thing to check how big it is im just saying from how it felt, so yea im sure there are some couple errors

That famous racquet shop in NYC had specs posted for many of the ATP players. Most of them, even the big guys, used relatively small grips. Hardly any of them use a 4 5/8 or larger. I'm not very big and I use a 4 5/8, so I figure most of them go small for more wrist action on their serves.
