Pro's Grip Sizes?

It seems they all use smaller grip sizes.
My question is What are the advantages and Disadvantages of playing with a smaller Grip?

In my opinion,
It is easier to change from one hand backhand to a forehand with a smaller grip.

I read somewhere that a larger grip could increase the control.

I've heard that the small grips allow to have more wrist snapping, so you can get more power. But it can also hurt your wrist. Big grips on the other side allow better control.

I feel with a smaller grip the racquet feels more head light, easier to move.
Personally I feel better with a small grip, it gives me more confidence to snap my wrist on serves and more control on ground strokes.

i heard playing with a smaller than your normal grip may benefit your serve but not your strokes, since one have to grip the racquet harder.

Smaller than norm grip size - more wrist action. Personally I prefer larger gripsize i.e. 4 1/2 " to minimized wrist movement, and hence less error.

I have farily small hands, and should be using a 4 3/8 grip. But I prefer a larger grip. Iuse a 4 5/8 grip and then add tournagrip. I feel I have more feel/control of the racquet. However, I agree that a smaller grip could give you more power.

Does anyone know why that players who use a one-handed backhand appear to use a larger grip for example James Blake and Tommy Haas?

I was amazed to find out that Federer uses a 4 3/8 grip. This is the grip size that i use! Mabey I should try using a 4 1/8 grip from now on and see how it goes...

bee65n, how did you find out Federer's grip size? Just curious to know...

I also feel that the extra wrist snap gives more spin, I know that Moya uses a smaller grip and I think that might be why.

I didn't know you knew i was a United fan :D

Can't wait mate, you've gotta be favourites though, £88m spent and we've got no strikers fit!

Yep you told me when I was adding my comments on Chelsea and their Champions League run last year.

It will be interesting to see how Chelsea perform with all their new players that Roman wasted his pocket money on. I bet your strikers (The ones you got left) are quaking in their boots of Ferreira!!!
