Why is it considered a players racquet if its so stiff? That depends on which 6.1 95 you’re asking about. The ProStaff 6.1 (Classic) is stiffer that any other version, but all generations of the 6.1 have slightly varying stiffnesses.
Not sure if other people will agree with this, but in the case of a racquet like the 6.1 Classic there's the question of measurable stiffness VS 'feel'. While it's a stiffer racquet even by today's standards (it was what, a 70 RA?) the fact that it's made primarily of graphite (along with the shape and dimensions of the beam) gives it a more compliant flex profile than say something from the modern area with a more, hmmm...creative...construction in terms of frame shape and materials. A stiffer graphite racquet will feel 'crisp' rather than the tinny, cheap-feeling characteristics most modern stiff racquets have. Why is it considered a players racquet if its so stiff?
I played with a 6.1 classic, i wasnt very consistent with it. Didnt feel like you could swing freely with it, especially compared to my current stick. Not sure if other people will agree with this, but in the case of a racquet like the 6.1 Classic there's the question of measurable stiffness VS 'feel'. nice oberservation, i will tend to agree with that given my loyalty to the 6.1Not sure if other people will agree with this, but in the case of a racquet like the 6.1 Classic there's the question of measurable stiffness VS 'feel'. old player's frames can have stiff layups, it's just due to the materials usedWhy is it considered a players racquet if its so stiff?
agreed, much stiffer than most wilson framesRF97 is a stiff racket.
I'm not familiar with H19 or H22 but have read that a lot of people think they are great. How does the 6.1 compare to these pro stocks?
I’ve never hit a Wilson pro stock but it’s neat that the 6.1 is itself a pro stock. Especially the 6.1 Classic and HPS.
Oh yeah? But aren't all pro stocks made differently? Even though the 6.1 is on tour and not just a cover up, isn't the players racquet made with better quality materials?

What would you do if you found a 6.1 with this paint being sold at your shop?
There is literally one set of replacement grommets for the blx3 on the big auction site right now (starts with 'eb', ends with 'ay.' not my auction).take it on safari ??? not a fan: but you know, new paint is how they sell these things......
and yes 10000 times...pls..pls Wilson bring back the 6.1 16x18...mine are all wearing out and I can't find parallel drilled grommets for the blx3 (and last 16x18).
any of you guys find anything in a racquet that has the 6.1 feel (16x18..or close) ? ( the RF I don't like as much as 6.1...so that's out)
I do not think you can generalize like that. But I am pretty sure they are higher in quality control (more uniform specs), and that they are normally free of any "gizmo technology" that could be on newer retail rackets, including changing weight distributions.Oh yeah? Perhaps 18/20 could give you a bit more consistancy?the 6.1 can feel inconsistent sometimes.....but I feel that's on the player....when I'm firing well on timing and rhs ....this racquet rewards....its when my fitness and my strokes are off balance or weak...that this racquet punishes you.....rightfully so

That one, not so much ... I'd gladly pick up one of the Kohlschreiber's Pro Staff paint job 6.1 rackets though. What would you do if you found a 6.1 with this paint being sold at your shop?
I disagree that should always be the case. Often pro stocks are basically an older retail model painted as a newer one.If the pros shoes are made different with better materials, I am certain their racquets are not of the same material as retail.

I've stockpiled some 6.1s ... hopefully they'll last a while.
Digging up this thread because we just had a battle of the 6.1s: Opelka d. Bautista-Agut at the 2021 Canadian Open QFs.
which means, amusingly, somewhere out there Wilson is still making a 16x18 6.1 95 and grommets for it.B-A using the 18x20 and ServeBot swinging the 16x18

edit: and in an alternate universe, Opelka wins multiple GS, becomes an ATG ... and we get a 6.1 95 widely released as the Opelka 95 Autograph that Delpo wasn't healthy enough to deliver, and aspiring weekend hackers the world over clamor for a taste of Thor's hammer.
Call me crazy but I thought I saw a familiar shape at a WTA match and did some googling. Could that be what I think it is?
Reminds me that the last time I heard of it, Andrea Petkovic was playing with a 6.1 Team. A 6 string bridge with 18 mains is not that common nowadays.Call me crazy but I thought I saw a familiar shape at a WTA match and did some googling. Could that be what I think it is?
man...... i loved this nike lookBrendan Evans
jabeurMaybe an odd place to note this but Siniakova took down the reigning Wimbledon champ Rybakina 6-7 7-6 6-4 to win the Slovenia Open, a day after playing 2 matches on Saturday due to rain delays. She's also won 3 of 4 Grand Slam doubles titles this year, all with some flavor of 6.1 in hand.
I just find it such an curious choice for a WTA player ... I don't think anyone else uses a racquet that small.
Great performance by Sini. She absorbed the pace from rybakina and then hit a few of her own.Maybe an odd place to note this but Siniakova took down the reigning Wimbledon champ Rybakina 6-7 7-6 6-4 to win the Slovenia Open, a day after playing 2 matches on Saturday due to rain delays. noticed that as well! that vid wimby posted was awesomeIrakli Labadze used a lovely PSC 6.1 when losing to Fed (using a PS85) in the 1998 Wimbledon boys. Those were the days!
good question, havent much dove into the wta arena of the 6.1 - could be a fun project when i revisit the ATP listNicole Provis 1994 vs Steffi. PSC 6.1 16x18, or is it one of the other 5.9 / 7.2 versions?
It's supposed to be the HPS version I think, so 10% 'hyper-carbon' and 90% graphite-kevlar, so I guess quite stiff?Curious if anyone has ordered one of these wilson pro labs 6.1 frames and tested it against an old 18x20. Any thoughts on the layup/feel?
does it break out the layup on the specs? interesting....It's supposed to be the HPS version I think, so 10% 'hyper-carbon' and 90% graphite-kevlar, so I guess quite stiff?
you’re right, she’s using a normal PS, i’m thinking of the chinese player with the 95that a PS97 spin pattern last I looked
