Just have to smile at what an epic thread Gino opened back then.I was one of the first ones to add a player eight years ago. What a drama has emerged from this?I never watched Jiri Lehecka until today.Quite impressive what this sword can do.

Hard Hitter(in fact one of the hardest forehands ever) and Grand Slam Cup Champion Magnus Larsson used a 6.1 Classic

Former No.4

I thank you my friend for your interest and contributing, pretty much since the thread started !! Appreciate you ! Lehecka has exceptional talent, the perfect modern 6.1 player the way his mechanics work through the contact zone. Relatively flat / penetrating groundies that can push the best defenders on tour, I wish him great success

@gino
I like what you are doing with with the list, I had previously thought about different ways it could be organized. Totally up to you, I don't mean to create work for you, its a great thread as-is

  • Sorting by career highest rank is the easiest way I could think to float the names people know to the top. The question then would be is the ranking listed their highest with the 6.1 or personal best. Maybe color could indicate when the career high was achieved with a 6.1

  • My most far fetched idea is to have a total prize money won with a 6.1 - if we had a confirmed date range a player used the 6.1 then sum the prizes of those tournaments. Easy for someone who never switched, the ones who did would be horrendous. With just Corretja, del Potro, Lindstedt, Nestor, Bjorkman and Mirnyi the sum is $68.5 million.
I think I'm going to run through Junior slams, would you like a list of the juniors I can find that won with a 6.1?

Whenever we mention the origins of this thread I have to shout out @moon shot for all the great enhancement ideas & @Seth for all the incredible contribution

Documenting legendary frame history as accurately as possible is what the boards were originally intended for… something @dr325i & @vsbabolat have been doing for many years. Happy to have some informative contributions laying around this pocket of the internet

Im still holding onto my 6.1s but getting heavier as I age
Almost got excited when I saw the Ultra 97 but its too soft
& needs Blade v8 head beam all the way through no PWS,
base weight 300 g and chrome black/red duco.

Blade Pro (305g) worth a look, also Prestige Tour is more of a 6.1 style frame but lighter at 315g - and hypothetically the upcoming PS-esque frame from Wilson which ranges in weight from 320g down

250 semi for the 6.1 this week, great news, even if in the hands of polarizing/oft-injured Opelka

don't think I saw this in the thread yet, but just came across this...Bernie wielding N6.1 95
Weird for some reason I always thought he was an n90 guy as a junior before the head switch. Thanks for the addition!

Poor Bernie, that’s from back when he was killing it in the juniors & said that he’d win every major before he was 21.

lol i remember those days, although he did warrant some hype. I believe he won the orange bowl in 3 times in 12s/14s/16s and then the two junior majors

then hilariously only makes on major QF for his career, wild

Kolly I recall used 18x20 most of his career, then I thought a redrilled 16x19
Kohlschreiber1.jpg

Willy really scored well with the 6.1, it has the power close to VS 98 range
and spin of the 16x18 is probably very close to it as well, just less control
from the pattern but helped here by the smaller head size?

There was also one of the fastest serves ever by Taylor Dent who is not listed on this thread?

I just sense an almost identical RF97-16x19 pattern would shine on a revamped 6.1,
no PWS, Blade v8/9 hoop shape right through, stiff hoop x flexible shaft like Dunlop CX.

6.1 have been what the Blade is now on the tour. Yet deserves another go to give those
players who want that little bit extra control and Maneuverability, finally a better alternative
to what Head has done for Novak except lighter, more pop, spin and similar silky feel.

On a side note, was Fed imitating Agassi as a joke ? he looks very old too.
its a first for me to see him as the usual ugly 70s/80s soft rocker/head banger
was he wearing jean material shorts too?

You’re prob right on the 16x19, many of us probably counted the mains and stopped there

In regards to Dent, see below, he used the pro staff 7.1 zone mold

Almost right. Taylor's racquets are made using the PS Zone 7.1 mold, but the weight, balance, flex, and swingweight are way off of the PSZ 7.1.

As of about a year ago, Dent's racquet specs were:

387 grams mass
32.5 cm balance
400 kg x cm2 swing weight

FWIW, they play beautifully.

I have never strung his racquets, but I took my scale, balance, and swingweight tester to the courts one day, and asked if I could borrow one of his racquets for a few minutes to get the measurements. I wasn't able to get the flex on it, but from hitting with it for about fifteen minutes, it seemed to be no stiffer than the Wilson HPS Zone 7.1, which is to say that my guestimate would be that it is about a 58 or lower on the Babolat RDC flex scale.

The balance is still head light (the racquet is 68.58 cm long). If you just look at the specs, it does seem like a club, but it felt very impressive. At the time, I was using a racquet weighing 408 grams, 27.8 cm balance, with a swingweight of 325 kg x cm2, so the weight felt fine, and I just had to get used to the difference in balance.
