Old pics of Ferrer using the 6.1 never cease to amaze me:

Does anyone know if any of the 6.1s have been modded by any players such as making it more head light?

I would think some doubles players like Nestor. Others as well if you consider adding leather.

Reason I asked cause I see its so popular but I wonder if they all love it in stock or simply stuck with the racquet because of familiarity and changed things around.

I would think it is common to match the racquets, while that isn’t stock it wouldn’t need to be far from it. So even if they are near stock it’d have minute variations

Players like del Potro, Magnus Norman and Pospisil play with lead at 3&9 so they are visibly customized. I would think most pro players are around 345-355 swingweight at least so most retail versions of the 6.1 would take some lead to get there.

sorry for the repeat posts; it was not showing up after I hit "post"
lol reminds me of repeatedly clicking Internet Explorer thinking the computer was somehow not getting my command and then getting like 30 tabs opened at once

Also, a doubles match with all six.one 95 (except for technically Murray who is using it without PWS under a Slazenger paint job).

Babolats?

You mean like a Pure Drive? Assuming you mean the actual design itself is the new technology VS the composition, the PD came out in 1994. So, basically a 25 year old design using 35 year old materials unless they had HM at the time(which they well could have, I haven't bothered to see when the thermal processes changed).
I think it can maybe be argued that HM graphite allowed a bit more options with design, but only just.

I agree with you conclusion.
HM & UHM graphite production spread to consumer markets in the early 1990s.
As the tech was refined racket weights on average went down as light pick up weight was pushed on the market.
Babolat frames were refinements of earlier PK widebody designs, which combines oval and aero wing construction {Destiny }. Prince CTS & other variations on Kuebler design
Outside of moving mass & ported frames, not much changes in design at all.

Exactly. And ported frames didn't help Prince all that much. What helps is having sponsorship(marketing) of players people want to be like. Bryan Brothers? What teenager aspires to being a doubles champion? Rafa? That's something different. I mean, how many kids on these boards are using an APD and poly, yet haven't anywhere near the strokes to take advantage of the set up. I would argue it's most of them, if not nearly all of them. I had a kid at the club lift my H19/IGMP clone(a Dunlop BioMiMetic 300 Tour) and said, "How can you play with something so old and heavy?". It's 5 years old and weighs 12.5 ounces. The specs and design are 30 years old. If they could swing that fairly flexy stick, they would be blowing away all the other teens on the court with APD's. Most of the pros using APD's are using a far lower flex and far heavier version than what these kids will ever use. Most of the ProStock APD's I have seen for sale are 62-64RA, and 12 ounces plus. Know what that is? Basically the same racquet most other pros are swinging, regardless of brand. At the end of the day, most all pros are nearly using the same racquet, and could do what they do with about any racquet available. The rest is smoke and mirrors.

Prince ported rackets suffered from the learning curve needed to string them. Any frame that hits the market that are a challenge to string tends to have trouble getting traction in the market. Mad Raq;Wilson Rollers' Blackburnes all suffered the same resistance.

It’s awesome to see the 6.1 has a good future with Edmund. I wasn’t convinced by him a couple of years ago but he’s proved me wrong and is devolving into a really good player. Hopefully he can add his name to the list of 6.1 users that have won a major.

Only two singles players to date :(
