Pro's Pro Strings!?

Has anyone had experience with returning Pro's Pro products? Been having some issue with Claycourt+.

Took it to my stringer and the string just snapped on him twice. Now he wouldn't work on this string anymore.

I need to think what to do with an almost brand new reel...anyone care for an exchange? I contacted the customer service but the return policy says only unaltered return within 7 days can receive a refund. Which mine doesn't meet either criteria.

I had this issue with this string myself (a couple years back),
it also was a clients racquet and it broke on me 3x while doing the mains
I also called the client and told him I would not string it anymore

what tension where you trying to string it at?

55 lbs. I asked one for main another for cross.
yeah that's what I thought, nothing crazy, or high tension
problem is the fibers inside the string have dried out, and are now weak,, no indication of when its going to snap

going lower in tension could help,
pulling speed on machine could help,,

but one simply cannot know!!??!!,, and trying it out represents time for the stringer

All right - if you trust the stringer, then the string is probably broken - so you lost some money.
Would therefore switch to a branded product....

Ok. So I guess I am defeated if this is the norm for non-branded product.

I mean I didn't have this problem with Hex Multi. And Hex Multi felt very soft too. It was too muted for my taste hence why I went with ClayCourt+ this time around.

question - with the string drying out, what is the preferred way to store the strings. set vs reel of different types of the strings?

Had problems with claycourt+ as well. Strung It 53 full, and player snap It in less than half hour.
Don't think it's expiring problem. It"s just a delicate string, but with very nice playbility.
I'll continue tu use It on the 50 range with pre-stretch 10% + slow pulling, for softer hitters, or stick to crosses on hybrid setups.

cool dry place, out of the direct sun light, where weather changes are not big
in the east coast where I live, the garage is just as bad as the trunk of your car, or almost as bad, cold in the winter, hot in the summer, etc,,
inside the house where the temperature stays pretty constant is good
some strings do better, like polys and synthetic gut strings
gut, multis don't handle weather changes as well,,

Anyone willing to trade/send me some red devil? A friend's been dealing with some arm issues and I wanna try it out as a cross since I always see people saying its pretty soft at a budget.

I can pay for the shipping and I can offer any combo of (or just 40 ft of) hexaspin twist, intense heat, prince classic syn gut, or Wilson extreme syn gut.

Personally a fan of the hexaspin twist mains intense heat crosses at 44/42 (in summer) or 40/38 (in cooler weather)

Yeah I'm interested in trying out some strings, I have red devil 1.14mm and blackout 1.24mm

Has anyone tried the Eruption black?

I have strung up a couple of Angells with fb of Eruption green 1.18 at low tension and it felt amazing.
Just wanted to know if the black colour plays the same, so I can at least have options other than green colour.

Also, the 1.19 RD is also pretty sweet as fb at low tension too. Is there anything else in the PP range that is similar to the RD but in different colour(s)? Lol

Thanks.

I am considering blackout mains / devil crosses.

Have you tried blackout 1.24mm as mains, devil 1.14mm as crosses?
or would you use thicker devil to match the mains (1.24mm is already blackout's thinnest).

Haven't tried the combo myself, but if you search "red devil crosses" it looks like a few people have and don't love the result and preferred a fan of either over the combo.

If you try it out report back in though!

I'm all out of RD 1.19. It does everything well except for spin when used as a main in a hybrid. For crosses it is a very good choice. It gives a neutral feel and is very slippery and has good elasticity. I have also had a reel of the 1.24 and it notches much more easily than the 1.19. It's so cheap for a reel, it's worth the risk. I think you'll like it.

Anyone tried Gutex or Clay Court Plus (using it on hard courts). I'm experimenting with softer strings. Thanks I have some 1.24 Blackout and 1.14 Red Devil if anyone wants to trade and try out different strings thx

I am keen to change out the fb of Bab Addition 16 (multi) on a Babolat Pure Aero Tour 2016 to either RD 1.19 or Eruption 1.18. The Addiction 16 was initially strung at 48lb and it was kinda nice to hit with it, it is in the low 40’s atm I think.

So with either the RD or Eruption, what tension should I give it a go? Should I bother with them say at 30lb/28lb or lower, being a stiff racquet and poly string setup?

I have been playing with 33lb/31lb on other racquets with RA in the range of 63 and 64 (unstrung), so I am keen to try on the PAT... lol
Should I bother?

Probably wanna be careful if you find someone who has cc+ with how they ship it. I've seen a couple people post about how it dries out if not kept well.

I've been using hexaspin twist 1.25 x intense heat 1.25 for a while now and like it well enough but wanted to try out some other setups.

I got ahold of some red devil 1.19 and blackout 1.24 since they seem to be most popular, anybody use any hybrids of any of those 4?

I was thinking blackout as the main with RD crosses, but despite being thinner it seems much less slick than intense heat.

Has anyone tried either setup or have anything else I should try?

I'm using kevlar mains, what's hexaspin twist supposed to feel like, a multi poly string. And intense heat?

In my opinion blackout is pretty soft compared to red devil, thought red devil had more pop but it's so subjective from person to person. BigT reviewers may help with some input.

Hexaspin twist is a twisted, shaped poly. Never tried it full bed but in the hybrid it's got good spin potential for the cost at lower tensions.

Intense heat is a "soft" smooth round poly. Soft as in it provides a lot of pop and a bit of pocketing (especially at lower tensions). Being smooth and rounded allows the hexaspin to snap back well (snapback = how polys spin the ball). It is also "hard" in terms of the mechanical property and will notch the ht before the reverse happens. This is good because it continues to allow the ht to slide and snapback rather than locking it in place.

Overall a decent spin setup for my Topspin game. It has enough control for my volleys, but there's more of a focus on the softer cross to add extra depth on shots and pop on the serve. Higher tensions keep the spin but the pop isn't quite there and more power will have to be provided either from racquet weight (mine is quite light even with lead tape) or very high swing rate and solid contact.

Well, decided to go ahead and try the
BO1.24 x RD1.14

I've read that RD is pretty soft so I went slightly higher tension @44x42.

Impressions while stringing:
Both BO and RD are "soft" in the tensile tennis sense than HT or IH so I'm expecting a bit more power, but some of this may just be that HT is twisted and IH is 1.25. Neither string seems as slick as the IH and both are moreso than the HT; hopefully since both seem semislick and the RD is so small it'll get as good or better snapback/spin.

Expecting this setup to bag out quickly if I don't break the RD, if it doesn't last a week of daily play it's not worth the investment for me personally.

Feels lighter in the racquet, I like the slightly more HL feel.

Last concern is that the RD will notch first which would lead to both fast breaking and locking slowing snapback.

Will report back.

honestly the only crosses that don't last long for me are multi. I never break poly cross. Poly mains I break in a 4 hours or less, it's why I use kevlar mains.

What's the the best Pros pro multi?

Anyone interesting in exchanging or buying a reel of ClayCourt+ from me? Albeit, it's been used for an equivalent of a full bed job, the rest of the reel is untouched.

quick q - re: Eruption 1.18, how many hours does it usually last?
I have it in my usual racquet and it has about 8 hours on it already. This being my first fb of poly in over 10 year, I do not know how to tell it I should change it. It still plays alright and according to StringMeter, the tension hasn’t really changed much from the 8th cross down.
Any suggestions/ideas welcomed. Thanks

For all:

What is the best Pros Pro poly in terms of both durability and playability..? Both in a round and profile string.

I have read back through the thread and found that the consensus is that Pros Pro Concept is the best for durability/playability. Has there been any change or addition to this consensus...?

I have some strong juniors/college players I string for, --> one in particular a very powerful, wristy player, tough on string, can go through a set of 1.27 Lux Alu Power Spin in anywhere from 30min-2hrs (and rarely above this)... yet, the same player took 11+hrs to break a set of Pros Pro 1.30 Hex Power that I asked him to trial for me, and he couldnt really feel a massive difference in term of string performance in the initial 2-3 hours. Other players I will a use an Isospeed 1.35 Long Life Baseline to up the playing hrs which has been very handy for their training months where durability is paramount.

Other opinions on Pros Pro poly - both round and profiled - that would give the same durability/playability as PP Hex Power/PP Concept/ISO Baseline Longlife would be very welcome. Was very surprised with the durability of HexPower.

Also, are there any ProsPro Multifilament that would compare well to Wilson Sensation...?

Really depends on what you consider playable. Using a low tension combo of hexaspin twist 1.25 x intense heat 1.25 I played one till breaking just to see how long it would last and it didn't break till almost 4 weeks of playing daily. But I definitely didn't still have the playing characteristics I like from the combo, usually I switch it out every 10days to 2 weeks per racquet. Does he break the lux or just not like the change in playability?

Anyway I like that combo, I've also tried BO1.24xRD1.14 didn't last nearly as long though and I didn't get as much power as I wanted from the crosses, but it broke before it changed a ton.

So you just want it to last in the racquet and he'll adjust as it does, or is the goal to get something that doesn't really bag out? Because if the latter is say pp lasts about as long as any mainline string ime.

Cheers. Big, big fan of the 1.24 Red Devil here - a unique poly string, allows for some interesting mix options.

Yeah, he breaks the Lux, that particular 1.27 Alu Power Spin just cuts thru itself when strung at 24kgs. Needs to be strung with some multi or a gut or some round poly to make it worth the purchase.

Definitely durability is more a focus than playability. Want to get the best idea of what to try on the next box of PP string I purchase. Will likely get a reel of concept to check it out plus some others recommended here.

Yeah I can say as a fairly big hitter (over 100 mph serve but more moderate spinny groundstrokes) with heavyish topspin I like the hexaspin x intense heat and it takes quite a while to break. If you shoot me a dm of your address I can send you 20' of each to test it out

Many thanks again - I actually have some Black 1.30 Intense Heat and some 1.30 Orange Hexaspin (not Hexaspin twist) from last purchase, though I have not used the blend you have recommended as yet. It is the next mix on the machine. If i can ask what tension you have this mix in at to gain the longevity...? I find with a full set of Intense heat it just cuts into one another like butter anywhere from 50-53lbs.

Agree on the Red Devil 1.24. Moved from the 1.19 to the 1.24 for that little extra bit of durability. Such a good string. They stood up in my Wilson Steam 99S racquets and are great in the Yonex VCP97 310 that I switched too. I string both mains and crosses at 45 pounds.

Anyone hás any ideia why the Vendetta was discontinued by Pro's Pro?
The string was Very popular among young hitters as budget option.
Now there is the Nano Vendetta but doesn't have the same success

with pros pro, you get what you get IMO,, I dont think they have/care too much about consistency
I also think they rebrand their old inventory to keep it fresh, but in reality its old stuff with new lable
cant ask too much when the reel is $30!!??
if you want consistency only, the name brand stuff for $120/reel would be the thing to do

How do they play differently in a blind test? I ve understood that the newer nano version is actually the the former original vendetta. The vendetta after 2015 ought te be the newer improved vendetta to make things complicated. However i have no experience with these strings because i m still confused.

How they play different? I don't know :) . Never tryed them. But I will try the original red Vendetta soon. Even here on TTW there are threads talking about the red Vendetta.
But know several players that used red Vendetta quite intensly some years ago.
