Pro's Pro Strings!?

Very much the same feeling. Depending on the frame and gauge but maybe (do not know all gauges of these) and liking all I would say

Black force 1.14
Eruption 1.18
Eruption 1.24
Red Devil 1.24
Blackout 1.28

in the last months also tested hexPower and cyclone power, both 1.18 or 1.20, excellent. Actually prefer hexPower (think it is gone from the product range offer) over the eruption as it is a little firmer (not stiff) and gives more spin with clearer edges (kind of more xperience than eruption).
Cyclone power si awesome and I like firestorm as well. Have now one pair of identical frames strung with each and will compare directly…

I have tried both but never side by side and never in the same gauge so I never ventured into making comparisons. But as far as looks are concerned they could perfectly be the same string

Let us know!

Will share my thoughts...

Forgot to mention I have tested Hexaspin 1.20 (orange) and being not a bad string for me it is a little firm, have to lower even more tension. Not very powerful string, so ok. Spin good, not super mega bite but nice.

Hi, need to update and or complete a little my list of tested or better said really used strings.

Black force 1.14
Eruption 1.18 (green)
Eruption 1.24 (green, i like the black as well but frankly think it is a totally different string jaja)
Red Devil 1.24
Blackout 1.28
Hexaspin 1.20
HexPower 1.18
Cyclone Power 1.20
synthetic 1.30 (green)

want to try
blackout 1.24

In general, I am in phases with the order or ranking. I am playing now with a rather comfortable frame and therefore I am not using, even though I like them, Red Devil or Eruption as I think they are quite soft. So I prefer HexPower, a little firmer as compared to Eruption, but Hexpower is gone... I still have but seems finished in ProsPro offer.
Hexaspin did not yet convince me. Need more time and also testing in other frames (this helps me a bit).
Synthetic is nice, totally ok but I am not using it, neither FB nor hybrid.

One update on cyclone power. Have one identical pair of frames and tested yesterday for two hours. Stringer put on one Signum Pro Firestorm 1.20 that he had and on the other the cyclone power. He only told me at the end of the session which frame was strung with cyclone power. Visually I could not distinguish them. Like "them" a lot, and I am not able to tell the difference I must admit. Whatever it means, for me it is a very good string or better said they are good strings :).
Not too soft, not rigid, good spin, some power for sure, can string a little tighter.

if to rank at all, currently my favourites would be (in the gauges I mention above)
1 hexpower, black force, cyclone power
2 eruption
3 red devil
4 hexaspin

Need to test blackout 1.24, a pity for me it is not available in thinner gauge.

Best

I was looking forward to this, thanks I completely agree with your assessment, I strung mine at 23kg and it was noticeably more powerful than other PP polys I’ve tried (concept, red devil, black force).

I used to like the black force a lot, then i got the red devil and liked that one too. then i got the Eruption (which i still call Van Halen) and i won't buy anything else anymore.

Ok. Thank you. I will go a bit lower and try again. Next drop will be to 19kg. May get to test that this weekend and give feedback here
So I have strung plus power at 19kg but once again the weather has conspired against me playing this weekend. Will still report back once I've had a hit. Getting interested in eruption and cyclone power now as well but have plenty strings for now

If Cyclone Power is more powerful do you feel that it’s playability lasts at least as long as RedDevil as well?

I string pros pro hybrid pollyu in mains synthetic gut in cross plays ok. IT is no better or worse then others.I have played with. Basically if you can be honest if your not a pro u are a recreational player imo I find the marketing annoying implying if you use certain eqiptment you will play like a pro. The truth is that is idiototic,

There is a lot written in this thread already you can browse through if you are interested. Otherwise you would need to be more specific in what you want to know

Yes, 74 pages. That's why I'm looking for a synopsis of what they're "about." What are their strengths, their highlights, their niche? What should a new person know?

Again it depends what you are looking for and like to use.

Strengths: cheap, lots of colours, big variety in options, softer in general for poly.

Most liked: seem to be blackout, red devil, black force, concept and recent eruption.

Niche: cheap strings for tennis players with lots of options

Cons: maybe dont hold tension as well and need to be replaced more often than some other brands.

Generally been recommended to try a set before buying a reel to see if you like it

Thank you! Just what I was looking for. Appreciate it.

I just strung up some Intense Heat 1.25 in the crosses on one of my VC98's. Kinda pumped about trying it. I also have Eruption 1.30 and Hexaspin 1.25 to try.

I'm interested to hear how you like it. I've played with intense heat and hexaspin in 1.25. I preferred the hexaspin but the intense heat wasnt bad at lower tensions.

i've kicked the tires on kingut. it is very soft so i only got about 8 hours out of it before it broke but it does well for my wife who has arm and shoulder problems.
I find a similar experience with gutex ultra. Nice for flat hitters who play at medium pace. Topspin breaks it fast. Very comfortable though if you have arm issues

@princemidplus - I sure will. I've been reading really good stuff about the Hexaspin Twist.

Maybe @loosegroove can weigh in, I saw where he tried/liked it back in the olden days when it was $18.00/reel :)

It's been a while since I played with Hexaspin Twist, and I don't think my feedback would be very helpful at this point. I went through a honeymoon period with it and then abruptly moved on, but was recently thinking I should revisit. Want me to send you a set or two @Rabbit? I have a partial reel of 1.30 just waiting to be strung up!

Do you prefer Hexaspin Twist to Hexaspin or Black Out? That is if you have tried the others. Thanks

My reel(s) of Pro's Pro came in yesterday. I received Eruption, Intense Heat & Hexaspin Twist. I strung up the Intense Heat with syngut mains. But thank you very kindly for the offer! If you want to try one of the ones I have I'll be happy to send you a set or two.
BTW - I've got 3 reels in flight, Red Devil, Black Force & Cyclone Power.

I will be interested to hear what combo you like best. I have tried Red Devil, Black Out and Eruption and like them all, but have not found my perfect set up yet. Strings gauges and tensions are close but not quite ideal...yet!

What tensions and racquet are you using for your hybrid setup?

I think Blackout is my favorite of the Pros Pro polys I've tried (Vendetta, Hexaspin Twist, Plus Power, Eruption, Blackout, iSoft). It's the most standard grip and rip shaped poly of the bunch, if that makes any sense. iSoft was the worst string I've ever tried and Vendetta had poor durability and was just meh. The other four had some good things going for them IMHO.

We have liked Black Out too, but like to use a round poly as a cross. Really like Red devil as a cross, may consider plus power or black force as a cross too. For a main I am tempted to try either Strategem or Hexaspin.

Managed to play yesterday with this setup. Worked really well. Much prefer the lower tension with plus power at 19kg. Good spin and comfort. Have to generate own power

It's in my signature:
Yonex VC 98
Gosen OGSM 1.15 @56 Mains
Luxilon TiMO 1.10 @52 Crosses
Was looking more at tensions you using for you pros pro hybrid setup with intense heat crosses. I tend to use 55lb syngut mains and 45lb intense heat crosses. Intense heat feels stiff and board like to me at higher tensions and syn gut stretches a lot that lower tensions tend become a bit too springy

-ive been playing with 2x w.blade.v8s (16/19)
-1 strung with lux.4g.soft @ 51lbs
-1 strung with pp.vendetta (army GREEN) @ 51lbs
-they both look decent (color) on that racquet
-but what surprised me yesterday, was that i was preferring the pp racquet the most!!
-it did not feel better, but it was tighter and thusly gave me more control
-i think i would try the v8s with lux.4g(regular) next time!?!
-but it goes to show you how some polys (regardless of price) tend to work well on different racquets
-pp.vendetta=$5 a set, lux.4g.soft=$20 a set (y)

Regular vendetta or nano?

Regular vendetta or nano?
-just checked, its the regular pp.vendetta (army green color)
-its not one of my favorites, its been in my poly collection box for a few years now
-but it worked well on this racquet
-i think i might drop the tension -1lb next time,
-i had another hitting session with it today, and i needed to work so hard to get depth from my shots
-or maybe i was just tired??!?!
-either way, its a good combo for me!!

You think you will notice a difference by dropping the tension just one pound ? For me it has to be at least a three pound change for me to feel any difference.

I normally drop/raise tension about 4lbs if changing tension. Then can tune a bit from there if better. I cant really tell difference in smaller increments and it will more likely how well I'm playing on the day rather than a difference of a pound or two in tension

Thanks that’s good info. For the first string job I kept everything the same.
