Pro's Pro Strings!?

@Jannick, try full bed Black Out 1.24 mm at low to mid tension (20kg). To me it has always played "thinner" than it is, probably because of its 5 sided shape. It will give you plenty of control, and probably enough depth when strung low. Spin potential will be really a function of your stroke technique.

Who tried the new Pro's Pro Eruption?
What difference with Hex-Power?

Keen to know too. Wonder if Eruption a color update of Blackout?

But then it would have to be called "Greenout", wouldn't it?

And a white version of Blackout would have to be called "Whiteout". Which would be good because it could help you to correct all of your mistakes.

Seriously though, Eruption cannot be Blackout because Eruption is a SIX sided string. Blackout is a FIVE sided string !!!

How does pro's pro strings compare to something like RPM blast in quality ? power, spin ?
not exactly as good in durability
but it is a softer poly, that works well if you can restring yourself, 2 r 3 weeks and it needs to be cutout
it is a $5 set of strings after all
i like the softer feel of these $5 sets of strings and the color options
but there are some duddds, so test yourself before commitiing to a reel, IMO/IME

Pros Pro Black Out 1.24 is better than RPM Blast in every aspect and is about a tenth of the cost.

However, if you are a spin oriented player, you need to restring Black Out after every 2-3 hours of play. (Black Out is ideal if you have four or five racquets. Otherwise, you will be spending a lot of time standing beside your Stringing Machine.)

Tension maintenance and string movement are catastrophic?

Probably depends on the racquet. Open patterns are worse than closed ones.

Never really noticed string movement issues in APDs or the like. Tension drop hits a cliff but that is a good thing because then it's time for a restring.

Not if the 6-8 string is ten (or more) times the cost of the 2-3 string.

IIRC, at one point, we were able to purchase Black Out in 500 metre odd reels for even better value than the standard 200m reels.
Yeah but you need a stringing machine! And lot of time!! :-D

Stringing machine? Yes!. (Pays for itself pretty quickly)

Lots of time? Not really! .... You need a lot of time to take your racquets to a Stringer, get them strung, pick them up, and return home. (In the time it takes me to do that, I can string at least three racquets. No need for a car, or the fuel to run it.)

And nothing! nothing is nicer than a freshly strung racquet.

My stringer is at 5mn by bike from my club/home and he strings the same day... And he is a really great pro.
I'm a lucky guy!!! :p

Do you also find Black out better than Strategem 8? And is Black out the profiled version of Black force as some say, and which is an excellent cross string.

Black Out 1.24mm seems to have much better ball bite that Stratagem 8. Other than that, they seem similar to me. However, I prefer Volkl Cyclone to Strategem 8.

I don't think Black Out and Black Force use the same string formulation as their base. BO seems to be a lot stiffer than BF to me.

I think the ideal Pro's Pro hybrid would be profiled BO Mains and round BO Crosses!

10€. He string the same day so no need to string at night..... LOL
Sounds more like a stringing slave. ;)
@karma, I once made the mistake of stringing Black force 1.19 at 24kg which turned out much too stiff. However less tension and as a cross or even as main string in hybrid its fine. I wonder why you would hybrid Black out?
I was asking about Strategem 8, because some mention it as a copy of Rpm blast, that i like, but appearantly it isnt.

I hybrid BO mains with a slick round Poly cross string because it seems to increase the spin potential, and depth potential (higher launch angle).

In general I hybrid all shaped Poly Main strings with a slick round Poly cross - usually tension the Crosses 2kg to 3kg lower than the Mains.

Karma, im planning to hybrid my BO to increase depth and spin of my low flex racquet.. Normally i would string at around 43 pound... What pp poly would u recommend? thanks

Hi @tennis2live, you could try Pros Pro Black Force. Or something like Volkl Cyclone Tour or Yonex Poly Tour Pro. Alternatively, Ashway Monogut ZX or Isospeed Cream.

All will work well. Your choice will probably be influenced by how much you are prepared to pay.

BTW, I do notice that you mention low flex racquet. I would still be looking at softer cross strings like many mentioned above. Perhaps jack up the tension into the high 40s for the cross strings. You should get good depth, plenty of spin, and plenty of control.

I would try Yonex Poly Tour Pro 1.25 first. If that doesn't do the trick, try Black Force or Cyclone Tour.

I purchased 2 new rackets that have Pro's Pro Cyclone 17 gauge @ 52lbs and absolutely loved the way it played that I quickly ordered a reel of that and Lethal 5.

Rackets are strung full bed and can't wait to hit with them tonight. I'll report how they play.

Oh, and the Super Tacky over grips are great! They are similar to Tourna but feel better. Plus they cost less. Win win

They're definitely more like the Tourna Mega Tac which I've been using for the past 2 years. I have nothing negative to say about the Pro's Pro over grip other than they're a great deal money wise and a quality product.
I use them as well and they are about the same as Wilson pro maybe a tad less durable but for the price they can’t be beat.

Following are some pros pro strings with relatively longer playability:
Concept - on the stiff side; but maintains playability much better than typical polys. String few pounds lower than other polys!
Hexaspin - Shaped poly, not as good as hyper-g, but pretty close, plays softer than black out and hyper-g.
Gutex Ultra - multi filament, very good tension maintenance compared to other multis. It is pre-stretched! And does not easily fray!!

what raket do you string these on?
pp.hexaspin.twist is nice
pp.blackout i like alot
pp.nano vendetta is interesting
pp.hexaspin mains (orange)/pp.pluspower crosses (orange) is also a nice combo that looks good on my orange rakets

as for the multis.. gutex is one of pp better ones; i reviewed alot of them side by side on earliers posts here.. pp.pioneer is slightly better imo, but gutex feels more comfortable..

In many racquets: Pure Strike 16x19 (black/red), DR98/100. Pure Aero & Prokennex Q5.
Gutex Ultra is the only multi I tried so far from pp. Not tried in full bed yet, but so far happy as crosses.

Anyone have a problem with Stratagem 8 (1.25) breaking prematurely? I'm breaking it on the machine.
Have never had this problem with any other string except cheap gut on occasion.

FWIW, I replaced grommets after the first incident, has happened three times since. Had to go a different route
(again, with no issues).

@struggle
yeah thats weird
i see youve been using pp.red.devil 1.19mm,, if youve neever had issues stringing that string, then it should not be happening with 1.25mm
pp.red.devil to me at that small gauge is very stretchy,,

couple things iwould try:
1 clean clamps, to make sure i only use enough pressure and its not squashing the string
2 grease the port holes to minimize sharp turn friction
3 add a power pad in the grommet with the issue "if thats the issue", to increase radious for the string turn
what raket?
what tension?

Are you using string from a Packet or from a Reel.

Check the string closely. Look at it under a magnifier (glass, or photograph it with your smartphone and zoom in on the image).

Does it look "fresh", consistent thickness, consistent shape? No knicks or deformities in the string length.

When you tension a length of it, does it stretch evenly?

Second this, it must be some quality problem with the strings/reel. I have strung Stratagem a lot on my Wise 2086 and never broken anything ever.

I recently switched to Pro’s Pro Cyber Power for my mains after a lengthy play test/experimentation period.
My previous long term setup was Blackout mains & Red Devil cross.
No love for PPCP here?

i tried a few round polys, similar
pp.plus power
pp.vendetta
pp.nano.vendetta
and of course pp.red.devil
all pretty comfortable and cool colors
as for a black round poly
i choose to go with pp.black.force
i put 17g pp.blackout mains and 18g pp.blackforce crosses

can you compare pp.CP to any other pp.round poly?? what you liked, what you didnt like, etc..

I love the cyber power too. Played the silver and white, mainly 1.25mm. White is softer than silver but both good for me. I am now testing nano white version, hoping to get somewhere in between the good pocketing of white and the crisp feel of silver.

Only one strange observation - in my first session with nano white 1.3mm, partner commented than I am hitting insane topspin on my groundstroke. More so than 1.25mm ....
