Quick q - has anyone tried hex multi and can give any advise if it is any good.

I have been using Bab addiction 16, Signum Pro Fibrecore and Angell Halo 3

The hex shape looks interesting and would like to know if it is worthwhile trying as it only comes in reel from where I can shop from.

Thanks.
The shape disappear after three topspin shots...

Hexmulti is a very very soft string; when you get it out of the package or reel, it looks and feels like some loose sticky thread. Therefore, It is very easy to string. However, It is not a string that snaps back easy or recoils.

I used it in a FB and as a cross with a shaped poly. FB feels a bit too soft, but my son likes it and also the free spin that it creates. As a cross it creates good control and a very arm friendly soft feeling.

In my opinion durability is a bit low, esp. with shaped poly's or with open stringbed rackets. You need to push the string back to its normal place a lot, also with its stickyness this doesnt help the durability either. But hey it is a very soft multi string.

I've never strung it harder than 23kg. Maybe that could help for durability, for my users it wasnt an option.

The shape of the string stays but is not a firm feature like some poly's. The shape and sticky coating creates that extra spin.

Hope this helps for your decision.

Not agree. With my spin game, the shape is destroyed extremely quickly.

Finally ordered Dyna Power.
Can't wait to try and compare it PP's regular synth gut.
And Eruption too because I test strings all the freaking time instead of proper training amd match play ^^

another newbie q - i have been using FB Bab Addiction 16 and Signum Pro Fibrecore 16 - is there a Pro's Pro multi that is similar to these?

HOT SHOT

Just to clarify

Stratagem 8 & Blackout similar to RPM
Ichiban spin similar to tour bite (Silver), PHT (yellow)
Eruption similar to hyper G
Cyclone power similar to Element

Why would anyone hybrid a sgut with another sgut?
I m rather interested in hybriding with a poly. What is the durability and snapback in that case?
I hybrid Prince Premier Touch mains (too powerful for full bed, supposedly their most gut like synth multi) with Prince Premier Control crosses, a multi that gives good control and feel.
Match made in heaven for me.
I use it went it's wet (on hardcourt practise or on clay) as can't use nat Gut then..
Lubed, the snapback and durability is pretty good.

I don't really get the people who say 12 hours of play is little. I don't keep any string on my rackets for more than 8 hours of play MAXIMUM. Most of the times I cut it after 4 hours. I know a guy who's changing strings when they break. No wonder he's having arm issues.

I like Pro's Pro strings. Tell me you keep ALU Power ot RPM Blast for more than 4 hours. I would never keep RPM blast on a racket for more than 4 hours of play. Usually I cut such strings after 2 hours of play. After half an hour you can feel you have to adapt your shots. And then after 15 minutes and then after 15 minutes again. After one hour it's useless. Still playable for two hours but nothing more. Normally you should not use RPM blast for more than 30 mins. Same goes for BB ALU Power. overpriced and overrated.

I'm finding Pros Pro Red Devil 1.24mm as crosses to Wilson Natural gut, is good for about 5-6 hours. After that I mount up on my 6 point machine, cut it out restring just the crosses. Rinse and repeat.

I don't really feel like Eruption is a substitute for Hyper-G. If they weren't both bright green, I don' think people would be making this comparison. Hyper G is stiffer with more spin and control IMO. That said, I've been playing with Eruption 1.30 mains and Oehms Black Pearl Rough 1.21 crosses, and the combo for some reason is working pretty well for me.

Has anyone tried Pro's Pro Devil Spin? If so, how does it play? Is it difficult to string like some twisted strings?

not a fan!
did a review of it on this thread a while back (forget the page/date)
its stiff and lots of coil memory, but it does produce that bit extra spin
if u find the right tension for your racquet then it could work, but I didn't..
good luck with your search..

I've used HM mostly for crosses with Cyber Flash. It gave me good power, plushness, and spin. But I would only get 6 hours out of it. I've also tried it in a full bed in my Aerogel 200, which filters out a lot of feel and vibration. My main gripe is that this string eats away at itself unless you lube the mains before installing the crosses and continue to lube periodically. But it's a very comfortable and muted string. At the price point, I would recommend it if you do your own stringing and don't have to pay for labor.

cool thanks. do you know the 16g stiff rating is, cant see it in the TWU comparison list...
You won't find PP data in TWU because TW doesn't sell it. They say GU is similar to NXT, but I would still string it 2 lbs lower than that. In the absence of data and great prices, we have to take a leap of faith.

(1) mains Pro's Pro Blackout 1.24mm 48lb / crosses Signum Pro Poly Plasma 1.23mm 48lb
(2) mains Pro's Pro Eruption 1.18mm 48lb / crosses Pro's Pro Red Devil 1.19mm 46lb

My last stringing was (2). I had it cut yesterday and tried (1) for one session.

(1) created a lot more spin than (2) when (2) was two-month old. Two-month old (2) sometimes had difficulty in spin: I brushed and felt slippery and the ball flied flat.

(1) was still more spiny than fresh (2). I write notes on all stringing so I remember my feel on a fresh (2). The ball dropped more sharply with (1).

Backhand slice was knife-like with (1).

===========================

I know this comparison means little, with different crosses, gauges and tensions. But I aim to hybrid Pro's Pro polys, so I am trying combinations.

Eruption was a disappointment. Blackout, surprise. All people say Blackout won't last. I have been looking for a stringing machine, otherwise it is not worth paying the labour.

Did I say I like Pro's Pro strings? I take my words back.

Played today with Pro's Pro Hexaspin Twist. What a crappy string. Had six rackets in my bag, three of them strung with this string. The first one I thought it's me having a bad day. Shots were going everywhere. Then I seen strings displaced in every single way.
Took the second racket. After two shots strings were displaced and stuck in weird positions. Didn't bother with this string on the third racket. Moved to the hybrid racket with natural gut and poly.

I played many polys in the past. None was as bad as this one. I will throw the whole reel in the trash bin. Or if anyone wants it just pay for shipping.

Comparisons are always good to know. Thanks for sharing.

Good to see that this setup worked out fine for you - mains Pro's Pro Blackout 1.24mm 48lb / crosses Signum Pro Poly Plasma 1.23mm 48lb -

As for your Eruption hybrid setup, have you though to cross it with a stiffer string? Red Devil is quite soft and might not work well with Eruption. Hey, it could be interesting to use SPPP as well as cross with Eruption.

Comparing poly fullbed with gut hybrid isnt even apples and pears, its just completely unfair!

I was not comparing them. It is the fact that when I test a string I test it in a friendly match and in case something goes wrong I have a racket with hybrid to recover from a bad match. So, when I switch to my hybrid it means that string is out, testing is over.

Anyway one of my former trainers will get that reel of Hexaspin for free. it seems he might find some use for that. Also giving Pro's Pro a second chance as I also have a reel of Blackout. While stringing it I had a good impression, much better than Hexaspin Twist. But if this also disappoints me, I'm done with Pro's Pro strings.

I gave Pro's Pro a second chance. Tried Blackout today and I have to say I really love this one. It scored very high in departments such as comfort and feel. Also control was good for me. I can say I love it. I'll buy one more reel. String friction was great since stringing. I had a good feel about it since stringing. It felt like some high quality string that is not cheap.

I guess I will try other strings from them.

buy packs to try first
not everyone likes,,,,, can live with pros pro string characteristics
pros pro strings are generic strings, good enough for club level play, (4.5 and below levels),,
for higher competition and/or durability reasons, other strings (name brands), work better

Well, I don't care about durability I changed the time I keep a string on my rackets, usually one hour, some string only half an hour. Hybrid, natural gut + polyester is the exception. I keep that hybrid with natural gut for way longer periods of time. Other than that I cut strings really fast.

That is because Kirschbaum Max Power is said to last a lot and it let me down way faster than those many hours some people say.
And I found myself having to hit harder to make my shot go the way they used to. Then the next day had a slight discomfort in my elbow.

I guess that is also because I play a 95 sq inch racket 18x20.

Also played RPM blast and after half an hour had to adjust my shots or change rackets. My mistake I had just one racket with RPM Blast in my bag so I was in trouble.

Not anymore. Now I always have at least three rackets in my bag with the same string, same tension, same everything. And I always have six rackets in my bag. Two natural gut hybrid rackets are there to save me from trouble when I am testing whatever string. Then I cut strings after one hour no matter how expensive or what durability ratings it has. No string will die on me anymore during play.
Luxilon Alu Power and RPM Blast will always be cut after half an hour with no exception. I value my arm more than a damn piece of plastic.

So, yesterday after one hour hitting I cut the Pro's Pro Blackout and the strings were not stuck to each other yet. I guess the string to string friction is very good in this string. Anyway if needed I can buy a bigger bag to carry around 12 rackets but I will never keep a string longer than one hour of play.

Also there are expensive strings that are awful. I have many reels in my drawer, expensive and cheap. I just want to try as much as possible and I cannot have a clear opinion unless I use a whole reel. For example after using one 200m reel of Kirschbaum Max Power Rough, I am convinced, for me, it is the best string in hybrid stringing with natural gut. I have to admit cutting the expensive string really fast, felt a bit bad at first, as well as cutting a string that seemed perfectly fine felt a bit bad at first but then I got the reason and got used to it and I'll keep doing this.

I also keep pliers in my bag to cut the rest of the strings when a string breaks. I don't want uneven tension on my racket until I string it. Cheers.

But if this also disappoints me, I'm done with Pro's Pro strings.
First, May I suggest buying sets instead of reels?

Do you like RPM BLAST? If yes, try this, PP istring soft, it's identical to it. I've tested it yesterday (16g, full bed, 50lb) on my Pro Staff 6.0 85, and I've tested the rpm blast once before, same racket but higher tension (55lb) which felt like "iron" board.

Even on 50lb, the istring soft, was too springy, slick, crazy spin, POP, uncontrollable power should be strung higher (≥53lb) but even on 50 (and despite the elasticity) felt like iron board (100% same feel as rpm blast) strangely, my elbow feels great unlike 2 days ago when I had an old hybrid (nat on main), I have a "golf" elbow injury.

As any other co-poly for advanced players (powerful game/rally), and as the rpm blast, it loose it's magic after 1/2 - 1h, for recreational players it will remain playable for a very long time.

This string will be great on hybrid with nat/multi/syn.

I've tested the pp red devile, same racket, same tension, same gauge. Felt like "plastic" board (not iron board), very harsh on elbow, but when I strung it again on 43lb, felt much better, great control with good power, wasn't elastic still gives the plastic board feel, but better for elbow.

Thanks a lot...another Pete on avatar :). Summer is gone, yet, he's still trying to figure out how to turn it ON :D!

by the way, rpm blast type of strings is not my type, I prefer more feel, plus my style of strokes are mostly flat. Do you have a recommendation for a cheap co-poly that's similar to Nat/multi or at least to syn?

Hi all,

I have been reading this thread with great interest.
Previously I was looking at fb of PP Multi, because I have been playing with various of fb of Multi in the past few years @ 54lb (all 1.30 guage)

Now I am quite intrigued with the PP Red Devil 1.19 and PP Black Out 1.24. I am planning on using the PP Syn Gut 1.30 in a hybrid setup.

Can I ask for recommendations of what would be an ideal setup to try with Red Devil/Syn Gut and Black Out/Syn Gut? What tension should I try and which one to be used for main and cross? I'd like to try on both 16x19 and 18x20, 95sq" to 100sq" racquets.

BTW - I also have 2 x 12m sets of PP Gutex Ultra 1.30 and 2 x 12m sets of PP Torpedo (1.10 - 1.45), would any of them be worthwhile with the Red Devil and Black Out?

Thank you.

pros pro strings are a bit on the power side of the spectrum, red.devil more so than blackout
I would string pp.red.devil 2-4lbs higher than pp.blackout
blackout I would string 1-2lbs higher than other name brand polys you've tried
you do need to have a "basis tension", for what ever racquet you play, as you know the 95" is going to be lower than the 100" racquets

I've used 95" racquets with Kirsch SG 1.25/RD 1.19 @53/49 with great results. It gave me a neutral feel that was very quiet. Using RD in the crosses gives you much better spin than using it in the mains. 345g 18x20 racquet.

Thank you @1HBHfanatic this is helpful.
I haven’t had poly for many many years so I wouldn’t have a clue what my “base tension” would be.
let’s say if I use fb of multi at 54lb, should I try the PPRD or BO in the high 40’s to start with?
I think I will experiment on an Angell K7 Red to start with, so what would be a “safe base tension” for that? It currently has a fb of multi initially strung at 54lb, with the PP poly, should I try PP RD at 48lb, then BO at maybe 45lb? Should I use the PP poly for the main or cross as I’d like to use a hybrid setup with PP SG (and at what tension?)

with other sized racquet, what is the best way to determine a base tension? Would mid range in the recommended tension range be a safe bet or should be a couple of lb lower with the PP poly?

thank you again.
