ProStaff Original 85 vs ProStaff Original 95?

I currently have two Wilson ProStaff Original 85 racquets (one is a St. Vincent model and one is not).

I've never had a chance to play with the 95 sq. in. version of this racquet so I'm wondering if anyone can compare/contrast the Wilson ProStaff 6.0 85 (or the Hyper 6.1 or Classic 6.1) and the Wilson ProStaff 6.0 95?

Maybe in some of the areas TW uses: Power, Control, Groundstrokes, Serves, Volleys, Spin Potential, Touch/Feel, Comfort, Stability

Thanks.

Benjamin,
Please stop it already!! You're driving me crazy!! Please, pretty please, pretty please with sugar on top, just demo the PS 6.0 95 already!! I've been suggesting you demo this racquet for months now but you still seem to refuse to demo it. Just get one and play with it and you'll know! IMHO, the 95 is a much more user friendly version of the 85. Same feel but easier to swing and maneuver, and much more spin friendly. It may well be the lighter POG Mid that you've been searching for since the beginning of time.

You know from your experience with the RDX 500 Mid and MP that headsize can make quite a difference in how a racquet plays even if they are suppose to be the same racquet with the same name.

BTW, I'm currently writing up a playtest review for TW which includes the PS 6.0 85 which should be out sometime next week. And as you know, my usual racuqet is the PS 6.0 95.

  :D

i own the 85 only. but ive played in numerous matches with my partners 95's. the 95 is much more suited to a baseline player than the 85. I find my serve has better kick and positioning with the 85, but more power with the 95. I like the feel of the 85 a lot better too. When i palyed wtih these racquet i found that they really are not nearly the same racquet. give the ncode 90 a try, its the best of everything, ive thought about switching to it since playing wtih my other buds ncode 90, but i hate switching racquets. oh ya, confort wise, the 85 feels mroe comfy to me IF and ONLY IF you hit the sweetspot.

Urrr, B

I currently have three Wilson ProStaff Original 95 racquets (none can be a St. Vincent model).

I've never had a chance to play with the 85 sq. in. version of this racquet so I'm wondering if we should exchange one of each(your 85 and my 95) and try it? :D

Well, I like my 95 a lot (Someday, maybe someday I might try 85 as a benchmark). Very head light, very good spin generation (long ball dwell time), buttery feel. But again I cannot compare with 85. As others say, I think you should try it yourself. Some say they are similar while others say quite differently. Some say with some lead PS6.0 95 can be amazing. I am currently interested in PC600 or PC660. Have you tried these? Some people believe PCs better than PS...Anyway, for a while, I am going to stick with my 95s and POG OS. Good luck!

Break Point,

To be honest, I was planning on purchasing the Wilson Hyper ProStaff 6.0 Tour 95 this week. I figured it was exactly like the Original 6.0 95 and if I didn't like it at least I'd have a "unique" racquet. Unfortunately TW has sold out of them. :(

Thanks for everyone's info.

Good on you, Ben! (as the Aussies would say).

Well, you can still demo the regular version from TW.

BTW, the regular version is still a unique racquet these days since most stores stopped selling them several years ago. Unless they bought it from TW (or a couple of other online stores), people you see using them are probably using racquets that are several years old. :)

I agree with BreakPoint, the balance of the PS 6.0 95 (more headlight than the 85 version) is tilted towards a serve and volleyer. For an aggressive baseline game, a small amount of lead tape in the hoop is beneficial.
