For those who have used or demo’d these racquets, which would you say was the better performing racquet?

I play with the Pure Aero Tour. and Recently demo'd the Blade CV. I own a Blade 16x19 (2 models back) and have hit a lot with that.
Pure Aero Tour has Lots More Power and lots more spin - very Noticeable
The Blade is more control orientated, and really strong when hitting flatter and the but away shots.
the PAT is loopier, topspin and the Blade more direct and flatter.
I really started to connect with the Blade when i had strung it with 4G @50-52 lbs....
GroundStrokes = PAT (Huge Topspin, Easy Power)
Serve = PAT, Power..!
Volley = slight edge to Blade
Slice Backhand = Blade by a long way
Touch and Feel = Blade by a long way (dropshots)

the Balance (close to even balance / not very head light) of the Blade caught me off guard a bit - found I was catching the ball late.
weight in the handle helped

I also hit with the Blade CV 18x20....was very impressed...very solid...control..and more spin then expected

Can you flat at all with the PAT?

Did you create this thread just to say how much you like the Blade? I don't like the CV, so I would pick the PAT, it feels less like a tree trunk. Believe it or not, the Blade hurt my wrist, yet I could play all day with the PAT with no problems. The PAT has almost no control, but it is still better playing than the Blade. The Blade CV is also heavier and more HH than its specs. The PAT is spot on.

Both racquets are seen in the pro tour a lot. So it's fallacious to say that one is better than the other because players at the highest level will not agree on either one. It comes down to your individual preference. The Pure Aero is more powerful. The Blade is more control oriented and more arm friendly. I would pick the Blade, but that's just me. The Pure Aero hurts my arm and gives me problems keeping the ball in with a full swing, but just because I have old joints and lack the ability to control it doesn't mean it won't work better for someone else.

I’m not sure how the standard length dr 98 is but I demo’d the dr 100+ and it felt too “flexy”/unstable. Is the standard length different?

I just spent several weeks demoing racquets and Blade 16x19 CV and the regular Pure Aero were 2 I tried. I wouldn't say either is 'better performing' than the other, but they do play very differently. I found the Aero better for serving and spin, and the Blade better for control and volleying. It was more effortless to hit with pace and spin from the baseline with the Aero. With the Blade I had to put a lot more effort into my shots in order to get pace and spin, but I could place them more accurately.

Completely agree with this assessment.

Dropping the tension down to mid 40s helped me get more easy power from the cv 16/19 blade on groundies and serve without losing much control. I switched to this after hitting with the original ultra 97 (pretty unpopular), and the touch prestige pro, both of which I still love... so my opinion likely doesn’t mean much here.

I also really liked the cv blade 98s, but the balance and lack of weight gave me serious arm problems for some reason. Not having the same issues with the 16/19, although still regarded as having more of a HH balance.

I decided to save money and got a 2015 Wilson pro staff 97s. I’ll probably take the leather grip off. Anybody have this racquet? thoughts?
