Pure aero Vs pure drive

Hey everyone, I like to think of myself as an aggressive baseliner, I win most of my points from the back as I rarely go up for a volley. I play with a Wilson burn 100 CV strung with a spin friendly poly usually. I tried to play with a pure strike 98 16x19 (PO7) but I quickly stopped because of shoulder pain. Now I wanted to switch the pure strike but don't know if I should buy the pure aero 2019 or the pure drive 2018.
I can't demo either because in tennis warehouse doesn't demo in Portugal. I know I want either one of those as even my coach told me they're good for my style of play. Any tips to help me choose?

I actually hadn't thought of that. I'm honestly not that worried about my shoulder because I only feel pain after playing with the pure strike, the burn isn't exactly the friendliest racket and I feel fine with it. But if it's that similar to the babolat lines it's something to consider for sure

Shoulder pain usually has nothing to do with stiffness but with swinghweight.
Try doing some light weightlifting or other excercise to make shoulder stronger or use lighter racquet.

Both are good racquets, but I would go with the Pure Drive first. It’s more headlight than the Pure Aero and Pure Strike, with a little less swingweight, and slightly easier to control. I’ve had zero arm or shoulder problems with it. There is nothing wrong with the Pure Aero, but it’s a little more demanding to control and has a higher swingweight.

Owned both Pure Drive+ frames and can't hit with a Pure Drive or a PD+ due to its stiffness. Yep it hurts my elbow along with a USTA 5.0C Husband and his 4.0C Wife.

He uses 372 /374 gram (13 oz ) strung Pure Controls. She uses a 2016/17/18 Pure Aero. I use 342 gram strung Pure Aero Plus extended length frames. The pure drives from 2009 to 2015 cause all three of us elbow pain, but the Pure Aeros don't. All three of us use Cyclone Tour 1.30mm in our frames with no issue. My arm and their can't taken the Pure Drive even with a full bed of X1 bi-phase. Happy with my PA+ frames.

Putting a fairway leather grip and or silicone and or tungsten putty can make a frame more HL

Thanks for the answers so far, all very informative! I'm still gonna think for a bit before making my decision but hearing different people's opinions is very helpful

Can you hit with one of each from a friend or some club ?
My club has a partnership with Wilson so most of the players there use one... Also the reason why my main racket was a Wilson burn for so long, because I already wanted a pure aero or drive then. Closest I can get is a pure aero lite Wimbledon edition but since it's the lite version I'm not sure it would be the same thing

There are a number of things that can cause shoulder pain. One, frequently overlooked, is doing bench presses or even pushups without proper warm up or with too much weight/reps. Any change in serve technique, maybe when switching to that Pure Strike, is another.

You might want to take a look at the Prince TT 100 (310). I've found that I can get about the same amount of spin as a Pure Aero with it and it is a much more forgiving racquet and one that is fairly powerful.

Have you considered Yonex Ezone 100, the 2020 version? Considered to be pure drive competition, plays like a aero pro drive with good power and control. And much, MUCH more comfortable than any Babolats despite the RA rating.

And Yonex has top notched QC, so you can get more of the same racquet later without worrying about matching.

Strictly speaking on the PD vs PA question, the PA is the more controllable of the two. PD has more power, PA has more spin. Also, the PA is not as stiff and with the current version it plays reasonably easy on the arm. The easy on the arm part can be subjective for a lot of people mostly the result of how they swing the racquet. I myself have plenty of arm issues that have been ongoing for a while. I was surprised that the PA didn't bother me and I suffer from tennis elbow and golfers elbow.
