Pure Aero VS stars and stripes is here!

They should have made them a limited addition .... just 250 made, then the collectors would have bought them all up.
Maybe???

It's a complete insult to the American flag and what it stands for.

The morons at Babolat can't even get the number of stripes right or the stars, and have cannibilized it for own dumb logo.

I wouldn't use this abomination of a racket if you paid me.

Paint job fail. Apparently this is what French people think Americans like?

You guys don't understand. The big deal with this racquet is that the long awaited (at least on this sub) Aero Storm has finally been re-released. I personally have not hit with it but from the amount of hype for this stick that was being felt a few months ago, the pj really doesn't matter.

Lol.

The paint job looks like something someone would use to make fun of Americans. It's basically a joke. Doubt this frame sells well at all in the states.
Not really, I do think it's polarizing but it's bound to find its market regardless; or at least when reading the threads around here, it really was polarizing. Nevermind those who actually want to play with an AeroStorm and will overlook the paintjob anyway if the frame is good enough. I even think that the paintjob will grow on some people just like the RF97's paintjob that many found fairly average to say the least.

It may be a great racquet, but anyone pulling that out of their bag at my club would probably get laughed off the court, unless they were doing it as a joke with a Captain America costume on for Halloween. This is a case where a non-American company missed something culturally in the translation.

Ok, we get it, you hate the pj. No need to keep on blathering on about it.

On another note, can anyone give me an overview on how the stick plays? I really love my Angells but this is a quite tempting impulse purchase :p

Anyone know how much it costs to black out a racquet?

It is a ridiculous pj and I'm not a big fan at all. As an American it's ok to hit with but I can see it being embarrassing for you Asians and Europeans. Like I said above, you may just have to ignore the paint and focus on the playability <3 That's what racquets are for anyway :P

I got away with mauve OGs being confused as being pink (which they could have and I wouldn't have cared either way). I think anyone who likes the racquet or/and the paintjob enough isn't gonna be sensitive enough to care about that.

Guitars with the much more controversial the Confederate flag sell anywhere, regardless of the nationality of the user. And in that case, it's really purely cosmetic. Figures.

I don't care what it looks like , it hits great.

I'd say that you're the one who doesn't understand. 14 stripes for 13 original States? Only a dumb French company like Babolat would butcher another country's flag and not understand it's history.

If you really must have this racket - another Babolat sales and marketing stick aimed at people who change rackets every couple of months - wait for the black and yellow version.

You forgot to call it a "Freedom" company, Mr. Rumsfeld.

beside the PJ, does Aero-Storm re-released ?!
once I was a real fan of it but sadly discontinued, it is really tempting me to buy one.

it's a pity, no Aero storm with Yellow-Black Paintjob like Pure Aero?

Maybe they were wanting to mimic the flag of the war of 1812 (15 stripes and 15 stars), but didn't like Kentucky?,
or maybe they were going for the 1791 to 1792 flag? (after Vermont, but before Kentucky?)
Has anybody counted the number of stars yet?

Naahhhhh, we tennis players are not the least bit OCD.......

I don't see the insult. This isn't the first time a sporting goods company has released a tribute to the american flag. It won't be the last. I really don't get the "historical accuracy" thing. We are planning a 4th of July party and I'm pretty sure most of the things we got at Party City do not have the right number of stars or stripes.

I find it a little garish but that wouldn't prevent me from playing with it if I felt it was the right racquet. That said, given a choice, I would go for a more understated version.
It's a little light but I like the specs. Was the original a good seller?

its tru... I would rather die than be seen with this.

On a side note; (your signature) ever seen Youzhny? that guy cracks me up!!!

If it had the right amount of stripes or stars or whatever, it would still be ugly as sin.

I don't conflate my patriotism with design schemes on novelty store doodads. I can go to a thousand stores in the U.S. and buy boxer shorts with equivalent historical inaccuracies.

were gonna have to wait 2 weeks for the video review.. per TW......also Im thinking the whole JACK SOCK for president/ presidential campaign and the Olympics are playing a role in PJ.

If it hits nice... its mine...plus if your good and whoop up on people with it.. thats even better .....especially if they are sippin Hater-aid

TW may just link the old 2010 AeroStorm review. It was pretty crappy IMO.

It looks like every has can be said has been said about the pj haha.

I'll start off with saying i played with the pure storm more than the aerostorm but the pure aero vs is easily my favorite babolat ive used in recent memory (when i first started playing tournaments at age 9 i used a zylon pure drive but i cant remember at all how it played).

There's plenty of pop and swing speed for ground strokes, but the feel on the back slice and volleys far surpassed my expectations. It was very forgiving and fun to use.

The demo was strung with revolve 17 and 52 lbs which is not my ideal setup, but it worked completely fine for this setup. The only thing i forgot to check out was serves but im sure it would work fine.

Now to look up tutorials for custom paint jobs :v

That's because you're German.

You say that about every product going. Even products which are terrible you say that you 'love' etc.

TW won't give you a job if don't have credibility.
I don't need a job :)
And I hate the the new pure drives, and last years prestiges, haven't tried the newest version . I hate what Dulop has become, need to bring the Dunlop feel back. I tend not to post on the frames I dislike :)

Weight typo from what I can tell from the stack that I have here, anyone else seeing the same thing?

rvernsey,

Due to a manufacturing error, the unstrung spec weight printed on the throat of the racquet is incorrect. The correct unstrung weight should be listed as 295g/ 10.4 oz.

Thanks,
Brittany, TW

@TWStaff I like the new PJ for the limited release on the Pure Aero VS. I play with the old Aero Storm Tour cortex. If I brought in my racket I've heard of your matching program. How does that work? I'm assuming adding led tape. I've never played with led tape before though. Is this something permanent, or will i have to continually reapply it? if it is the reapply method, how long does it usually last for? If it's just for the paint job, is it even worth it? Or do you think that it is better in the long run to just wait for the Tour version to be released?

Thanks,
Derek

Hi Derek,

We have both matching and customizing services available.

Matching Service:
For a $10 fee a Tennis Warehouse USRSA Certified Master Racquet Technician will sort through racquets, measuring them on the Babolat RDC, to find you a matching pair. A matching pair is defined as two (or more) racquets chosen from a random set that "match to each other" in static weight, balance point and swingweight. Once sorted, the racquet's unstrung specs are labeled and affixed to the racquet's handle packaging for customers to retain.

Customization Service:
The service fee for in house TW racquet customization is $20 per racquet plus the cost of the necessary materials. We no longer use lead in racquet customization. It is designed to be a permanent change but in some cases can be reversed.

Even with customizing to the same spec, the racquets won't necessarily play the same. At this time, we do not have any information from Babolat on when the Pure Aero Tour VS will launch.

Thanks,
Brittany, TW

When was the last time a company made a racquet with the French flag on it? The English flag? It would never happen. But oh, they sure think Amcericans would buy it.

I am an American living in Europe, though I normally refer to myself as a New Yorker because to say that I'm "American" makes me feel like a should be wearing a cowboy hat for some reason... Anyway.. If I still lived in the US I don't think I'd want this. Being an expat "overseas" I somehow want one real bad. And I can't stand Babolats...

I am a proud owner of a Wilson 6.6 Stars and stripes that I NEVER play with for precisely this reason.

Definitely not an insult. A real insult to America would be, for example An American company like Wilson, moving manufacturing offshore. Like to China perhaps.
Who cares about a flag faux pas when real jobs have been eliminated?
