Pure Control 95

I was rewatching some old reviews last night and this one seemed to tick a lot of the right boxes, but I really haven't noticed it being discussed here on the boards.

Can anyone who tried one/used/uses one fill me in? What did you like and what didn't work for you?

Well yeah you expect a true player's racket to be popular with the average tt dweller? He's too busy getting that new 2020 t e c h n o l o g y

Starting from the very fist pure storm to the pure control. GT or non GT as long as it's 95 that whole line is a hidden gem. Absolute beauty of a racket you can get for peanuts that cured my tennis elbow. PT57A cultists will be mad but 95% of them wouldn't be able to differentiate the two in a blind test. Whatever.

What didn't work for me if the abysmal swingweight, a whole buncha lead at 12, a hole buncha lead at 20cm to make it manoeuverable enough, done. I'd say it's as close to a pro stock as you can get for ultra cheap.
Even the bunch of weight in the handle is more up the handle compared to a wilson for example so you need less weight at 20cm to make it swing easy. Go for it.

Brilliant racket once leaded up, definitely a favorite... I played with all of them, Pure Storm Ltd thru the Pure Control 95, using a gut/poly hybrid... Still have a few.

Got the plus and it’s sweet. Quite demanding though, you should have clean strokes and a consistent contact point. Benefits a lot from lead at 3/9 imo.

I have both the PS 95 LTD+ GT and a pair of Pure Control 95+. Of my 60+ rackets right now they are in my top 5. I need to get a couple of standard lengths to compare to the Volkl C10 Pros which I have returned to after a multi year hiatus. I would get my hacksaw out, which has seen much use on long body rackets these past few years, but those long body Pure Storms and Pure Control 95s do not grow on trees.

-why did babolat abandon the box beam of the b.pure.storm line??
-was the pure storm line "too arm friendly", for the babolat brand??
-if a gun was held to my head and forced to choose a babolat racquet, the b.pure-storm would be it!!
-I feel for All the babo-heads with 1hbh, after the pure-storm, its been a disappointing downward spiral

BTW- I just looked at the review of the pure control 95, def looks like a nice 1hbh racquet, too bad its no longer arround

Just looking at the throat design of the pure storm its obvious were going for the prestige market. And look what happened to the prestige line over the years so no wonder they jumped ship.

^**** (edit: ugh, second hand market) my friend, you can get 4 for the price of a new racket today and bonus: theyll come with a few RA points off already

I played with the Pure Storm LTD and then the Pure Control 95 after that. My favorite modern racquets. They are the same mold and basically the same specs. If I hadn't found some old fiberglass sticks that are even more awesome I would still be playing the PC 95. Great feeling somewhat flexi control sticks.

The only complaints I've heard about them were low power, low swing weight, and low sweet spot. Personally I had no real complaints. Never had any power issues, the low swing weight makes it great for spin on groundies and serves and while the low sweet spot isn't ideal, it's not that different from many frames and you can adjust if you pay attention to the feel.

I have 3 pristine PC 95s that I plan on hanging on to for my old age when I might need something a little bigger than my 82 sq in Rossignols.

Excellent and very capable frame. Mine came strung with Babolat XCel and feels like butter, just like PT57A if not a tad better. Plays larger than the headsize.
